...basics*
name cornelio salvadore lopez
nickname corny, leo, lio, salvadore
age eighteen
gender male, of course.
grade senior in high school.
hometown new york city, new york.
sexuality heterosexual (no matter how much he's a fairy prince)
personification prince cornelius of thumbelina
...appearance*
hair color dark brown, using spiked in the front.
eye color Leo's eyes are a light, light green that could probably catch the attention of any lovely lady who so happened to walk by.
build Leo's body is fairly muscular, if small. He can handle basic tasks, but, because of his height, sometimes can't do everything.
height Five foot seven. A little below average, it's true.
clothing style Leo's ability to coordinate isn't...all that great. His clothes are usually just a mesh of whatever he grabs out of his room, which his mother has so graciously stuffed with polos and other expensive clothing that he wouldn't know the name brands of if they hit him in the face day after day. He only wears what's available and, since he's on the spoiled side, his mother does buy most of whatever he wants if he even stops and takes the time to ask for it.
distinctive traits : Leo's eyebrows are a bit too big for his liking but he's too secure in his masculinity to go have them waxed or whatever it is that women like to do. His neck is also pretty long, giving him a modest stretch above other people his height. His ears are a little too pointy and he has bags underneath his eyes a lot from constant sneaking out.

personality
STRENGTHS:
= Courage
[Cornelio likes to brave the hardest conditions possible, be it a huge traffic jam caught up by no one taking the time to get a stray dog out of the way to being the first person to jump off the bridge for the massive bungy-jumping party.]
= Faithfulness
[When it comes to women or picking someone to depend on, deep down Leo is the guy to turn to. He's faithful to the core, always being loyal to the current girl he's with. Although he does flit from girl to girl, it isn't while dating one. He just falls in love very easily.]
= Passion
[Leo puts his all into the current task at hand, so long as he's interested in it. He's very devoted to anything that he can get his hands on, especially arguments. Sometimes he can't see the other side very clearly and therefore is so convinced that he's right, he starts to yell and get excited over arguing his point.]
= Public Speaking
[Leo, being a pretty active member in the politics of Baum Academy and active in various clubs and activities as well as the head of a few more, has to be good at public speaking. It'd been drilled into his brain as his father became a Congressman and tried out his speeches at home, raising Leo up to be a man who can express his opinions easily.]
= Logical
[The aspect that Leo likes to put on life is, if someone doesn't agree with him, rebel. He's fairly agressive in the first manuever into rebellion but he has a bad habit of giving up about halfway through. This is mostly due to the fact that Leo is, deep down, a logical guy who knows what he should and shouldn't do; he just tries to test those boundaries sometimes.]
WEAKNESSES:
= Impulsive
[Sometimes Leo just acts rashly. It's partly because of his idea that sitting around and talking isn't going to get anything done. He likes to leap in headfirst, without much of a plan, which will usually lead to repercussions later on. ]
= Women
[Probably his weakest point is the women in Cornelio's life. They all seem to have something over him that makes him turn into a goofy but soft-hearted boy, completely different from the rebellious and belligerent youth that he pretends to be when dealing with his parents or other authorities. He kind of crumples when he's around girls who have the possiblity of being the one.]
= Pushover
[Even though he makes a big show of being some rough-and-tough guy who always gets his way, Leo is actually pretty much a pushover. He's so devoted to his girlfriend-of-the-moment that, if she chose where they were to go for a date and he really didn't want to, he would probably roll over just to please her. He's not a complete pushover, but he wants to be liked enough that he'd do a lot for a girl.]
= Squanderer
[Because his parents are incredibly financially stable, Leo has no problem throwing around money like it's nothing. He wastes money on any and everything, not thinking of where it's coming from. Leo's quite the hypocrite in that he insists on trying to rebel from them and continues to feed off of them for money instead of striving to get his own job.]
