Tonight, he would finally let loose and relax. Even if EVERYTHING needed to be cleaned again. There was so much to do, and so much to organize. Isaak wanted everything to be neat and tidy. Everything had to be in it's place. His floor was a clean and polished dark wood and the walls were sterile and white.
Isaak sat on the floor by the foot of his bed. Inhaling deeply, his sleep deprived eyes crinkled into a smile. Everything smelled like Pine Sol and Bleach. The smell of bliss for Isaak. He would've sat there forever, listening to the rustle of people on the floors below him. But there was a more captivating view to be seen.
Stretching his limbs and shuffling over to the window, Isaak gazed in wonder. New York was so beautiful when it was covered in snow. It was magical and pure. Elliot would have loved to see the city lights. But he had made his choice. Elliot was in Maine. Beth wasn't here.
When he started to think about his best friend, Isaak's chest began to ache He missed her. Isaak thought about calling her most every day, but decided against it. She wouldn't have missed him. He was just a crazy farm boy.
Besides, he had to worry about the next challenge ahead. He was getting a roommate. Hopefully that person wouldn't be a slob. But he could only hope. Isaak groped over to his perfectly made bed and sat cross-legged to face the wall. For the first time in his lie, Isaak would b scared to think of who was going to walk through that door.

Beth smiled at the woman behind the counter as she was handed her dorm assignment. 'No. 13, huh? Wait.... Co-ed? So I'm sharing with a guy!? Oh, thank God I brushed my teeth this morning...' she thought, checking and messing with her newly pink hair in the mirror. Well, before she'd been pitch black, but that was only because Isaak had left. Now she had her confidence back, and her hair turned bright again. And her clothes, for that matter.
Her neon green and black striped stockings had gotten her quite a few looks, lacy black skirt above it and white, short-sleeved collared shirt tucked into the skirt, simply so the slightly large garment wouldn't fall. She didn't think anyone needed to see her underwear on her first day of college. With the black combat boots and pink hair, she was altogether a strange sight to behold, though Beth really didn't know why everyone was still staring, even in New York. She'd seen outfits much more outlandish just from standing on the curb outside. Then again, the rabbit hopping along behind her probably wasn't helping any.
Wandering down the hall, she began thinking about who the mystery man could possibly be, if he was cute, if he would like her, and every sort of question a creature with a brain could possibly conjure up. So obviously, when she finally found her new living space, she was getting very nervous about who she'd have to deal with. Beth opened the door quietly and poked her head in.
"IZ!" she yelled, dropping her things in the doorway and shoving the door open to run across the room and... well, pretty much pounce on Isaak. "I MISSED YOOOOOOUUU! WHY DIDN'T YOU CALLLL!? YOU SAID YOU WOULD, BUT I HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANYTHING FROM YOU SINCE YOU LEFT!" she yelled, unable to lower her voice because of her excitement and surprise. She wrapped her arms around his neck in a hug, simply glad to be with her best friend again.
Edwin, seeming as oblivious and calm as always, took no notice of the people and hopped into the room, nibbling on a carrot sticking out of one of Bethany's bags.

Isaak was staring at the wall, just thinking. He glanced at the window every so often to look at the icy veil covering the window. It was a vision of pure beauty. So clean and cool. The only downside was that it reminded him of Vermont. And Beth. Oh Beth......
The door swung open and caught him in mid thought. charge of pink hair and neon clothing came rushing at him, knocking Isaak completely off the bed. He was going to start ranting any second now. "Okay there's this thing called a personal bubble..."
"IZ!" she yelled, dropping her things in the doorway and shoving the door open to run across the room and... well, pretty much pounce on Isaak. "I MISSED YOOOOOOUUU! WHY DIDN'T YOU CALLLL!? YOU SAID YOU WOULD, BUT I HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANYTHING FROM YOU SINCE YOU LEFT!"
He knew that voice. Even when she was screaming at the top of her lungs, he knew that voice. He grew up with that voice. He was comforted when he was sad by that voice. It was Beth's voice.
"CALM YOURSELF BETH! And it's nice to see you. Do you know where my new roommate is? Because I don't think he's here yet..." It was nice of Beth to drop by. He did miss her. But wasn't she over reacting just a little?
And Ugh. He needed a shower now. Beth should have known about the whole OCD thing. And she was just a WHOLE BUNCH teeny bit too close.

