( she's not broken she's just a baby )
The last couple weeks were, quite frankly, and under secret by penalty of a painful death, a few of the best that Rose Mercer had experienced in her short eighteen years.
This was, in part, due to her new friend, Guillermo. And unlike her past 'new friends', she actually enjoyed being around him when they weren't 'doing the deed'. Not that any romantic feelings were popping up, definitely not on Rose's end. They were like Bro's. Homies. Padres. Throwing popcorn at the screen when the Knick's didn't score, WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUSLY OPEN, and keeping her company as she worked on her Baby. There was of course sex, attraction, flirting. But it would seem that Rose found a friend in Guillermo. And as if to add to this great boon of friendship, she had found a shopping, mall rat, uber diva friend in Mallory.
When it rains it pours.
As her lunch break started to roll around, Rose went into the bathroom of the her Uncle's garage to get ready. Her and Guillermo were meeting up, NOT A DATE, but a simple lunch between friends. She put on a pair of nude stockings, which were silky smooth, and a striped pair of vintage shorts that buttoned near the sides, and hugged her slim hips attractively. A simple cotton pink tank top, tasteful, but form fitting, tucked in neatly; and a denim crop jacket. Her boots went up, about, to her mid calves, with studs above the heel. A locket, which had been a gift from her Uncle, and finally a adorable carousel bracelet. Her copper brown hair laid naturally, thick with curls, and she applied her make up with natural tones.
All and all, she looked pretty damn banging.
But it was for her benefit! Not to be mistaken as a ploy to impress Guillermo, at all.
Walking out of the bathroom, she heard a cat call come from Stefano, who grinned at her from behind a car. "Well, shooki shookie. Where are you off to Bruja?"
Rose raised her eyebrow, but otherwise gave no indication at his tone. "Out to lunch-"
"With Guillermo?" Hiro asked, sliding from under the car, his face smudged heavily with oil. Her big, blue, eyes turned deadly, deciding it was none of their Goddamn business.
"That's a yes."
"Why don't you get dolled up to go out to lunch with us?"
"Cause she's in lu-ove!" Stefano said, putting his hand on his heart and fluttering his eye lashes. Yuk Yuk Yuk, assholes, they laughed at her expense.
She checked her lipstick in the reflection of the car, as if unstirred by the dimwitted duo. "If you two knew anything, you'd know this is how I dress when I'm not at work. And if I want to look nice for my friends, that's really none of your damn business." Her voice was sweet and conversational, despite the harsh words.
Hiro stood, looking stung by her words. "We ain't your friends, Rosie?"
"God, I hope not." She muttered, as Stefano nudged Hiro.
"Nah Bro, we just ain't that kind of friend." He added, suggestively.
Hiro put a rag on his head, as if it was hair, and batted his eyes at Stefano. "Aye, Guillermo! Como sta loco Taco Taco!" Hiro said in a terrible falsetto, garbling what little Spanish he knew, and stringing it together to sound like a love stuck puppy.
Stefano, playing along, took Hiro's hands and spoke in a deep bass voice, playing the roll of Guillermo. "Rosa mi amore-"
Having enough of that, Rose took the power washer and hosed them swiftly. Soaked, and red where they were directly hit, both the boys looked at her in irritation. "You know, if you idiots had sex lives of your own, you wouldn't need to worry so much about mine..." Laughing she turned away from them, stopping in sudden surprise to see Guillermo in the doorway, much to the amusement of Hiro and Stefano. "Oh, hey there-" She said, her voice nervous, not quite sure how much he had heard.

