And you could move on with your whole life...
...Just like you do
...Just like you do
But you could make everything alright
And all at once the serenity was taken from him. It was like God showed him a piece of heaven and then suddenly took it away and promised him Hell. Jamie could see this was going to be hell. He could see that Joey had been going through worse than he with Ariel and him being with J. He was being selfish getting that off his chest. It didn’t help this fucked up situation. Jamie couldn’t let Ariel go through this. He’d have to sacrifice his happiness for her now. He knew what he had to do but the stabs in his heart made him not want to. As his heart and head battled it out, Joey set down a plate of food at the table. He looked at it and then took a deep breath.
His instinct was to run. He needed to. He couldn’t handle the situation anymore. A feeling of despair overcame him. Maybe he was right, love hurt. He was hurting right now and Joey looked worse than him. It made him pained also. He felt an attachment to her that went beyond their physical one Ariel. It wasn’t a reincarnate one but a deep bond of friendship. He felt it breaking and knew this wasn’t something he could handle. Within two seconds of picking up his fork, he set it down and got up. He couldn’t say anything so he pulled off the ID tag of his guitar case and gave it to her.
“Call me if you need anything...I...I gotta go,” he whispered weakly. It was the best he could do with the lump in his throat. Then he dashed to the door and held back tears. He’d done enough crying for it to be illegal. So many emotions in on day, yet nothing good came of it. No. He was wrong. He had found out about his daughter; meet her even. That was a positive. She’d been with him for only a few minutes but she captured his heart better than any girl he’s ever dated. That’s why he was doing this.
Jamie pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed it. His fingers shook as he did. He walked to the end of the street and hailed a taxi as the phone rang. Thankfully it went to voicemail. Jamie made himself sound as decent as possible and said, “Hey, J. It’s Jamie. I have something important to talk to you about. Can you come home soon? Thanks. But don’t worry, no one’s hurt...” physically he finished in his head. He hung up the phone and thought of the small sleeping face of his daughter.
And I want you to
'Cause ever since the first dance all I thought about was loving on you!
