personality
Clarissa isn't the type to be shy first, social second. Clarissa is the type that's shy first, second, third and on and on. She has trouble making and keeping friends. She has trouble talking to others, asking questions and speaking up. Clarissa wasn't like this until she was about 10, maybe 11.
Something changed in her then and she began to cling to her parents' legs or hands, hiding behind them everywhere they went. This was what made school difficult as she had nothing to hide behind other than her hair or the clothes that were to big on her. Along with this shy personality came insecurity and also kindness. She had a lack in confidence with all of those pretty girls around, beautiful and popular. Pass this, though, she manages to be the nicest person you could meet. She may not be very vocal, but Clarissa knows that you should treat others how you want to be treated. For one who is patient (and good hearing would probably help), she can be a great member to groups. She follows rules and instructions, avoiding speaking against this as that could lead to actually raising her voice.
Clarissa is also observant. Whether it be in dates, facts, details or how a person is feeling, Clarissa will usually notice it. Names and faces, though, she has trouble with which is probably due to her not even looking at a person upon first meeting them. Clarissa seems to realize how a person feels at that moment or what's going on with them. It may be the tone of their voice or their body language, but she somehow notices without a single look into their eyes.
past
Clarissa Shelby Ramone was born at 12:42am on April 25th, 1993. She had dark hair and big blue eyes. She cried, as most babies do, but was a quiet newborn for her first years. Jennifer and James were so proud to have a baby girl.
Clarissa grew up without a sibling and often spent her time reading or playing with dolls. She always had big dreams, knowing that, one day, she would travel the world. She'd visit Egypt, London and especially Wellington because "they were in the future." Clarissa would go out everywhere with her parents: the store, library, out to eat. She was almost clingy and began to want time only with her parents. She grew timid and shy of others and had to have her mother or father with her to even introduce herself to another.
This shyness followed Clarissa to Middle School. Being that girl in a New York school definitely had it's negatives and she began to retreat even further into her shell. It soon became apparent that she wouldn't be able to pass 7th grade classes and so she was taken out of school. As much as Jennifer didn't want to do this, she allowed her daughter to take online classes. This, Clarissa could handle and she began to thrive once again.
It was the summer before high school when they told her. It was a shock. Completely, totally, unbelievably unfair. They were leaving her to fend for herself. To understand the mechanics of Frank L. Baum Academy. She'd thrown a fit, to put it lightly. This was unacceptable, completely unacceptable, and she would not stand for it. Any hope she'd had was shattered the day her parents dropped her off in front of the school. They made sure she had everything before driving away to go travel the world. They left her there.
This, of course, is an exaggeration. Her parents prepared her all summer. They told her what to expect and how to handle it. They told her what not to do and to always say "no." They made sure she had money, a cell phone, and a way to always reach them. They were heartbroken to leave their girl for the world, but they knew this had to be done. They knew she needed to experience real life at some point.
Clarissa just barely managed Freshman year. It was hell, so to speak. She never spoke a word to her roommate and made only one friend(who ended up moving after the first semester anyway). If she weren't more comfortable around adults, she surely would've failed. As she is, though, Clarissa was able to have her teachers help her one on one with everything she'd been missing while hiding behind her hair. She actually passed all of her classes with flying colors.
present
Clarissa is currently a sophomore at Baum Academy, focusing on getting by in all of her classes and keeping her job at the Make A Wish Foundation. She works hard at both of these, spending more time in her dorm than elsewhere. She rooms with Becky Carlson.
As her parents are in Rome right now, she doesn't get the chance to speak with them very often. They left her plenty of money so she could take care of herself and they try to write her at least a few times a month. Clarissa misses them but she's gotten used to them being gone. Living at Baum makes her feel like a grown-up and, yet, she has those days.

other notes
She works part-time at the Make a Wish Foundation.
She has a fear of abandonment. It's mostly just that she'll get very close to a person, end up being clingy and they'll leave. This happened with the Freshman friend but it wasn't on purpose, of course. Not to mention her parents, who only wanted for her to get out and live. It's usually her over-reacting. She'll sometimes ask for constant reassurance and will actually just feel better in general with somebody who is positive and can
