personality
Addison is as creative as can be. She loves telling stories whether they are completely made up, based on a real life situation, or bits and pieces of both. Addison won’t tell her stories to just anyone which is sometimes difficult even for her. You’ve got to earn them. Why would she tell a stranger her fantastic tales? For all she knows, they could steal the idea and go make millions selling books. Addison doesn’t think this makes her paranoid. She’s just… protective. That’s all.
Speaking of protective, she’s very much so over her friends. The world can be a scary place and she’s realized that early on. So, when she’s got friends who are rather naïve, Addison feels the need to take care of them. She’s sure it can get overbearing at times but it’s really in their best interest. Being defensive has made her a tad jealous but it’s nothing too serious. It’s something she’s very good at hiding because, really?, what good is it expressing her jealousy? No good at all.
Addison is an absolute mother hen. Why, she has such a tendency to be maternal that it’s clear to complete strangers. As if she didn’t try taking enough care of her friends, Addison has her moments of mothering somebody she’s just met (one boy got quite a talking to about his shoes not being tied). However, there’s definite kindness to this and she’s just trying to be helpful. She’s nice to everybody she meets and strongly believes in second chances.
Now that Addison is attending Baum Academy and no longer under the watchful eye of her parents, she’s become a bit demanding. Before, she’d realize her place and never even thought of arguing with her mother and father. Nowadays, if she feels what she has to say is important, she’ll make sure it’s heard. Addison is bossy in this sense: she won’t tolerate lazy group members or co-workers. If they aren’t doing what they’re supposed to, you can bet she’ll rant their ears off.
past
Addison always found the story of her parents meeting to be absolute true love. They’d been on opposite sides of the country – her mother in California and her father in Florida – before they both met in Illinois. Her mother was fresh out of college, looking for a job and living with her sister at the time. Her father was transferring from one bank to another. It was a rainy day and he offered to share a taxi with her. She was instantly charmed by him and they exchanged numbers. They met over coffee the next day and from there on out, they lived happily ever after.
Addison Delaney Rowe was their first born and they spoiled her endlessly. She was a pretty little girl with soft brown hair and inquiring eyes. From the moment she could speak, she was asking questions and when she started walking, she explored as best she could. Everything fascinated her from the patterns on the couch to the loud noises of the vacuum cleaner. The windy city was her playground. Her parents had to keep an eye on her because she was always trying to climb things that weren’t to be climbed on and peeking into bags clutched in stranger’s hands. It was sometimes exhausting, taking care of her.
When Addison was five, her parents told her that she had a sibling on the way. They decided to go without knowing the gender so Addison was all the more surprised when they brought home a baby boy (the babysitter seemed surprisingly thrilled; Addison thought maybe the woman was going to snatch her baby brother away). For a long while, all he did was cry and Addison couldn’t get a wink of sleep; she hadn’t hated being a light sleeper until then. Still, Addison was a perfect sister, doting on her brother and helping out where she could.
It was another job transfer that had them moving to New York. At first, Addison dreaded the move. There was no place like her windy city. Her mother reassured her that New York wouldn’t be much different – still a big, sprawling metropolis and that calmed Addison’s nerves. She was thirteen when they moved and just as her mother had promised, it wasn’t very different. In fact, she liked it better because they enrolled her in Baum Academy (the place was named after one of her favorite authors! How could she not love it?).
present
Addison is in her junior year at Baum Academy (and she loves the name as much as she did back then). She’s taking her core classes along with whatever will help her to pursue a career in writing. There is no greater joy in the world than telling her stories and hoping that, someday, they’ll be printed and bound to be sold on bookshelves everywhere. It is her greatest dream. However, she sometimes worries about this because planning for a career is so… grown-up. While Addison knows all must grow up, she has her days where it seems like the most dreadful thing.
Her mother is expecting another child (they decided again to wait to see the gender). Addison’s younger brother is eleven now and in sixth grade. She loves telling him bedtime stories (which she is so grateful that he hasn’t outgrown those) and she’s even happy to help him with homework. At school, Addison’s got a few really close friends and she’s on civil terms with quite a few other people. There are some she likes to avoid because she finds them to be bad influences and, more often than not, they don’t care because they find her to be a goody-two-shoes.
family
Her mother, currently a preschool teacher and expecting her third child. Addison talks with her often and they have tea whenever best suits their schedules.
Her father, a banker whose been transferred twice now. His temper sometimes scares Addison but she loves him and couldn’t wish for a better dad.
Her younger brother, in his sixth year of school and doing quite well. They get along splendidly for the age gap and Addison hopes that they will always be this close.

...literature*
book title Peter Pan
back story Wendy Darling is this girl who kind of has to grow up but doesn’t want to grow up. She tells lots of stories and acts them out with her brothers. Cue Peter Pan who saves her from the nastiness of being an adult by taking her away to Neverland (oh and her brothers go too). There are some wild crazy adventures including a fairy and some pirates and a couple of lost boys. Eventually, Wendy realizes her and her brothers have to go home before they forget their parents (and are, in turn, forgotten). The Darlings adopt the lost boys and some other stuff happens. I don’t remember. I haven’t read the book in awhile.