Guillermo felt happier than he had in a long time. He walked down the street, kicking a stone between his feet, having gotten bored of riding his skateboard. Yet, the board was propped up against his shoulder. He was on his way to meet with Rose at her uncle's shop. He was going to lunch with her. Not a date, per se, but time spent with a friend. Yeahhh.. That was it. Just.. buddy time. Guillermo grimaced, hating the sound of it. The past few weeks, he and Rose had been screwing around (literally and figuratively.) He didn't actually mind that she hung around and they hung out together nearly constantly. They were neighbors. Wasn't that normal? Not in New York. Either way, he felt like he could depend on her and she was a best friend of sorts. She was there to have fun, but she didn't take his shit. He approached the garage, stopping near the entry when he heard voices. "With Guillermo?" Was that Hiro? "That's a yes." And Stefano? "Why don't you get dolled up to go out to lunch with us?" "Cause she's in lu-ove!" Guillermo felt his pulse quicken. "If you two knew anything, you'd know this is how I dress when I'm not at work. And if I want to look nice for my friends, that's really none of your damn business." His pulse slowed again, a pressure in his chest descending on him. He wasn't disappointed. That would be fucking dumb. "We ain't your friends, Rosie?" "God, I hope not." He chuckled at her tone. "Nah Bro, we just ain't that kind of friend.". "Aye, Guillermo! Como sta loco Taco Taco!" Hiro squeaked, fluttering his eyelashes with a towel on his head like a saint. "Rosa mi amore-" Stefano took Hiro's hands like a Latin lover. Guillermo snickered silently from the doorway. "You know, if you idiots had sex lives of your own, you wouldn't need to worry so much about mine..." She turned and instantly looked uncomfortable "Oh, hey there-" He couldn't hide his smile at the display he had just seen. He addressed the two guys working on the car. "Ay, vatos. No wonder you don't have sex lives. I mean, Hiro over there is a Justin-Bieber-wannabe and Stefano, you're doing it all wrong. You win a girl like this." He grinned at Rose and took her face in his hands. His face took a serious expression, as if everything he said came right from within him. Oddly enough, the words weren't hard in coming. "Tus ojos brillan como estrellas. Tú eres la muchacha más hermosa del mundo. Te daré todo lo que deseo, mi amor." He winked at her, whispering, "I'm joking, so don't punch me." outfit for those who care: i46.tinypic.com/11t03v5.jpg

He laughed when Rose tugged him out of the garage, nearly fuming. "Let's get out of here before something else happens." She seemed to relax once they were out and she smacked his arm lighly. "I oughta beat you, encouraging them like that. You know they're going to be asking me to teach them Spanish for the next week." "You could never beat me," Guillermo grinned, pushing her up against an alley wall, giving her a big-eyed innocent look before kissing her. He released her, seeming to think better of starting something at the moment. "So, where are we off too?" She said, smiling. He really liked Smiley-Rose. Of course, he also liked Angry-Rose and Lazy-Rose and all the other Roses, but Smiley-Rose was best. "Anywhere you feel like. You know me, I can eat anything and everything." He put an arm over her shoulders, gripping her in a one armed hug before halting to drop his skateboard. "You wanna ride with me? It's faster. And a lot more fun." His dark eyes twinkled mischievously as he hopped up onto it, doing a few tricks to get the hang of it first, before holding out his hand to Rose.

"You could never beat me." He said said, pinning her against the wall, his eyes oddly innocent. Guillermo kissed her, his lips working fast before releasing suddenly. It was for the best. After all, one shouldn't start what one couldn't finish.
She grinned, her eyebrow raising. "Don't underestimate me, Chico, or I might have to prove you wrong." Her grin was daring, but let it go. Another time, another place. Maybe later.
"Anywhere you feel like. You know me, I can eat anything and everything." He replied, hugging her with one arm and dropping his board.
"There's a little place a couple blocks from here. Sopa excelente. Vamos a ir." She started to walk forward, but stopped as he started to do a few tricks on his board.
Guillermo held out his hand to her, his eyes burning slightly. "You wanna ride with me? It's faster. And a lot more fun." The grin was infectious, as she looked at her shoes doubtfully. Why? Why would you fail her now shoes! But his smile, the way he held out his hand, she had to give it a shot. She took his hand, praying that her well tuned graces took hold.
Stepping gently on to the skateboard, she held on to him tightly, having never before been on one of these contraptions. "Don't let me fall.... Do I just hang on to you then?" She couldn't hide the loss of her usual confidence, but at least she wasn't wobbling around like a fool. Props to wearing heels since she was twelve.