"CALM YOURSELF BETH! And it's nice to see you."
Beth, suddenly gaining control of herself and remembering about Isaak's little Condition, sat up quickly. "Izzy, I missed you!" she said again, but in a normal voice this time. Sitting indian-style on the floor, she looked back up at Isaak in curiosity. "Awfully clean... You haven't lost your touch, my friend," she commented, standing and picking Edwin up. "Remember him, Eddy? He's the guy that wouldn't touch you until I took you to the vet twenty times," she said, kissing the rabbits head and putting him down on the other bed in the room.
Do you know where my new roommate is? Because I don't think he's here yet..."
Pulling her luggage into the room, she stared at Isaak as if wondering why he was even asking that. "Erm, Isaak? Your new roommate isn't a he. I don't have a penis, babe," she reminded him, wondering if he didn't know he was going to be sharing with a girl. "So anyways, HEY ROOMIE!" she confirmed, setting her things down and brushing her clothes off.
"Oh no... There's only one bathroom..." she noted, beginning to explore the dorm. "Oh, and feel free to sterilize everything I brought with me but the bunny, since I know you'd probably ask to anyways..." she said, looking inside of one of the two closets. Hopping onto her bed and placing Edwin in her lap, she pet him and tried to keep herself from screaming with joy. She'd found him! She'd really truly found him! And it hadn't taken nearly as long as she thought it would.
So far, her life in New York was looking wonderful.

Isaak nodded. He knew and completely despised loved the rabbit. "He's never had rabies right?" Isaak scooted away from Eddy. You could never be too careful when it came to animals.
"Erm, Isaak? Your new roommate isn't a he. I don't have a penis, babe," she reminded him, wondering if he didn't know he was going to be sharing with a girl. "So anyways, HEY ROOMIE!"
First response that came to mind when he heard this: WHAT THE FUCK!? Second reaction? Um.... Yay?
He honestly did like her, They were best friends. But he wanted a change. Isn't what new york was for? She had changed her hair again. What was it now? Cupcake pink? Isaak shook his head. He should have seen this coming. There was no getting rid of the very blunt Bethany.
"Oh no... There's only one bathroom..." she noted, beginning to explore the dorm. "Oh, and feel free to sterilize everything I brought with me but the bunny, since I know you'd probably ask to anyways..."
That was a problem. ONE BATHROOM? Yep. A big problem. "I could type up a schedule if you want. It's really no trouble. Just... Just keep it clean. And take all the space you want but don't let your, erm , pet into my stuff."
Isaak would most likely end up writing it down for her. Knowing Beth, she would forget.

"He's never had rabies right?"
"Of course not!" she said to Isaak, sighing as she began to unpack her things and hang them up in the empty closet. Growing tired of her outfit, as she did easily and often, she promptly unbuttoned and pulled it off, hanging it up before searching through her bag for a better one. Hey, she and Isaak had grown up together, were going to be living together, and she had a bra on anyways. She finally decided on a simple blue turtle neck and switched her skirt for dark skinny jeans, and stockings and boots for simple silver flats. Snapping a blue bow clip into her hair, she nodded to herself, checking the bathroom mirror before heading back out.
"I could type up a schedule if you want. It's really no trouble. Just... Just keep it clean. And take all the space you want but don't let your, erm , pet into my stuff."
"Edwin doesn't go near stuff that isn't mine. Sometimes I think he's scared of other people, but maybe it's just you," she said, looking under her bed where Edwin was currently sleeping. "And a schedule would be a good idea, Isaak..." Beth mumbled, hopping onto her bed again and looking around. Only halfway done unpacking, but she didn't feel like finishing at the moment. Besides, Isaak seemed a little... hesitant about her being here, compared to her bubbly, oblivious bliss. Of course, it was like that a lot... She absentmindedly wondered what he thought of her, and voiced a version of these thoughts to her new roommate.
"Hey... Isaak? Did... Erm, would you maybe prefer rooming with a guy? I mean, I guess I could request a room change..." Beth tried to make it as nonchalant as possible, but she honestly would take it personally. "I don't blame you if you don't want me here..." she thought aloud, frowning to herself.

