Garrett was NOT in a good mood today. This was obvious to the entire staff. It absolutely OOZED through the building. If one of those idiots told him that they " just couldn't make the sales this week" or that " they were in a recession and flowers tend to come second on the list to food" ONE more time he was going to start throwing things.
...ACTUALLY, that seemed like a pretty good idea right about now. it would certainly drive home the point to the idiots he had employed here. Hmm, he would file that away for later. With a new intern coming he might as well keep the place looking nice.
God, where the fuck was Jason? He needed someone around here who was actually COMPETENT in sales and understood what it meant to sell freaking FLOWERS to people. Every other pathetic worker here was just a nuisance, one more stepping stone to getting to his final goal.
Garrett stormed into his personal office, leaving the door hanging wiiide open so he could keep a hawk's eye glued on the sla-err, employees. he didn't trust them as far as he could throw them. He knew the minute he stopped terrorizing them they would slip into indifference and all production would cease.
Sighing angrily, he checked his watch. That new intern had ten minutes to show up ready for work or her ass was fired before she even began. Booting up his work computer, Garrett was just about to check the sales market and make sure Last Petal LLC was still riding the waves of success when there came a small knock on the door.
" Erm, Mr. Beare? I, umm. Well, My mother just died so I need to catch a plane out to Arizona this friday so I can be at the funeral. I....I was wondering if I could leave, ummm, an hour early so I can get to the airport."
It was that idiot, whatshername. It didn't matter. All garrett knew was that this STUPID girl thought that if she came up with some half-ass excuse she would be able to cut out from work. His hand tightened on the nearest thing at hand, the nearly perfect, first edition vase sitting gloriously on his desk, a single absolutely glowing rose in it. It was the first vase the company had ever made, very valuable, but Garrett didn't care. That whole " Throw stuff" idea he had filed away earlier was suddenly seeming VERY important.
Rather than answer in words he picked up the vase by the neck and chucked it at the woman, aiming for her head. Of course, blind rage didn't do much for aim. As it went sailing out the open office door he winced, waiting for the inevitable shattering noise.

Jason whistled as he walked through the office, defiantly late. He winked at a few of the female workers as he passed, and smiled as he made them blush innocently. He made his way towards his new employer's office. Garrett Beare, the name suited him in Jason's opinion even if he wasn't actually intimidated by him.
As he neared Garrett's personal office, he saw a female worker go in. Deciding this would be a good way to gauge his mood, he waited outside, a safe distance away from the door. He heard the girl stammering something, then there was a pause. The people around him stopped working, waiting to hear, or perhaps even see Garrett's reaction as well. Suddenly, a glass vase flew through the doorway, headed towards one of the workers. Jason caught it skilfully, smiled kindly at the relieved almost-victim, and headed into Mr. Beare's office. "You ought to watch where you throw these, Garrett..." he said lazily, offering the vase to him.

It was Summer's first day of work. Official work since she only worked part time at the library. She should've worked full time there, though, seeing as she was there enough as is. It'd been a long day, so far, actually. She wasn't really looking forward to a new job or a new boss. Besides, what if this new boss was terrible? She groaned and hoped that whoever is was, wasn't.
She pulled her jacket around her more tightly. It was cold. Unfortunately, she'd been in a bit of a hurry and had grabbed the thinner of her jackets. So, here she was, freezing. A shiver went through her as she approached the shop. It was much to cold. Hopefully, the store would be warm. Pulling the door open, she stepped in and looked around. There were a few workers, milling around, seemingly having just stopped what they were doing.
Summer took a few more steps in and seemed to have walk in just as somebody managed to be very pissed off. A vase came flying out of a doorway and towards a woman. Summer felt her eyes widen just a bit. What in the world was going on? A man caught the vase, suddenly, and saved the female from an injury that could've been very bad. She sighed, relieved, though still a bit frightened. He was speaking and she took another moment to look around. Hopefully, this wasn't something that happened everyday.

November typed an e-mail to the head of a company doing an anniversary ball who wanted a very large order of flowers. "Garrett should be pleased if I make this sale..." she mumbled to herself, smiling as she knocked off fifteen percent. If they actually purchased it, even after the reduction, she'd not only make her sales goal, she'd make the biggest sale the company had had in a month! And on her first sale of the week! 'Let's just pray this goes well...' she thought, smiling to herself as she hit send.
Re-opening her computer block breaker game, she rested her head in one hand and waited for a response as she played. But there was something going on. The usual sounds of clicks, ringing phones and typing keys had been silenced, except for her own. Curious, she looked up to see that a woman had gone into Garrett's office. "Bad idea..." she muttered, turning back to her game. Her desk was right next to Garrett's office, too, so she clicked and waited for the shouting fit. And Jason wasn't here yet, either. It seemed that the man was the only one who could pacify Garrett.
As these thoughts ran through her game, she finished a level of Block Breaker, only to have a pop-up of the Winnie The Pooh character, Piglet come onto her screen. "Someone has pasted Piglet on my window..." she mumbled with a frown, and closed the advertisement. Just as she did, there was a chorus of gasps around her, and she looked up only to see a vase flying at her, and she winced and closed her eyes tight, waiting for the impact. But it never came.
When she opened her eyes, there was a hand in front of her instead of glass shards. "Jason... You're here..." she commented, then turned back to her computer with a simple nod of thanks. Looking around at the astonished faces, she noticed one new to the office. In fact, it was a girl from her school. Autumn, or something. Smirking at the scene she'd witnessed within her first ten seconds at the office, November turned back to her screen where an e-mail had just opened.
Smiling, she called out to Garrett. "Garrett! Next time you feel like threatening my life, remember that I just booked our biggest sale this month," she said, a satisfied smirk in place. That boss of hers better learn to control his temper, or he'd be wasting a valuable employee.