"Don't underestimate me, Chico, or I might have to prove you wrong." "I think I'd like to see that," he muttered, the corners of his mouth turning up slyly. "There's a little place a couple blocks from here. Sopa excelente. Vamos a ir." She looked at him doubtfully. Then she looked down and he glanced at her shoes, then rolled his eyes. Rose would. She got on slowly, gripping him tightly, making him smile wider. She seemed like she was fine on her feet in heels, but they might have been better off if she'd worn sneakers. "Don't let me fall.... Do I just hang on to you then?" Her voice was wary and a little skeptical. "Just hang on to my shoulders. I'll warn you if I have to turn. Or you could even hop on my back and I'll just carry you." He smiled at her. "Haven't you ever skated before?" The prospect of teaching her at some point was too good to resist. He turned her head to look at him, his brown eyes locking with her blue ones briefly. "Don't worry about falling. I'd catch you if you did." Wow, cheesy enough for you?

"Just hang on to my shoulders. I'll warn you if I have to turn. Or you could even hop on my back and I'll just carry you." She bit her lip, but shook her head and gripped him tighter. No, she had this. She didn't need anyone to carry her. Her arms wrapped around his neck, careful not to choke him, seeing just over his shoulder thanks to the height added by the heels. If she could take an engine apart at the age of 11, she could certainly handle this. "Haven't you ever skated before?"
"Can't say I have." There was a slight bitter tone. Was he making fun of her? This is why she loathed trying knew things. She knew what she was good at dammit. But still, stubborn as she was, she braced herself.
He looked at her, his brown penetrating her round blue eyes. "Don't worry about falling. I'd catch you if you did."
Thinking that he was joking again, she laughed, rolling her eyes and bracing herself. "C'mon Fabio! I only have forty five minutes for lunch." He was trying to make her blush, she knew it. That's what charmers did. They charmed. Lucky for Rose, she was immune.
Well... basically.

"Can't say I have." Her voice had an edge, like she was daring him to say something more about it. He laughed, his hair falling into his eyes as he shook it. Despite the cheesy line, he had been startled to find that it was true. He really would want to catch her if she fell. That was why it bothered him when she laughed and rolled her eyes. "C'mon Fabio! I only have forty five minutes for lunch." "I was serious you know," he muttered to himself. He made sure she was hanging on before he put one foot on the pavement, pushing the wheels forward swiftly. The ancient board creaked and Guillermo pushed it faster, hopping up just in time to turn and pull Rose's head down to duck under a pole in the alley. He had to stop hanging around alleys. But either way, they were good shortcuts. He shot her a smile as she clung to him. "Which way, Bruja?" He taunted her with the nickname her shop buddies had used. He was gonna pay for it later..

"I was serious you know" He muttered, making her eyes go round as they took off. No. No. She had to of heard him wrong. He had muttered after all. Nothing to freak out about. She clutched him close as the rolled down the sidewalk, gasping a little. Rose hated her gasp, as it made it sound much younger than she was.
While they zoomed along, a lot faster than she had thought they'd be going, she wondered two things: If this was good for her shoes, and if Guillermo had said what she thought he said. Probably not, right? Guillermo didn't believe in love. He had said so when they first met. And, he knew she had no interest in it. No, he couldn't have said that. What they had was a friendship, sure, but emotionally unbonded. She could see other men, and he could see other....
Jealousy stabbed her gut like a cold knife.
No, no, no. What was good for Gander, was good for goose, right?
Clutching him as they made their way through an Alley, she heard the damning words: "Which way, Bruja?" She scowled up at him, letting him know her displeasure, and letting him stew on what revenge she had in mind. Hint: Handcuffs. And not in a good way.
She smiled at him sweetly, too sweetly. "43rd and North street. Right next to Alejandro's Deli."

Rose let out a surprised squeal and he threw back his head, laughing. She was certainly something else. High heels, honestly.. She glared at him and he gave her a devilish smile. She was gonna kill him later. "43rd and North street. Right next to Alejandro's Deli." He went a bit fast around a turn, wobbling a bit with the weight imbalanced on the board. He wrapped an arm around his back to make sure Rose was steady and he kept going. They ended up at the restaurant sooner that they would have, and Guillermo let her step off the board before he kicked it up into the air and caught it, grinning. He felt a bit on edge from the glare she had given him before, but nevertheless he smiled and gave a sarcastic bow. "After you." I know it's epic-super-short!! *cowers* SORRY!!