= Attention Span
[Leo gets distracted pretty easily from small tasks. His attention gets drawn into things that he's really interested in and he can occupy himself for hours. But things like the SAT or just plain tests in general (that aren't essays) are his downfall in school. He doesn't like sitting still for too long and would probably explain some of his worse grades throughout high school.]
past
Guanajauto, Mexico. Being as packed in but still exotic as possible, Guanajauto is a great place to grow up. It's a great place to learn how to be a proper Hispanic child and learn all the customs. That's how Ramone Lopez started out, in his humble beginnings. He was born to his loving mother and father as the youngest of six in a house only made for three. He struggled as he grew up with the family, always feeling out of place and as if he didn't belong. He grew up with the typical customs of Mexican culture, learning how to speak Spanish and going to the public schooling system where he was able to excel in all of his classes, showing potential that, aside from another three or four students, no one else could do. Through middle school, he lived as if each day was his last one and that, if he didn't prove himself to everyone that lived above him, he wouldn't be able to get out of Tarimoro, a smaller city within the state of Guanajauto. Living in a house with five older sisters, a mostly absent father and a mother who hated men, Ramone had a hard time growing up among them. He grew to resent his family for everything they had given him or put him through, always swearing to himself that he would get away someday and go where the grass always seemed greener: America. No one in his family had even considered abandoning them for bigger and better lives. They'd always grown up in Tarimoro. It wasn't a choice and it wasn't an option to even have the desire to leave. But Ramone could tell that he had bigger and better things to strive for. Not only would he leave Mexico permanently behind, he would also go on to hope for political power within the United States and, maybe someday, become the first Mexican-born president. It was a wild idea, but it could work...eventually?
On the other side of Tarimoro, way past where Ramone Lopez was dreaming for a bigger place to go, a much quieter woman looked for a way out. Rosaline Ortega was a native of England whose parents had moved her to Mexico for immersion into a culture they had never experienced even though they were both born from it. She wasn't particularly interested in her heritage and, instead, immersed herself in novels and books that took her to more wonderful places. Chicago, Los Angeles, New York! All places that she wanted to visit because some hint of true love was calling out to her. Whereas Ramone had put romance to the back-burner so that he could pave the way into becoming a household name, Rosaline focused with the same intensity to find the man that would one day make her his wife so that they could settle down and have plenty of children to raise up into adulthood. Her parents didn't discourage her, assuming that she would figure out later on that that was simply too much to set your goals upon. She didn't worry about money - her parents could handle it - and she didn't worry about a place to stay. All she knew was that all you needed was love. As she grew up, she fell in love with the Beatles even though her culture tried to instill better and more cultural music into her bones. It never clicked correctly and she settled with soft, loving rock music instead, all throughout high school. She showed little promise with outstanding grades in English and History but lacking in Math, Spanish, and Science. After high school, she attended the local college where she was able to run into Ramone Lopez, extravagant Mexican-born man who lived on the other side of Tarimoro and who was hoping for better things in a place where they both had mutual interest in: The United States.
He saw her as a woman that could tolerate his high ambitions and wouldn't mind just staying at home as he attempted to conquer the government. She saw him as the first man who had shown interest in her and didn't think all of her ideas were complete poppycock. They settled into a relaxed relationship as they finished out college until, on Valentines' Day, the year after they graduated, he asked her to marry him. She accepted, thinking that this was true love at last. The ceremony was large and lavish, fueled by her desires for a romantic wedding and his parents' checkbooks. After two years as a married couple, they made the executive decision to leave Mexico behind and make the journey to their new country which wasn't all that far away. They went through the tedious process of becoming permanent residents of the U.S. which took a lot more questioning than Ramone had planned to answer and deflating of Rosaline's hopes. Eventually, however, they were able to become permanent U.S. citizens. After four years of settling in the lovely, small town outside of New York City, New York, the two decided to start a family. Although Rosaline didn't know it, it was mainly because Ramone had planned to run for the House of Representatives and he felt that he wouldn't be able to connect with voters if he didn't have some sort of a family. On Valentines Day, exactly six years after Ramone had proposed, Cornelio Salvadore Lopez was born. He was a loud baby that made a huge ruckus within the hospital, letting everyone know that he had now arrived and for special attention to be payed to him because he deserved it. Eventually, he would adopt that kind of attitude about life, but that wouldn't happen for many many years into the future.
