personality
Dante, in short is powerful, good looking and very influential on people and knows it. Not only does he know it, he uses it to his greatest advantage.
He is a great manipulator and loves money with a passion. He could talk a rock into changing into a feather if rocks had ears and the ability to change itself. He is snide, suave and debonair but at the same time he can be a down right cad.
Coming from the city he is a man of the city. He knows people and can always find exactly what you want, whether it is an item, or information. Dante knows the city like the back of his hand. He also knows full well what he is and plays it up and is trying to find others like him.
past
Dante grew up alone, with a group of boys in an orphanage. He quickly established himself as the leader of the 4 other boys and they gave the teachers there every run for their money they could. From schemes to tormenting the others in the home, to sneaking out at night.
It was on these night's getaways that the boys met the the people of the New York Underground. A group of men and women dealing in anything from fights, drugs and women, to drink, chocolates and money. The Mafia. They at once saw the potential in Dante and a man named Giovanni took him under his wing.
The years passed and Giovanni taught Dante everything there was to know about trafficking and money making all while avoiding the law.
When Dante was 21, in deep with the Italian Mafia in New York, Giovanni gave him a business, a business that Dante brought to a thriving, booming night club.
Down the Rabbit Hole, quickly became the place to be, with an owner that performed on stage, mingled and really got to know the patrons. Little did they know that below the stage there was a whole second club. Gambling, black market drinks, dancers of all kinds resided below with betting on everything from weather the next day to the next president will be.
When he turned 22, he started having dreams, dreams about a past life. Odd dreams about a castles, hearts, tea, cats, queens and cards. It fascinated him. At first he thought it must have been some of the alcohol he was getting into, but he proved that wrong upon still having the dreams after 2 months of no drink. As the months went by, Dante realized that the dreams always focused on one person, the king of hearts and would always be from his point of view.
He went to Giovanni, now in his 70's, for advice. Giovanni told him that Dante was one of many, a reincarnation of a character from a book. Dante thought the old man was clearly off his rocker and refused to believe such a ludicrous idea. Giovanni went on to explain that it wasn't so ludicrous when one thought about it. It turned out that he was the reincarnation of Bill Sikes. He wouldn't tell Dante much more, but he did warn that finding out one's place was a personal journey and Dante would have to find the rest out on his own.
present
Kings runs the successful nightclub, raking in money from every possible angle he can muster. Even with all his dealings he is in good graces with the law, having never missed paying his taxes and always being respectful when they raid his club (an almost weekly occurrence from some tip) the police, however, never find anything.
Since discovering what he is, more memories coming back to him little by little, he makes a hobby of looking out for others like him, either pushing them in the right direction or just messing with them. So far he has had no such luck and this has made him a bit annoyed.

5 pm it was almost time. The club had been cleaned and the lights dimmed. On the large stage the night's entertainment was already warming up. His dancers too were prepared on stage, talking about the timing of certain steps. A small grin spread across Dante's lips. Tonight he wore black denim pants, chains dangling at each hip. He wore a tattered white tee underneath a snazzy black blazer, his hair gelled and messed up just so.
"Dant'" Came a voice from behind him. He turned around, seeing a worried Jack, his second in command, a guy he had grown up with.
"What's wrong?" Dante asked, his brow furrowing.
"We got issued..." he said pausing, "Below decks."
No more was said, it wasn't needed. The two men walked back to the kitchen, ducking passed the Chef who was slicing meat, and to the walk in refrigerator. Dante stepped inside, the cold blast of air rushing to meet him as he walked briskly to the back, pulled a cucumber box off the shelf and twisted a small knob on the wall. The fridge moaned and then silently, the back wall slid to the side revealing a stairway leading down. There was more then one way 'down the rabbit hole' so to speak, but the staff entrance was one of the fastest, the other two being in either bathroom behind the left stalsl.
The stairs led into a large, smokey room, a group of men already sitting at one of the card tables, colored lights shown everywhere. Scantly, colorfully clad women in top hats and cuffs were already dancing on a smaller stage, stright underneath where the larger one sat. Black lights caused the cards to glow and strobe lights already pulsed. The men at the table were deep within their card game, a few of the heavier men smoking.
"I'm telling you," one growled, "With my hand, there's no way that Frankie can hold two aces." A large man with a heavy Italian accent boomed. He wore a dark tweed suit, a fedora tilted on his balding head.
"Yous callin' me a cheater Starling?" The man called Frankie said back, a warning tone in his voice.
Jack nodded to the table. and Dante smiled knowingly, clapping his hands together and stepping forward. "Gentlemen, gentlemen, I see your 3 day long game is still enduring. What seems to be the problem?"
"He's cheating," A thin man with an eye patch and a mustache said, laying his cards on the table, flipping his hand in Frankie's direction.
"Quite an accusation, isn't it?" Dante said, looking at each man in turn, eyeing the cards on the table, the flop and the discard pile.
"I don't take kindly to cheaters," the large Starling sneered. "I put a lot of money to gamble here I don't want to know I'm being swindled out of my own dough."
"This is solved so easily gentlemen," He held out a hand to Frankie. "Let me see," Frankie looked worried, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and he looked at each of the men he was sitting with, swallowing hard. Finally he handed his hand to Dante who looked at it, flipped through them and smiled. "I believe all things are in order gentlemen, continue your game." His expression was cold and harsh as he glanced at Frankie as he took his cards. Frankie gasped and Dante turned, heading back to the stairs. Jack quickened to catch up with him.
"What happened, what'd you do?"
Dante held up his hand, flipping his fingers. A card appeared, the Ace of Hearts. "He was cheating, make sure he's not allowed in anymore." He pocketed the card, a grimace on his face.
Jack blinked, "But...why did you just let him go?"
"He'll be too frightened to play more. He'll bow out and never come back if he knows what's good for him. He will also know that I saved him from Sterling and Jacques, he'll owe me. The main reason," he said as he made his way back up the stairs and into the main club, "I really hate a fight before opening. Plus Murder is something I don't want to deal with right now. Make sure you see him out."
Last thing he needed was three mobsters fighting at opening, it would only rouse suspicion above. He straightened his jacket, ruffled up his hair and headed back into the lobby of the club, ready to start the long night.