"Of course not!"
Isaak sighed. That was a relief. At least there would be no unknown diseases floating around. That was always a plus. He would have to remind Beth to clean Eddy's cage frequently as well. There would be not so much as a whiff of a hint that there was a rabbit in this room. He'd have to get more Bleach later as well....
When Isaak looked over to tell Beth something, he found that she was changing her clothes. This was why a schedule would be useful. Isaak couldn't help but sneak a peak at his best friend. He hid his face in his arm a pretended to be coughing to hide his shocked face. He had forgotten that the little Bethany Harris he knew had boobs now.
"Edwin doesn't go near stuff that isn't mine. Sometimes I think he's scared of other people, but maybe it's just you," she said, looking under her bed where Edwin was currently sleeping. "And a schedule would be a good idea, Isaak..."
"Lots of people are scared of me. I think It's the whole OCD/Day dream combo. He wouldn't be the first one though." Isaak had to look away to keep from blushing. A schedule kept sounding better and better.
"Hey... Isaak? Did... Erm, would you maybe prefer rooming with a guy? I mean, I guess I could request a room change..." Beth tried to make it as nonchalant as possible, but she honestly would take it personally. "I don't blame you if you don't want me here..." she thought aloud, frowning to herself.
Isaak stood up and held his arms out in an apologetic gesture. "No no no! It's okay Beth! This would only be awkward If I hadn't known you for like, a bajillion years." Isaak laughed for the first time in a while. And this time, it wasn't an evil cackle. It wasn't empty and cold.

"Lots of people are scared of me. I think It's the whole OCD/Day dream combo. He wouldn't be the first one though."
"Yeah, and you wouldn't be the first to not want me around," she commented, smirking at Isaak. "I'm not scared of you, though, Izzy. To me you're just a bit of a clean freak," Beth assured the male. She'd honestly noticed his coughing cover-up, and while it made her slightly uncomfortable, it mostly just gave her humorous ideas.
Well, they were at least funny to her. For Isaak, they would be awkward and slightly unsettling. But that was the whole point of all of the pranks she pulled on Isaak. Like that time she'd snuck into the guy's locker room at their high school just to put one of her mother's DDD bras in Isaak's locker. Oh, that one got him in soooo much trouble, and Beth smiled as she remembered the look on his face as he was walked to the principal's office to explain why such an undergarment was in his locker.
"No no no! It's okay Beth! This would only be awkward If I hadn't known you for like, a bajillion years."
Beth smiled. She hadn't heard Isaak's laugh in quite a long time. And his sentence left the perfect opportunity for one of her ideas. "In that case, can I ask your opinion on something?" she asked, taking the turtleneck off again, running one hand through her hair to fix it, then put her hands on her hips. "You see, I just got this bra a few days ago, and I'm not really sure if it looks good..." she explained, pursing her lips and keeping her giggles inside. There was a reason she was an aspiring broadway actress. Besides, she actually thought the bra looked good. It was black with white stripes in a plaid pattern, and she thought it was cute. She was a C-cup, and the only reason for the difference in her and her mother's sizes was that Beth was skinny and her mother... well, definitely was not.

"Yeah, and you wouldn't be the first to not want me around," she commented, smirking at Isaak. "I'm not scared of you, though, Izzy. To me you're just a bit of a clean freak,"
Isaak's nickname made him cringe a little. Wasn't Izzy a girl's name? Damn. Beth really knew how to strike a nerve or maybe even take a sledgehammer to someone's buttons. A very large, very, very, heavy sledgehammer.
He wanted to go up and hug her, to comfort his friend. But he decided against it. Knowing Beth, she would have something up her sleeve. Her pranks always got him in trouble during their younger days. Some were obscene, others were just plain obnoxious. Some were funny, Isaak had to give her that.
"In that case, can I ask your opinion on something?"
He nodded. She could have asked him anything. Beth should have known that. Isaak waited patiently for her next statement. And then he just stood there as she took her sweater off.
"You see, I just got this bra a few days ago, and I'm not really sure if it looks good..."
Was this a joke? Was this some sick, twisted joke? Probably. " Shouldn't you be flashing those to you boyfriend and not a neat freak? Now that you took it off I should go wash it."
He stole her sweater out of her hands and threw it into the laundry basket he bought for his roommate. "Now put on a new shirt before a perv walks in here."
He was SUCH, a hypocrite.

