distinctive traits Completely identical to his twin brother, Tuesday. The brothers can finish each other’s sentences, even. Lately, though, they’ve been forced to branch off a little bit, leaving Thursday feeling fairly confused.

personality Thursday is not a terribly complicated boy on the outside. Like his brother, he loves to enjoy himself and wreak as much havoc as he can, the latter action being his major source of enjoyment. After a childhood where his parents controlled his every move, Thursday has become loud, outspoken, impish, and rebellious, and every part of his mischievous demeanor is magnified when he’s around his brother. He liked to remind Tuesday on a regular basis that he’s the older twin, but he loves his brother more than anyone and is ruthlessly loyal to him. They are the Dream Team of Chaos together. Being away from Tuesday is almost physically painful to Thursday, so he avoids it as much as possible.

Loving to be in control, Thursday hates it when things don’t go how he wants them. He used to throw tantrums about it; now he usually just gets very pouty and irritable. Despite the usual naughty cheerfulness about him, he is somewhat moody, especially when his brother’s not around. In fact, everything about Thursday seems less...”together” in the absence of Thursday. He’s more likely to lose his cool and is usually quieter, and he doesn’t really know how to communicate normally with someone. He’s never really wanted to make friends past his brother, so he doesn’t really know how, and meeting new people has been difficult for him. On his own, he also gets a little more paranoid than normal, and just generally feels empty and alone, a feeling he hates more than anything.

Thursday is artsy in the “serious-student-turned-graffiti-vandal” kind of way. He has a deep interest in the bizarre and abnormal and is fairly adventuresome, but he probably would not go on any adventures by himself. Thursday is very confident and may or may not have an ego problem, but the boisterous, brash elder sibling takes on a haughtier, prouder air when Tuesday’s away.

It’s not like Thursday isn’t trying to make friends, he just dislikes the fact that he has to. He loves the freedom of being away from Seattle for the first time in his life, but at the same time, it’s a frighteningly new experience. He wants to jump in, and he wants to wade in slowly. He wants to meet new people, and he wants to stay with his brother. It’s confusing for him. After all, around his brother, the twins are more or less impossible to tell apart – practically the same person. Thursday likes being part of that togetherness.

Speaking of confusing, Thursday loves to baffle others on a regular basis. He knows a variety of strange facts, difficult riddles, and rhyming poems (his favorite kind) to use at any point in time. In fact, Thursday knows a lot of stuff. He just...does. Thursday also loves to move and finds it very hard to sit still, and is, in addition, somewhat childish and immature. Not in the "what does sex mean?" kind of way, more in the "snicker every time someone says breast" kind of way. That's Thursday for you - he's just a kid at heart. He loves to goof off.

Davenport just sounds like a regal sort of name, doesn't it? Well, it's for good reason. The Davenports are very regal people, Seattle's finest. Conservative and proper to a fault, the Davenports wanted the best of the best, in all parts of their family's life. The best furniture, the best cars, the best clothes. The best sons.

Tuesday and his older twin brother, Thursday, were born into a strict household with strict parents and relatives. Their childhood was filled with only acceptable pastimes, like learning to read and write, play organized sports and learn art. They were enrolled into a prissy little preschool where, not sure what to make of the rules of the place, they floundered. Their parents kept them under close surveillance, ruled their activities with an iron fist, even kept them on a strict but healthy diet. It was surprising they left them room to breathe. But the twins' parents only wanted what was best for them, and this was how they thought they ought to raise their children. Truthfully, they couldn't be blamed.

Of course, no child is going to tolerate that sort of vice-like control for long, let alone two with the near exact same thought process. The twins had only each other to turn to in the most frustrating times, and they grew extremely close. Eventually the two hit elementary school, where they refused to be separated from each other. Their parents arranged it with the school that they should have all the same classes together. They found their sons got a touch out of control if they were apart for too long.

Once away from their parents, Tuesday and Thursday took advantage of their freedom to explore their actual personalities. Turns out they like to prank.