"After you." He said, bowing sarcastically. Smirking, she entered the restaurant, her chin high. She gained a few glances, whether it be because she was wearing shorts in October, or because said shorts made her ass look AMAZING, she was unsure. And she really didn't care. Her mind was elsewhere at the moment.
"Tus ojos brillan como estrellas. Tú eres la muchacha más hermosa del mundo. Te daré todo lo que deseo, mi amor."
"Tus ojos brillan como estrellas. Tú eres la muchacha más hermosa del mundo. Te daré todo lo que deseo, mi amor."
"Tus ojos brillan como estrellas. Tú eres la muchacha más hermosa del mundo. Te daré todo lo que deseo, mi amor."
He... was an amazing actor. The only other option, Rose didn't even want to think about. The intensity in his eyes, the smoothness of his voice, the gentle touch of his hands... it was distracting. Of course, as he had stated, he was joking. Making a few Yuks for Hiro and Stefano. Nothing to worry about.
Rose sat down, grinning at Guillermo brightly. Yeah, just friends. Good friends even. He got her. "You should try the French Onion Soup, with the Asiago Grilled Sandwich on Tomato Basil bread. I get it every time I come here."
Behind Guillermo's seat, a strapping young man smiled at Rose, only gaining a fleeting smile in return. Which struck her as odd. Pushing her coppery hair behind her ears, she scanned the menu, though she knew what she would order anyway.
Anything to get her mind off from... things. And feelings. And things.

She gave Guillermo a smirk and walked confidently into the restaurant. Even though she smiled at him, he thought she looked a bit distracted as they sat down, but he couldn't be sure. Rose seemed to be thinking hard and he wasn't sure whether or not he was allowed to interrupt the thought process. "You should try the French Onion Soup, with the Asiago Grilled Sandwich on Tomato Basil bread. I get it every time I come here." He nodded vaguely. Sounded interesting enough. Really, he could eat just about anything, so it wasn't that big of a deal to him. He watched as she flashed a smile that was directed behind him and he jerked his head to see a young guy grinning at Rose. He felt his fists clench at his sides and quickly loosened them. What the hell was his problem? So she smiled at the guy. So what? It's not like she was his. He watched her push her hair out of her face and disappear behind the menu. He smiled softly and looked down at his own menu.

Post by MALLORY TORRES on Feb 28, 2011 19:33:58 GMT -5
Mallory wasn’t sure what had possessed her to want to pay Rose a visit, but while she was dancing around her house she felt the strangest urge to see Rose. They really hit things off, and Mallory enjoyed Rose’s company more than her own…almost. So Mallory called Robbie and got him to prepare her Mustang for a little drive. She was going to pay Rose a visit at her job, maybe even take her out to a late lunch or something. Mallory felt like a kid with a new toy and she just couldn’t get enough of having Rose around. Being the Queen Bitch that everyone hated usually left one alone and girlfriend-less.
After Robbie escorted Mallory to her car, she gave him a quick peck on the cheek and he nearly fainted. Mallory never was this polite and sweet to Robbie, so the sudden movement left him shell shocked. She giggled and slid onto the sleek, black leather of her front seat. Robbie closed the door and smiled. She adjusted her mirrors, buckled her seatbelt, tested the gas(secretly Mallory loved the roar of her baby), and gave her reflection a cute wink before putting the car in drive and slowly pulling onto the almost bare street.
Finding the shop was half the battle, not getting her clothes dirty was the most important and having Rose freshen up before she got into her car. Getting out of the car, Mallory made her way to the front of the building to a double wide garage. Both sides were open and three men were working diligently.
“Excuse me.” Mallory called out nervously, while she searched for Rose.
All three guys, Rose no where in sight, turned their attention to Mallory. Rose’s Uncle smiled and signaled to one of the guys to help her. The guy wiped his hands and ran it through his hair, adding a bit of black to his hair.
“The name’s Hiro. I practically own this place, so what can I help YOU with?” The man asked while putting stress on the last ‘I’ and ‘you.’ Mallory remembered what Rose told her about them, ‘Keep it bitchy and leave no prisoners.’ Smiling Mallory shook her head and made her way to the other man, Stefano.
“Oh, Hey there. How can I help you?” Stefano asked cooly as he gave her a sly wink.
“Just need Rose.” Mallory said glancing back at Hiro who had returned to the car that he was working on, and she could hear him grumbling.
“Ignore him. But Rose? Why? She can’t…work… on you effectively.” Stefano’s voice lowered to a whisper as he leaned in. “Now what can I REALLY help you with?” He’s breath was hot and sticky on Mallory’s neck and the smell of grease, oil, and body odor hung heavily on him.
“Back up, hombre.” Mallory said as she gave him a slight shove backwards. “Just tell me were Rose is, like now.” Mallory crossed her arms impatiently and gave Stefano her best ‘bitch’ face.
“Geez. She left. Went that way with Guillermo.” Stefano stated as he turned back to his car, while grumbling.
Mallory smiled and turned heel, “Oh and boys,” Mallory looked over her shoulder as she caught the two guys’ attention. She bent down to pick up a ten dollar bill that she had accidentally dropped. “Thanks for the help.” She finished as she stood, but poked her ass out a bit. She walked out and tossed the ten in a random sink in the corner of the shop. Mallory slid back into her car and drove around to find the place that Rose and Guillermo had decided to take their little ‘date’ to. She noticed Rose, but Guillermo’s back was to Mallory, so she turned into a parking lot across the street. Getting of the car, Mallory nearly sprinted across the street and into the little place. She smiled as she noticed Rose was still facing her, but the guy she was with looked…familiar.
“Rose! Hey!” Mallory called form the entrance as she made her way to their table. “And this must be…” Her eyes fell on his face, “WILLIAM?” Shock…Complete Shock.