" Shouldn't you be flashing those to you boyfriend and not a neat freak? Now that you took it off I should go wash it." "Now put on a new shirt before a perv walks in here."
Damnit. She'd wanted a more spazztastic response than that. "I honestly think a perv's already in here..." she mumbled, looking down and frowning. "And I don't have a boyfriend, stupid. The only boyfriends I've ever had were Chris and that fucking redhead," she reminded Isaak, rolling her eyes and not bothering to remember the name of the guy who'd cheated on her.
"And you didn't say that if looked good..." she pointed out, with a frown. She gave him a hug without thinking to put a shirt on. "Why didn't you answer, Iz?" she asked him, pouting as she tried to figure him out. Maybe he just thought her too much of a friend to take advantage of her current shirtless state. That would be preferable to...
"Ehh!? Isaak thinks I'm fat and ugly and gross, doesn't he!? Well, then I'm sorry I wanted your opinion on something!" Beth finally decided, crawling onto her bed and bringing her knees up to her still shirtless chest before burying her face in them. She was only trying to make him feel uncomfortable as always... But this time she was actually curious to see what he'd do about a depressed shirtless girl, and wondered to herself if he truly did feel that way.

"I honestly think a perv's already in here..."
Isaak let out a small gasp, even though he wasn't surprised. She had been making pervert jokes since she learned what "That's what she said!" meant.
"And I don't have a boyfriend, stupid. The only boyfriends I've ever had were Chris and that fucking redhead,"
He shuddered. Isaak remembered having to take down the redhead. That was the the biggest paintball showdown Newport had ever seen.
"Why didn't you answer, Iz?"
That wasn't what he was expecting. "I don't think it's my place to, erm, Advise you on that kind of thing." This was very true. This was woman's work. Isaak did his best to look away from Bethany.
"Ehh!? Isaak thinks I'm fat and ugly and gross, doesn't he!? Well, then I'm sorry I wanted your opinion on something!"
Damn. Beth probably hated him now. God only knows what she would do to him if she was angry. His eye slightly twitched at the last part. Isaak sat on the bed beside her and wrapped her quilt around her.
"I'd be able to help you better if you would just put a damn shirt on! I would get kicked out if one of the hall guards came in and found you like this!"
He skipped over to her closet and pulled out a dark blue long sleeved shirt. Isaak handed it to her and began to mock her in a smug voice. "Besides. You'll catch a cold."

"I'd be able to help you better if you would just put a damn shirt on! I would get kicked out if one of the hall guards came in and found you like this! Besides. You'll catch a cold."
Oh, so now he was trying to be funny. Well, two can play at that game. "Well, I know I've got a bra on and everything, but I think I'd be in a bad position to get cold..." she said, frowning and catching the shirt. Slipping it on, she remembered that she wore this out on dates sometimes. "Oh yeah, and I guess I've had more than those two... But all the other ones were girls, and we kept it pretty quiet," she mentioned, forgetting if Isaak even knew about this. Oh well. If he didn't know, more fun for her.
"And you're right, it's probably not your place. Sorry, Iz," she continued, stretching and getting up from the bed to toss the blanket back onto her bed and work on unpacking. "Anyways, we never really went public like I did with the guys... Haha, you got sooo jealous that I started hanging around Chris more than you, though," Beth remembered, smirking at how cute his jealousy had been. He'd even tried to sabotage them once, and she'd broken up with Chris soon after discovering that he really was being way too possessive.
"Let's see... I went out with Jessica a few times, but then she tried to slip acid into my punch at a party, so I ended it... Then I was with Lisa for a long time before she died... Poor dear... Before that I was with Grace for a few months, and Helen, and I think I actually might've gone out with Callie a few times, but that's all I can remember. There were probably more," Beth listed aloud, still hanging up her things as she spoke. Shrugging to herself, she pulled Edwin out from under the bed and put him on his pillow, which was the only thing left in the suitcase after reciting her list.

