personality
Polite, friendly, confident, unafraid, curious and a total sweetheart.
Gabrielle is all of the above and then some. She doesn't really see the bad in anybody. If they haven't personally victimized (haha, mean girls) her in any way, shape or form, she'll be nice to them. Even if they have, she'll still be civil towards them. As the age old saying goes: "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Gabrielle is incredibly polite. It doesn't matter how you treat her, she'll respond with the utmost respect. She always says 'please' and 'thank you.' There really isn't anybody she won't be polite to. Adults, classmates, roommates, strangers. You name them, Gabrielle is respectful.
Not only is she polite, Gabrielle is friendly. Her arms are open to anybody and everybody, whether they like her or not. It doesn't matter if they want to punch her in the face. She'll brush this off as them having a bad day or just not being in a good mood. She's very apologetic and believes 100% in second chances.
Gabrielle is also confident. She's not embarrassed over silly things. If she feels like bursting into song, she will. What people think of her comes in second to what she thinks of herself. As long as she's okay with whom she is, then others must be, too.
Gabrielle isn't afraid of many things. Blood and sharp objects, but that's pretty much it. This can sometimes lead to dangerous situations where she'll take it to far. She actually wants to skydive and bungee jump someday, because she feels that you need to 'live life to its fullest.'
Lastly, she's very curious. People often tell her 'curiosity killed the cat,' but she'll often say 'I'm not a cat though, am I?' If something catches her interest, she'll most likely be inspecting it. Gabrielle may even be distracted in the middle of a conversation by something. It's almost ADD, but not really. If that makes sense.
past
Gabrielle grew up not knowing her parents. She could remember her mother's soft, golden hair and her father's twinkling, blue eyes, but that was it. She often dreamt of these faceless strangers with tears in their eyes as they waved goodbye. With them are sharp objects of all sorts, dangerous and frightening. There is something about these images that haunt her, that affect her in daily routines.
Gabrielle looks for this couple often, knowing in her heart of hearts that she belongs with them. Then there are the needles. The thorns, pointed pencils, the knives. These sharp items terrify her, make her anxious and uneasy. This, though, pales in comparison to the sight of blood. It does not matter whose it is or if it is fresh, she'll pass out. One glimpse of just a few drops and she's unconscious. Gabrielle feels that this doesn't make sense. There were no traumatic experiences, no life-threatening moments. She feels that these irrational worries, these fears, were a part of her in some past life. That they aren't hers.
Gabrielle grew up and lived with her three aunts. The four of them lived in Half Moon Bay, California until Gabrielle turned ten. The reason is a mystery to Gabrielle. Their life there was prosperous and wholesome, they had no real reason to leave. Yet they did. They moved to New York. The other side of the country. Why New York? It was so incredibly different from their cozy, warm, seaside hometown. It was cold, rainy, busy and crowded. The next year was rather frightening and she couldn't seem to adjust. Soon, though, New York became less frightening and she was able to finally become used to it. Gabrielle began to attend Frank L Baum Academy once she turned fourteen. Freshman year was possibly more terrifying than the whole move and it took her much longer to take the viciousness that high school was.
Soon, though, just as before, she became used to it all. Friends were made, decisions made. She would no longer feel afraid or timid. Gabrielle had grown accustom to New York and high school.
present
Gabrielle is now a sophomore at Frank L. Baum Academy. She is taking the core classes along with Photo and Cooking. Her aunts wonder why she doesn't join in the Choir or take music classes. She insists that that is just something she loves to do for fun. Lately though, she's been thinking about it since she does love it. If not that, then she might end up joining the musical or something.
Gabrielle often sleeps in or falls asleep in class, something she can't stand. She's often fidgety about being late because her teachers have started to get bored of her 'I slept in' excuse.
She's begun to apply at places that hire fifteen-year olds. Mostly places at the Mall. The first question she ends up asking when asking for an application is if she'll have to work with sharp items. If it's a yes, she changes her mind. The fact that this stupid fear affects her so much really bothers her and she wants to get over it.
She visits her aunts every weekend. Sometimes, though, she stays at the school to work on things she's falling behind on. Gabrielle tries to stay awake, wherever she is, since she often dozes off, no matter what she is doing.
family
Gabrielle was raised and lived with her three aunts. She has trouble believing these women are her mothers' sisters. They do not look like her, they do not feel like relatives. They are family though. They don't talk of her parents much, something she appreciates and hates.
Aunt Lily, Aunt Mary and Aunt Fern are what she calls them.
Aunt Lily is usually the one giving orders and making decisions. She has a thing for the color pink and often fusses over her appearance as well as Gabrielle's. She's the rule maker and won't really stand for things not going the way she wants them to. Gabrielle loves her, she just wishes that she wouldn't be as bossy.
Aunt Mary is stubborn and tends to disagree with Lily. Mary is tough and very outspoken, something that Gabrielle has inhabited. Mary will often argue with Lily over most things, especially when it comes to the color pink. She feels that blue is much better and will even drag Gabrielle into an argument over it. Gabrielle loves her as well but she can't really stand it when her aunts fight.
Aunt Fern is probably Gabrielle's favorite simply because she is kind, helpful and is the peacemaker. Fern bakes cakes and other pastries at a local bakery and often smells delicious. She makes all of the birthday cakes and usually makes some sort of sweet each day. She loves to sing, as well, and has actually taught Gabrielle how to sing and now it's something she enjoys very much. Gabrielle loves Fern especially since she stands on the sidelines with her while Lily and Mary argue.

...literature*
book title Sleeping Beauty
backstory
Princess Aurora is born. Her and Prince Phillip are betrothed. Maleficent is furious that she wasn't invited to the party and curses the Princess. On her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. The Good Fairy, Merryweather, changes the curse so that Aurora will only fall into a deep sleep instead of dying. The King still orders that all spinning wheels are burned and banished. The Good Fairies know, though, that this will not stop Maleficent and offer to take Aurora where she'll be safe.
The Fairies raise her in the forest as a peasant girl, keeping her safe from Maleficent. All is well for the sixteen years until Maleficent's pet raven discovers them and reports to the Evil fairy. Aurora, upon arriving at the castle with the Good Fairies, is tricked into pricking her finger. She falls into the deep sleep and will only be woken at true love's kiss. Prince Phillip is brought to Aurora by the Good Fairies (after defeating Maleficent) and awakens Aurora with a kiss. They all live happily ever after~!