The first two years of Cornelio's life were pleasant and normal for an infant. He learned to walk and talk at the appropriate ages and his mother started to teach him to say basic words. The only thing that began to get shaky in his life was the relationship between his parents. Rosaline wasn't feeling the connection she thought she had when she first met his father and Ramone, who had never felt it, was getting more and more antsy as his first chance to prove himself rolled around. He'd been getting actively involved in politics around New York but he knew he could do better. The seventh year that marked their entrance into the U.S., Cornelio announced that he would be running for a seat in the House of Representatives for the state of New York. Mixed reactions went around the city from being an illegal citizen to hoping that he would win the election. Rosaline had to take a step back from the hub-bub. She knew that her husband had high hopes and dreams but that day was the day that she knew something had come between them. She was able to see something that he probably didn't even want to consider being possible. She had finally opened her eyes to the reality and so, while Ramone was busy planning and hoping for a win and a seat in the House of Reps, she raised Cornelio as if he were a girl, coddling him with stories of true love and, for when he grew up, to look for that one girl that set his heart on fire, the one girl who would be able to fill his every need and that made his head spin from being around her and he never wanted to leave her side. No one was more surprised than Rosaline when Ramone was able to win the election and he took his seat in the House of Representatives. The meetings were often long and unsuspecting, always pulling Ramone away from the raising up of his son.
After one particularly long meeting, he came back home long enough to get his wife pregnant again and the same event happened three years later. Now with three children in the house, Cornelio the oldest boy and two little sisters beneath him, Rosaline was beginning to feel the strain. It wasn't the money that was the problem; it was that she wasn't happy. Ramone was hardly home over the next few years of elections and re-elections and keeping his spot. He always had o be making appearances all over New York and going to the sessions in D.C. It was never a question of him cheating on her because a thought like that could never occur; it was his absence in the home of five where only four lived. When he was nine, Cornelio demanded to stop being called Cornelio because he didn't like it any more. Instead, he adopted the name Leo, thinking it more clever and much easy on the tongue to say. As his father put the children through expensive schools but not bothering to hire nanny services to take care of the ever-busy Rosaline, Emilia, Dorotea, and Cornelio slowly became more and more Americanized. Following their brother's example, Emilia and Dorotea started to insist on being called Emily and Dorothy. Their mother was hurt that her children were losing their Mexican heritage but, by that time, things had become so out of control in the house that she couldn't do anything about it. When high school hit, Leo suddenly became interested in being around other people. Being raised in private schools his whole life and learning the high-end of living, he went over to other people's houses and learned how to live as one of the rich and famous. He pushed his mother to the back of his life, often snapping at her when he came home from hanging out with all his rich white kid friends. He never insulted her directly but he never was the same after he became best friends with all the elitists in his grade.
When tenth grade hit, Rosaline gave up. In a quick visit back home from D.C., as Ramone came home with a smiling face, eager to tell his wife of the new bills that had been passed and vetoed, he was greeted at the door with a somber-looking Rosaline with a huge stack of papers, her rings on the top of them. The divorce was quick and easy, severing Ramone off from her children (even though it was pretty much already that way) but still in receiving child support. They were allowed to see their father if they really wanted to, but visitations were limited because he was hardly ever in town. At sixteen years old, Leo didn't know how to react. He knew that his father was never really around, but it wasn't negligence. It was just his father's job. He knew that, but he still hated the idea of being pulled apart like his mother had made it. Throughout the rest of his tenth and eleventh year, he became a trouble-maker. He pulled pranks on any and everyone, making each person the object of humiliation. His once friends turned their noses on his behavior. He didn't know how to act any other way. Always being secretive about his family life when he was around the others, he didn't know how to let his friends know that his parents were getting divorced without being judged by them and being the recipient of their mocking ways. He'd been on that side before; he knew how they acted. But he was tossed out just as easily as he became a deviant, rampaging throughout Frank L Baum Academy. As junior year began to come to a close, he looked for other things he could do for the summer instead of being cooped up with his naive mother and his ten and thirteen year old sisters. He got a job over the summer, working at the local movie theater and eventually began to work at the garage, getting to know cars while his father planned a surprise.
