“Tequila is good. Although if you really want a good time, Everclear is the way to go."
Cody chuckled. “So you were into drinking once,” He remarked.
"I can tell. 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy; Thou art thyself, though not a Montague. What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot, Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O, be some other name! What's in a name? that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet; So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd, Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name, And for that name which is no part of thee Take all myself."
He had to stop himself from picking her up and swinging her right there just for knowing the play and loving it too. He resorted to a shy little smile instead, watching her. He had always understood it better than his peers. When the teacher wanted someone to explain what had just happen, he had always been the one chosen.
"How is it that you got into Romeo and Juliet? I mean, I remember reading it in classes and most boys would openly groan at the mere sight of the book."
Cody wasn’t exactly ready for the question. He shrugged. “I’m not sure. I just thought it was a beautiful play, very well-written, with an amazing story-line. How about you? Even the girls in my class thought that it was very boring.”

"So you were into drinking once.”
He grinned and she smiled back, shrugging.
"My brother is the "bad child" in the family. As soon as I hit my rebellious stage, he and his friends pulled me into their little games. So you could say it's all Karson's fault."
He shrugged when she asked him about his love of Shakespeare.
“I’m not sure. I just thought it was a beautiful play, very well-written, with an amazing story-line. How about you? Even the girls in my class thought that it was very boring.”
Nayeli considered for a moment, her grey eyes far away.
"I used to have a real thing for princesses and fairytales. I would hear them all the time. I was absolutely convinced that I would be swept up by a prince someday and live happily ever after. But when I heard this one, it intrigued me. There isn't always a happy ending. But that doesn't make the love less real."
She looked up at him again, blushing as she caught herself rambling a little.

Cody laughed. “Every family has one.”

She had a faraway look in her eyes. He smiled just watching her, which grew when she blushed. “If anything,” He said, “the fact that it doesn’t have a happy ending makes it even more real, because they don’t always have happy endings.”

Cody laughed.
“Every family has one.”
Nayeli's smile faltered a little. He had no idea. Karson was almost sin incarnate. But hey. He hadn't killed anyone. Yet. She shifted uncomfortably at the thought, her stomach boiling with anger at her parents. Maybe if they would take the time to care about their kids, Karson might be getting professional help.
You know what? It was probably better that Cody didn't know.
He smiled widely at her.
“If anything, the fact that it doesn’t have a happy ending makes it even more real, because they don’t always have happy endings.”
Elle shook her head, gazing off thoughtfully.
"I would have to disagree. A lot of unhappy endings never had real love to begin with."
She knew that from experience. A little too much experience.
"Whoa. Conversation is getting too deep for me. I can barely swim!" She joked in a lighthearted manner that didn't really match her grey eyes.

Her smile faltered and she shifted her feet, and it caused him to frown. Then she shook her head and gazed off, remarking, "I would have to disagree. A lot of unhappy endings never had real love to begin with."
He looked at her strangely. “A lot, yes, but not all.”
He kept seeing how sad she looked. Even though she had tried covering it up by joking about the conversation, it didn’t match her. The eyes were the window to the soul, and her deep grey ones showed more pain than he thought a beautiful girl should bear. Cody gently pulled her chin up so that she was looking at him.
“True love, Miss Nayeli Roy, is possible, and it can end unhappily, like in Romeo and Juliet. And it may seem like the unhappy endings never had real love to start with, but I assure you, even if it wasn’t felt by the other person, it was love. It just wasn’t mutual, and that was the downfall.”
It was only then that he was touching her hit him. Her skin was so soft. His hand molded almost perfectly to the shape of her chin. Just the feel of her made his heart begin to skip. Quickly he drew his hand away from her face, shoving one of them into a pocket and using the other to smooth his hair, trying to his face and regain his composure before he also slipped that hand into a pocket. “Sorry…” He muttered softly, averting his blue eyes.

“A lot, yes, but not all.”
He stared at her for a few moments, seeming as if he was trying to decipher her facial expressions. Darn her inept poker face. She suddenly felt his fingers slide beneath her chin and tip it up gently. Nayeli's breath caught, which made it difficult to mask her surprise.
Nay gave him a weak smile that quite clearly said, 'Oh, you poor fool. If you only knew. Love is cruel.'
The closeness was getting to her. She looked up in his blue eyes, liking the soft expression. He seemed quite sincere, despite his somewhat old-fashioned ideas about love.
Nayeli didn't know what to think of this. On the one hand, they had met only minutes ago and here they were, in deep conversations and staring into one another's eyes. On the other hand, she very much enjoyed his company, conversation and, if she was honest, his apparent fondness of her. Her heart beat a little faster. Nayeli's face flushed a dark shade of pink.
He pulled away, looking a little surprised by his own actions.
“Sorry…”
She looked back at him, a little shy.
"It's fine. Don't worry about it."

She blushed. He couldn’t tell if he was blushing or not. All he knew was that his heart was pounding in his chest, the blood roaring through his ears. His senses were on high. He could see every little shade of grey in her eyes, every tiny hue of pink that spread against her cheeks. Did she really smell that good naturally or was that perfume?
His mouth was dry. He felt like he could feel the blood course through his veins, and he held back a groan, running his fingers through his hair. He noticed the song had ended, but that was about it. “So, um, do you want to stay for another song or do you want to go get something to drink?” Anything to keep him busy, keep him moving, so that he wasn’t just standing here drowning in confused feelings.