"Well, I know I've got a bra on and everything, but I think I'd be in a bad position to get cold..." she said, frowning and catching the shirt. Slipping it on, she remembered that she wore this out on dates sometimes. "Oh yeah, and I guess I've had more than those two... But all the other ones were girls, and we kept it pretty quiet,"
What? This was the first time he had EVER heard this. And it was scary. Beth had dated girls? Since when? He was on the edge of a mental breakdown just from hearing that little bit. And then she CONTINUED with her little tale? DEAR LORD! What had she been up to the few years he was gone?
"And you're right, it's probably not your place. Sorry, Iz," she continued, stretching and getting up from the bed to toss the blanket back onto her bed and work on unpacking. "Anyways, we never really went public like I did with the guys... Haha, you got sooo jealous that I started hanging around Chris more than you, though,"
He was wincing, he was fidgeting, and on the inside, he was having a fit about this. He had missed out on so much from being in New York. Isaak hated not knowing everything almost as much as a muddy floor. This irked him.
There were probably more,"
His eyes must have been twitching because Beth looked like she might explode into laughter. Isaak didn't want to have a break down in front of Beth. Not now, not ever.
"Uhh. Excuse me for a few moments. I have...um.. I have the runs." Isaak's face flushed before he locked himself in the bathroom.
Why was he freaking out because his friend dated as few chicks? That was her choice, not his. He mentally kicked himself for his lame excuse. Wonderful, that's exactly what Beth needed. Another reason to laugh.
Isaak decided to wait until Beth threatened to break the door in. He needed time to think about why he was so upset anyway. If she wanted to talk to him, god dammit, she would have to wait a while.

"Uhh. Excuse me for a few moments. I have...um.. I have the runs."
Beth twisted around to see the bathroom door closing. "Isaak....?" she said to the now empty room, blinking slowly. Isaak hadn't looked sick at all. He was no paler than usual, though he had looked a little flushed before the door slammed on his face. But there were other reasons why he'd be blushing... "Damnit, Iz! It's a little late to be homophobic!" she yelled to the bathroom. There was no way he could be sick. He'd have a weird doctory face mask, or he would've locked himself in the bathroom BEFORE she came.
"Izzzzzzz! I know you don't have the runs!" she yelled, beginning to kick at the door. "I was already dating some girls while you were still in Newport! And THIS! IS! EXACTLY! WHY! I! DIDN'T! TELL YOU!" Bethany kept yelling, kicking the door to emphasize each word. She kicked it one more time, and was surprised when it opened. "Wow... I'm glad I was right about you faking..." she mumbled, checking to make sure the lock still worked. It did, thank god. She had a habit of being in the bathroom longer than she needed to, from picking up magazines or newspapers and reading, and she didn't particularly want Isaak walking in on her with her pants AND underwear down.
"Iz, I don't see why it's that big of a deal..." Beth said with a frown. "Why are you making it so much more than it really is?" she asked him with a sigh. "Honestly, I didn't date any of those girls after you left. They were all during high school, and besides, I was too depressed with you gone to think about that kind of thing..." she admitted, looking at her feet guiltily, as if she'd been caught in a lie.

"Damnit, Iz! It's a little late to be homophobic!"
She had a point. But would Isaak let her know that? Hell no. "I'm not homophobic! I dated a guy! Once..." He mumbled through the door. Beth had to wait. He needed to think about why he was so upset.
"Wow... I'm glad I was right about you faking..."
"WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?" Isaak stood up and began shouting. Why didn't she trust him? It was a bigger deal that she didn't tell him, than the fact that she had dated her own gender. After all, Isaak wasn't one to talk.
"Iz, I don't see why it's that big of a deal..." Beth said with a frown. "Why are you making it so much more than it really is?" she asked him with a sigh. "Honestly, I didn't date any of those girls after you left. They were all during high school, and besides, I was too depressed with you gone to think about that kind of thing..."
"I guess.. I guess it's not Beth." Isaak felt really bad. He had made Beth depressed? I he ever wanted to stab himself in to foot, it was now. He needed to get out of here. He needed to calm down.
Isaak ran for the door, not bothering to grab a jacket. His stark white hoodie would have to do. "I'm going out." That was the last thing he said before slamming the door behind him.