present As a birthday present from junior year, his father had given him a hefty amount of money that he began to save up. He had two conquests he was going to have to make: buy a motorcycle, and a trip to Spain. It wasn't life changing, but it did put things in perspective for him. Of course, he'd met some lovely Spanish divas and had torrid love affairs after his trip to Spain after Junior Year, but he didn't pursue them, knowing deep down that he would probably never talk to them again. Feeling much better about himself and excited for tackling senior year, Leo returned home to find a pregnant and re-married Rosaline with three new kids running around the house. Of course, it turned out that she was declaring she was in love with her new paramour, Joseph, and that he was obviously the one. A year later, the child was born with a more natural name of Cole and Leo still not knowing the three children running around in the house he grew up in. He and Joseph got along alright, but never a perfect relationship. As a senior in high school and ready to begin the rest of his life, Leo took up fencing as an extracurricular activity, soon finding that he was a natural at it and, being one of the only people on the team, was soon elected as the captain.
After long hours in the summer of work in the garage, movie theater, and other odd jobs over town, he was able to secure the money he needed for his second dream: a motorcycle. It was a pretty basic one that didn't require a lot of money or effort to go into, but by God, it was a motorcycle alright. His first day of his senior year was one that he wouldn't ever forget. He had pulled into the parking lot on the back on his massive motorcycle and had instantly been transformed from the geek/loser/deviant he'd been at the end of his junior year and into the popular/boss-like/badass he'd always strived to be. Even though he didn't fit in with the rich kids anymore, he still did have the qualities the leader needed. He was good at public speaking, rallying support, appealing to other people. Just like his father, he'd turned out to be a natural born leader. But everyone has their weaknesses, right? Leo figured his out fast within two weeks of senior year: women. He couldn't keep away. They drew to him like moths to a flame and he didn't want to let them go. He found the presence of a girl at his side to be one of comfort. It was someone to connect with and someone to bond with at times of incredible stress. He didn't have many close friends but he did have plenty and plenty of girlfriends. He wasn't a player in that he had many girls at once; he just had incredibly bad luck when it came to staying in a relationship.
His mother, now pregnant again with twins, still married to Joseph struggles by, happy and content and still looking for love (she's not completely sure if Joseph is the one). According to a recent meeting that Leo had with his father, he lost the next re-election and now is looking for ways to run for Senate and eventually become the president. Leo doesn't have much confidence in his father to win, but he's not about to tell him that. Now, Leo looks for more and more in his life, always searching for the next lady to be his love and the next hurdle to jump over.

other notes
Leo is a pretty good guy. He's loyal and passionate for the things that he can devote himself to and he likes a good argument. Although everything forms well in his head and he's able to express his opinion on a topic pretty easily, Leo has trouble seeing the other side of situations. He's so used to getting what he wants from his parents that he doesn't know how to see another person's point of view of something he's doing. Usually, he's pretty good about being empathetic, but he doesn't always take it to mind. He can tell when people are generally happy or sad, but he doesn't really know what to do with that information if it's not a girl that he's dating. In fact, he doesn't take the time to get to know people that he isn't dating if they don't have something for him, such as a connection to a certain girl or something. In some ways, he's selfish and doesn't know how to have an actual friendship with another person. He's always wrapped up in his next girlfriend that having guy friends has never really occurred to him.
Cornelio is a pretty secretive person is keeping his feelings to himself. He isn't the guy to say "I love you" unnecessarily, but he is the one to get a lot cozier the minute a girl starts to reciprocate feelings. He knows that he's not an ugly guy, but he also knows that he's not the best looking or the most powerful. Ultimately, Leo is aiming for a steady girlfriend that will just make everything click. Although he's very much a romantic, he's never really felt close enough to a girl so say the three little words. Because his life revolves around whatever woman he's with at the time, his rebellion from his parents sometimes has to take the backseat so that he can please them and get on their good side. Because he's a fairly laid back guy when it comes to the actual hanging out part of being around girls, he prefers cuddling up with his girlfriend in his couch or bed with the DVD player and watching movies together, just enjoying each other's company. He's a personal guy who prefers being around a girl by herself than her group of friends.

book title Thumbelina
backstory In the story of "Thumbelina" by Hans Christian Anderson, the fairy prince is Thumbelina (Tiny/Maia)'s eventual husband. Because of her size and infinite beauty, she is coveted by many different creatures, such as toads and beetles and moles, but she does not wish to marry these things because they are all ugly in her eyes. Instead, the fairy prince, whose parents are the king and queen of all flowers, is the man she chooses to marry because she wishes to remain in the flowers. His role is that of her husband, because she feels as if she's found the place that she belongs the most and wishes to stay with them forever. They give her a pair of wings and she eventually becomes the queen of the flowers with the fairy prince ruling along beside her.