Oh, those mischievous little scamps got into all kinds of trouble. They'd been to the principal's office more times than they could count, but they were always together. This happy little trait followed them into middle school, and eventually into high school as well.

Their pranks got mixed reviews. Some kids found them absolutely hilarious (come on, pranking twins? What's not to love?) while others couldn't stand their immaturity. But they didn't mind, they loved the attention, be it for good or ill. And they got a lot of both kinds.

Obviously, their parents were not happy with this. They threatened them with therapy, boot camp, separation, but nothing worked. If anything, it made the twins more convinced that pranking was a way to get back at their controlling parents, and steadily their jokes increased in scale. Instead of petty thrills, they were starting to get into vandalism and such. More trips the principal's, harder punishments from their parents... And the twins had made up their minds.

They wanted to get expelled from their Seattle High School in the best way possible.

A week of trouble making seemed appropriate.

Every other day of the week, actually, strategically leaving off "Tuesday" and "Thursday."

Monday: A pretty tame day. They released crickets into all of the classrooms early in the morning (around 4 am), where the crickets promptly hid in dark corners. Come the beginning of the school day, no one could explain that mysterious chirping...

Wednesday: Bit more extreme. They emptied sack upon sack of powdered cocoa mix and marshmallows into the school's heated pool. That one was fun AND they didn't have to swim that day.

Friday: Their crowning achievement, and the one time they made sure their faces were caught on camera. The twins broke into their school, backpacks full of spray paint. Across the lockers in the junior hallway (their class that year), they spray-painted a mural of the Tulgey Wood from Alice in Wonderland, complete with grinning Cheshire Cat and funny little Wonderland creatures. On the last locker was a cryptic little message:

Don't step on the momeraths!

AKA "HEY MOM AND DAD. YOU SHOULD STOP SMOTHERING US. <3, YOUR SONS."

And, quite frankly, the mural was pretty good. Really good, actually. It was creepy and haunting and surprisingly graceful-looking. Guess those art lessons came in handy.

Long story short, the twins definitely got expelled, and their parents paid the damages. The twins got what they wanted, and their parents were shipping them to a whole 'nother state. How cool was that?

They ended up in New York, at the Frank L. Baum boarding school as their parents thought maybe that would straighten them out.

Yeah, okay.

Once they got a taste for trouble making, it was hard to stop. Gathering cronies and other followers, Tuesday and Thursday started pulling even more daring pranks, on and off campus.

The twins decided they liked New York. They were pretty much free to do whatever they wanted. Pranks, parties, art classes, pranks; the list went on and on. They spent each and every moment they could with the other, as they always had. Unfortunately, that precious time was becoming less and less. Even after several trips to the higher-ups of Frank L. Baum Academy, they were unable to obtain a room to share. So, for the first time in their lives, they were forced to actually (gulp) meet new people.

Naturally, they met up whenever they could for a little bonding time, which usually included a spray painted building or bucket placed precariously over a door. So far, New York hadn’t changed them that much. They were just parent-less. Which, they had discovered, also meant that they were free of their handicaps.

And they were going to make sure that New York was completely aware of that.

Thursday doesn’t know exactly how Tuesday feels about the fact that they can’t be together as much as they were before, but he knows that he feels like his other half is missing when his brother isn’t around. He isn’t coping well to the idea of making friends beyond Tuesday, as he’d never imagined he would have to and hasn’t prepared himself for the experience. It makes him fairly nervous, but he doesn’t express this.

Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee only come up in one chapter of Through the Looking-Glass, and their main purpose is to basically distract Alice from her main task (that is, getting to the final square on the Chess Board to become Queen.) Fond of games, riddles and stories, the twins recite Alice a mixed-up poem called The Walrus and the Carpenter, and then another called "Old Father William." Alice, quite finished with their nonsense and curious manners ("That's manners!" "That's logic!"), recites them a little poem of her own.

The poetic battle ensues exactly like the poem, with Alice being chased off by the monstrous crow and then runs into the White Knight in the next chapter.
