personality
Adventurous: Baylea isn’t afraid to leap without looking. She craves to discover something new, but has been prone to getting stuck in unfavorable predicaments. Her attitude towards doing something new or going somewhere forbidden also consists of illegal things. Her motto is, “Do it once. If you like it, do it a hundred times over.” The sad truth to this is that Baylea’s mind does not so far as to indulging in simple and instinct urges, such as smoking, alcohol, and drugs. Her open-mind hasn’t fully grasped the consequences of such harm for things, yet she has never been put in a situation that has led her to try such toxins.
Soft Spoken: Baylea doesn’t speak out very often, and when she does it is but a faint whisper. Aside from her voice barely making it above the octave of a whisper, she never wants to offend or upset people. She doesn’t like to disappoint and for her to say the wrong thing or ask the wrong question, then she’d feel like an embarrassment or a waste of time. She’d much rather avoid speaking out because even if she does, she usually gets ignored anyway.
Awe Struck: Baylea finds something to be amazed at every day. She is like a newborn baby seeing the world for the first time, except she sees the world for the first time every day. She isn’t scared of the unknown. No, she embraces the new, the strange, the wild, and everything that New York City has to offer her. Because of this, she wants to travel all around the world.
Diamond in the Rough: Baylea is far to modest and humble to allow such things such as expensive clothes or makeup to rule over her life. She’d much rather wear a pair of comfy sweats, an over-sized t-shirt, and her hair in a messy-bun. Her beauty has never had a chance to shine because she has never allowed herself to take the chance to let it. She doesn’t find herself extraordinary because when she looks in the mirror all she notices is ordinary. Such thoughts have lead to a blemished self-esteem, but not so much that she hates herself. In fact, she loves that she is plain because it doesn’t attract unwanted attention.
past
Growing up in Abbyville, Kansas, never seemed exciting to anyone who was looking in, but for a young Baylea May, Abbyville was her playground. The small home that under went many renovations and improvements prior to her birth was truly her focal point. Shortly after she and her twin, Bradley, were born, their father, Jerry Wayne, was deployed over somewhere in the Middle East. Lillian, their mother, never lost a beat though because she was the backbone for the family, while her husband was off defending the country. The two had saved up money for the exact occasion, when he'd be gone and she still needed to pay the bills and support the two children. Now, they faced hardships, yet their mother never broke. She stood firm with her head held high, while she waited patiently for Jerry Wayne to return.
Six months passed, and Jerry Wayne came trotting down the driveway. He dropped his bags only to scoop his loving wife into his arms and kiss her as if it was the very first time. Their hearts grew fonder from both time and distance. Their love was the foundation to the Lawrence family household and it would only continue to hold strong and firm. While Jerry was home, he didn't act as if he deserved to relax because he believed in keeping his hands busy. He found things to do, thus came the additions to the small two bedroom house. It soon grew much large and even held a small basement, in case of tornadoes. The twins got their own rooms by the time that they cared to be separated with Baylea going through her 'Diva' stage and Bradley through his 'Girls Have Cooties.' The ten months that Jerry spent off duty was filled with him giving to his family because he felt as if he owed them for the time he spent away both past and future.
Baylea had grown up under her brother's watchful and ever vigilant eyes. They were inseparable after their thirteenth birthday, when Baylea seemed to catch the attention of his friends. Her innocence only seemed to spark the interest of many guys throughout middle-school and into high school. With much persistence from her brother, Baylea took up swimming and much to her brother's dismay it only added to the trouble. With troublesome situations came the fights...Sadly when things got physical for Bradley. He took it to the extremes. Nothing was taken lightly or easily brushed off, especially when it was about his sister. Baylea was oblivious... Scarily so, yet around her senior year she finally was hit with reality.
Bradley and Baylea attended parties, which mostly consisted of bon fires and beer. Bradley indulged himself, while Baylea sipped on a bottle Coca-Cola, not spiked. It was easier to keep an eye out for Bradley while she sat close to the fire. She socialized, but only when others approach, yet there was a guy.
Rugged. Chiseled Muscles. Thick Kansas Accent. Cute Dimples. Things that appealed to Baylea's hormone induced teenage mind as the perfect specimen of a man. She had heard rumors, but she wasn't one to be swayed by such trivial words. Plus, none of those rumors came from the lips of people she trusted, so they again were just words and nothing more. It must have been the caffeine in the Coke, but Baylea found herself tapping the boy on his shoulder. There was smiles. Giggles. Blushing. Then, he pressed himself against her body, which was alive. It was intoxicating, especially when his lips grazed along her jawline. Her body, even through his shirt, was warm and blocked the chill night air. She wanted to enjoy the moment, but he had other ideas. Things that her mind denied her to do. Her body craved his hands, yet she felt her hands shoving against him and the distinct command of a stern 'No!' escape her lips.
Then, it happened. At first, she wasn't entirely sure what 'it' was, but it was quick. She felt the boy's body lifted off her own, then the sound of breaking glass. The noise filled her ears as her jumped to her feet, which immediately sent her into a dizzy spell. As she attempted to regain her balance, her eyes caught the faint shadows of two figures rolling around on the ground with a larger crowd encircling them. Without a second thought, she felt herself jumping through the air, landing on the ground and grabbing for the two bodies. As soon as she touched fabric, she felt pain to the whole left side of her face, then blackness took her over.
When she came to, it was to her mother's tear-filled eyes and her brother's bruised and bandaged face. The distinct beeping from heart monitor seemed to ring in her overly sensitive ears as her mother kissed her face gently. It was odd to not recall how your face becomes numb, but the whole left side just lacked feeling. No pain. No sensation. Apparently it was because the swelling had gone down, but they still pumped morphine into her system until the pain was bearable. As she waited quietly, her brother informed her of the events. When he heard her voice taking a commanding tone, he acted quickly and tore the guy off her. The fight escalated since they both were far too intoxicated for words, aside from the slanderous profanity. He told her that it was the other guy's foot that hit her square in the face because the guy had lost his ability to properly aim a gut kick. She ended up taking the full kick, which ended the fight and knocked her clean unconscious.
The remainder of the year went smoothly with little change aside from the new group of girlfriends that felt sorry for the accident. She didn't change either and even forgave the guy only a week after the accident. He took it like a gentleman, even in with his own swollen face. She graduated, which meant that she'd be moving off to bigger and better things. Luckily, she got accepted into the Barrie University in New York City, while her brother took the route towards the military to follow in their father's footsteps.
present
Baylea May took quite the leap from small town to big city, but she took the change as a positive thing. Allowed the city to help her grow by dying her hair a darker blond and getting a job as a waitress. Her schooling is going great, only because she continues to stick herself nose deep into her studies. She'd decided on Graphic Design with a focus on Advertisement, yet her heart has discovered her true love for fashion. She can't afford the high fashion designers, but she dreams to be the one to create such artworks with fabric.
Her family life is.. well, fabulous. she calls her mother weekly for updates on her father and brother, while filling her mother in on all the big city excitement. She truly loves the life that she has in New York, because she finds that she fits better here. One could say that the pressures of the city are turning the lump of Kansas Coal into that of a New York Diamond. She remains true to herself though and still remains quite modest and humble.