Later on, a movie was made about this story, going more in depth about the various suitors who chase after Thumbelina, although she escapes from all of them. Prince Cornelius (the fairy prince) eventually rescues her from all of their unwanted advances and marries her to live happily ever after (as you know most stories do).

age i just turned 17 on feb. 3rd.
gender i'm a guy.
rp experience about seven years, i think.
how you found ouac neopets. becket, i'm pretty sure.
rp sample "I couldn't agree more! We do need to get out of here before the guard manages to get his act together. I'll protect you, if need be." He said, brushing the danger off as if it were nothing while he followed behind Nakoma. He heard a skittering something behind him and he paused, his blond eyebrows raising. "And just who is this?" He asked, wondering why in the world a raccoon was following them. Most were supposed to be rabid and vicious and ignorant of your desires to be alone or your wish to get them to leave you alone. Instead, this one seemed to be following as if he had some sort of purpose and actually needed something from him. He peeked into his ragged messenger bag, looting around for a stray snack that he could manage to part with. He was charming enough to usually be able to pay for his food or meals with his promise of doing random jobs around town. So far, that was all he was really able to do because he didn't have the time to get one stand around job. Instead, he'd opted for tons of jobs all around the place that he coul be able to explore the city at the same time earning money for it. He enjoyed jumping around from place to place, learning where everything was while he performed menial tasks for random people he didn't even know. he bounced around, a re-usable man that people could ask multiple favors for as long as he got paid and/or a place to sleep and/or a meal to eat.
"Aha!" He said finally, pulling out a semi-crushed box of crackers from his bag and holding it out to the raccoon. He pulled a few out, tossing them on the ground to make sure that the raccoon, who was beginning to look more and more like a pet, would continue to follow them. He wanted the chance to pet it more thoroughly an maybe even hold it. But that would come later. As she began to point out various places to him, he nodded his head, his smile growing wider and wider. Sure, she cuold tell him what each and every building was but that didn't mean that he would know what they did inside and what it was like to be inside of them. Eventually, he would get to find out, but now wasn't the time for all of that. He stepped around a tree, wrapping his hand around the trunk and spinning around so that he was walking next to Nakoma at this point, "Yes, indeed! I am John Smith of Gray's Prairie, Texas, quite possibly one of the worst small towns in this entire U.S.A." He said cheerfully, putting his hands into his pockets and shifting his bag so that it was behind him and he could walk properly, nodding his head as they walked along. "Yeah, I'm homeless. I mean, I drift from place to place but, overall, I am homeless. I don't have a sturdy and reliable place to stay. I guess that's a bit of a challenge that I like to experience but it's still pretty annoying when I've had a long day and I have to find a place to crash and still don't know where to go. But things work out, usually. I mean, sleeping in the gutter is much better than being dead, right?"
The cheerful tone in his voice was able to give away the outstanding optimism he always semed to show even while talking about the most dreary of things. He bobbed his head while he walked next to her, a constant source of eagerness that was clear from the way he didn't seem to get upset over much. "Really? You would really let me stay with you for a while? At least, until I'm able to get back up on my feet? That would be fantastic!" He said excitedly, jumping forward a few steps as he twirled in a circle, holding his arms out in the air and tilting his head back. His eyes lit up as they landed on a diner just a bit ahead of them and he pushed his hands through his hair, trying to remember if he had any cash on him. He patted down his sides and his pockets until he found the last of the money he'd gotten from his last job. It was supposed to be enough to buy a nice shirt so that he could go into a formal interview, but it was beginning to look like it was going to go towards paying for a late night dinner to make up for shacking up for free with such a pretty little lady. "How about we get something to eat? My treat, of course." He smiled cordially, pulling the door of the diner open and waving his hand inside, ushering for her to go in. "And you're obviously not allowed to object because I'm going to pay for your food whether or not you want me to." He smiled cheerfully, looking over his shoulder to see if the raccoon was going to follow them in.