( she's not broken she's just a baby )
It was an almost awkward silence, as Rose pretended to read the menu. It gave her a very slight delight, when Guillermo whipped around to look at the smiling guy, who merely nodded in greeting. But she kept her face blank, seemingly completely absorbed in the menu. When it came down to it, as the waiter approached, she ordered what she always did and no longer had the menu to absorb her attention.
Looking out the window, her heart stopped as a Shelby Mustang parked outside the Bistro. "Oh- Oh my God." It was pink. Not that Rose really had that big of a beef with pink... but Holy Pink. Holy Hot Pink. She leaned forward, whispering to Guillermo, awestruck. "That's a Shelby Mustang! Who would paint it-" Mallory. Grinning, Rose rested her chin in her hand, getting ready for the Hurricane.
Though, apparently not prepared enough...
“Rose! Hey!” Rose smiled and waved at her shopping buddie, who eyes trailed over to Guillermo. “And this must be… WILLIAM?”
Confused, Rose's blue eyes fell on Guillermo's face. But then it all came back to her.
***"¡Por supuesto! Para que conste, soy Guillermo. Will, if you like."***
Oh God. No.
***"William is dark, mysterious, and rough around the edges."***
Closing her mouth, she squared her jaw slightly, attempting to keep a neutral persona as their food was served. "Well, what a small world." Her voice was tart, but otherwise nonchalant, dipping her sandwich into her soup. Her stomach felt a little queasy, but she would die before letting either of them know that.
How would Mallory react? How would Guillermo react? It scorched Rose that she had met Guillermo first, which meant that they he had... done the deed... with her after meeting Rose. But that was fine. JUST FINE! Guillermo could see whomever he likes, whenever he likes.

"Oh- Oh my God. That's a Shelby Mustang! Who would paint it-" Rose was grinning from ear to ear. He smiled at her then heard the worst sound in the world. The return of the one-night-stand. “Rose! Hey!” Rose grinned and waved over at the source of the voice. He began to pray silently. Um, God. I know I haven't been a bible thumper or even attended church since my grade school years, but really? This is how you tell me I need to get it together? I'd really appreciate it if this would be a totally different girl with a similar voice. I'll stop banging around. I'll call my dad. I'll take school super seriously and get a good job. The girl came into view and his hopes sank “And this must be… WILLIAM?” His eyes widened guiltily and he shifted his gaze around. He made his eyes squint in confusion, "Um.. hi." He couldn't honestly say that he remembered her name. Guillermo watched Rose give him a confused gaze, her blue eyes suddenly hardening under a comprehension. Rose's jaw was set, "Well, what a small world." Flinching at her tone, he avoided her gaze. Wow. She was mad.