They both stood awkwardly for a moment. Nayeli swayed just a bit, feeling dizzy.
"So, um, do you want to stay for another song or do you want to go get something to drink?"
The absolute last thing she needed was to pass out in front of this guy.
"I think I'm gonna go get a drink."
Elle walked carefully to the bar stools and got up onto one, spinning around in her seat to face the bartender.
"Water. Again."
He handed her a water bottle and she drank quickly, sighing when she put it down.
What the heck was wrong with her? What brought on this weird... hell, she didn't even know what to call it. Connection?
Nayeli took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

That had definitely been weird. When she had walked off, he took a deep breath, but he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. It was a bit awkward standing on the dance floor by himself. Sure there were drunks falling onto him, asking to dance, whatever they wanted. Normally he would have agreed to their little fantasies, but this time it was different. He was almost disgusted by them. He pushed them off and walked over to the bar. “I want a…” Shit, he didn’t even know what the hell he wanted anymore.
“What do you want?” The bartender asked, somewhat confused.
Cody smiled weakly at him. “A water. Sorry, I want a water.”
Wait. Did he seriously just order a water? He could never remember ordering water at a bar. Ever.
“Damn girl,” he growled. What right did she have to just walk into his life like that and turn it completely upside down in a matter of minutes? He grabbed the water the bartender handed him and chugged it. “Good thing that wasn't a beer,” he joked to no one in particular before groaning and resting his head on his arms on the bar.

Elle leaned her elbows on the counter, head resting on her hands. What was with her? She was impulsive and quick to fall for the guys she met, but in just one night? That was not okay.
She finished off her water and went back to the dance floor. Nayeli relaxed by dancing, but it didn't help right now. Another song started and she recognized it from her dance team, when they had memorized and performed the dance Justin Timberlake had done in his video. Nay did the steps easily, almost second nature now.
A few guys that she vaguely recognized grinned at her and attempted to imitate the moves and she smirked at them. One guy that she had met a few days ago danced with her, grinning and lip-syncing the words.
Elle glanced around and saw where Cody was sitting. She made kinda shy eye contact, then looked away, somewhat irritated by the way he made her feel. What was that all about?{Dance moves reference: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSVHoHyErBQ )

Another song came on, and he swiveled his chair to look at the dance floor. His eye caught the shy one of Nayeli, and he groaned and put his head back down on the table. No, no, no, no. He couldn’t like someone that quickly, it was just impossible, right?
Then again, in Romeo and Juliet, they fell in love at first sight. But this couldn’t be like that. No, this was real life. There was no love at first sight for most. It was just lust, he decided. Then he noticed she was dancing with another guy, and a jealous knot formed in the pit of his stomach. Jealousy? Impossible. Either way, it made him get up and move across to her, gently shoving the guy out of the way. “Sorry bro,” Cody told him, “But I do believe it’s my turn for a dance.”
He grabbed her hand and led her away from them, then looked at her. “You never did finish teaching me how to dance,” he said as a lame excuse for his impulsive reaction.

Elle danced with her acquaintance for only a few more moments when Cody suddenly appeared, pushing him away. Her eyebrows flew up, surprised.
“Sorry bro,” Cody told him, “But I do believe it’s my turn for a dance.”
She desperately tried to squash the butterflies she got when he took her hand and tugged her away.
Seriously? Butterflies? No.
Nayeli Carita Roy didn't get butterflies, damnit! She GAVE them! She looked up into his pretty, deep blue eyes as he spoke.
“You never did finish teaching me how to dance.”
Her lips curved up into a sly smile. So that's how it was, huh?
Trying to decide whether she was excited because he wanted to be by her, or more because she was dancing and teaching dance, she demonstrated a couple of steps. Nayeli turned to him, grinning.
"You really need to want it. That's how you do well. So if you hesitate, you won't do it right."
Kinda like life.

She smiled at him, and he felt something start twisting in his stomach. He ignored the growing feeling as he watched her demonstrate a couple of moves. He repeated them, laughing as he knew he did it completely wrong.
Yeah, that was bad.
“My dear, I seem to be a horrible dancer compared to you. I would love if you taught me how to be /half/ as good as you. There is only one move I know.”

Nayeli tried not to giggle as she watched him stumble. Cody really wasn't THAT bad. He just needed practice. He laughed as well.
"My dear, I seem to be a horrible dancer compared to you. I would love if you taught me how to be /half/ as good as you. There is only one move I know.”
She raised her eyebrow saucily at him.
"And what would that be..? Falling over?"
Nay gave him a teasing, devilish smile. She loved to tease people. But it was really fun to do so with Cody. Why, she had no idea. But she felt rather comfortable with him, despite the fact that she barely knew him.

"And what would that be..? Falling over?"
Cody grinned. “Nah.” He had to resist brushing a piece of hair out of her beautiful face.
Quickly he spun her around and then gently dipped her, his face dangerously close. “Catching you.”