God, he really needed to work on his aim. If he couldn't even hit a worker at close range then it was time to pick up a ball and head over to the batting cages, because that was just plain pathetic.
He waited for the crash as the priceless vase shattered against either some wall or one of his worker's skulls. however, it never came, which was both a massive relief and a mild disappointment. He was sure that if that glass had shattered anywhere near a body he would have the staff working like putty in his hands for months. Like that one girl who'd just come in for the early cut out who had already vamoosed from the office.
Oh well, it was just as fine that it hadn't broken. At least for now he wouldn't get chewed out by his dad for being careless with such important objects. He was rather confused as to why there was no shattering though, and was determined to find out why.
He didn't have to go far. Just as he was getting out of his seat his office was entered by Jason, his right hand man. Of course it would be him who caught the one errant flying object that shot out of the office.
"You ought to watch where you throw these, Garrett..."
" I ought to watch a lot of things. Now is that new intern here ye-"
"Garret! Next time you feel like threatening my life, remember that I just booked our biggest sale this month,"
Garrett perked up at the words 'Biggest' and 'Sale'. Stepping out of the office he smiled for what may have been the first time that day at November. Now there was a girl that he could stand keeping around. There was a reason she'd been there since her sophomore year.
" Pull off another of those and you might get moved out of the danger zone, Starr."
Looking around the office to make sure the others were sufficiently scrambling to make it look like they were working his eyes alighted on the singular unfamiliar face. She must be it.
And she was certainly NOT hard to look at. If she ended up being a good worker he wouldn't mind seeing her face around every day.
"Scared yet?" He said simply, smiling at her knowingly.

"I ought to watch a lot of things..." Jason chuckled at Garrett's response. The two young men were the same age, and yet Jason sometimes compared Garrett to a grumpy, middle-aged man. Not that he'd ever tell him of course. Perhaps a worker or two though... The light in his eyes began to dance, and he pulled out of his thoughts.
He watched Garrett talking to a girl who'd just pulled a big sale, he seemed to be in one of his rare, happy moods. This might be a good day to further their friendship. "Scared yet?" he heard Garrett ask someone he could only assume was the new intern, Summer Something-or-other-beginning-with-s. He gave her a wicked grin. "If you aren't, don't worry, you soon will be. Garrett here likes to act like the big bad wolf, scaring all his little workers into line. It's something you might want to watch out for, even though we all know he's really just a big softie!" At this, Jason's smile widened. Working there was just too much fun. His employer was easy to wind up, and as long as he remained valuable, and kept up his catching skills, he'd be getting to push Garrett's buttons for a long time.
While he waited for the new girl to regain the powers of speech, Jason looked over at the girl the vase had almost hit. She wasn't a bad looker, and she was obviously a talented saleswoman. Perhaps she had the cunning he so desperately desired... then again, she didn't seem like someone who would be too happy with him once he brought the company to its knees. Sighing, Jason dismissed his briefly romantic, or perhaps just lustful thoughts and refocused on the events currently taking place.

Summer had to force herself to calm down after that little incident. It was definitely... intense. Upon closer inspection, though, she recognized the girl who’d nearly been hit by the vase. November Starr, a classmate who she’d seen in the halls a few times. She heard her say something about making the biggest sale this month. Impressive. She gave her a tentative smile, whether or not she’d see it, before directing her attention to the man who’d just walked out of the office. The office where said vase came flying out of. Well, he had quite the temper. And he looked like the boss. She bit her lower lip. No need to be nervous, though. If Summer could handle Zackary Charming, she coud handle her hot-headed boss.
Summer grinned. “Scared?” she repeated before shaking her head. She wasn’t actually frightenened. Well, she had been a moment ago but that was then and this is now. “Startled, yeah,” she added with a slight shrug of her shoulders. It’d certainly been a surprise, walking in to that.
"If you aren't, don't worry, you soon will be.” Summer turned to look at the person who’d spoke. He actually reminded her a bit of a wolf. She grinned, again, and shook her head. “Good to know,” she said, a bit teasingly. Summer looked back to Garrett. “I’m Summer Sinclair,” she said, incase he didn’t know. Really, he should though. But, hey, it didn’t hurt to attempt at making a good first impression. (He hadn’t really made one, though, but oh well.)

"Pull off another of those and you might get moved out of the danger zone, Starr."
November rolled her eyes. "By danger zone do you mean the desk in proper throwing range of your office?" she suggested sarcastically before turning back to her work. Work. Such a dull thing. And besides, she had already finished e-mailing possible clients, and so far only one had been replied to. She figured that either the other people were busy, or they were exploring their options. Because of the wait, Nov figured it wouldn't hurt to pay a little attention of the recent social workings of the office.
"Scared yet?" "If you aren't, don't worry, you soon will be. Garrett here likes to act like the big bad wolf, scaring all his little workers into line. It's something you might want to watch out for, even though we all know he's really just a big softie!"
Nov chuckled a bit at that, covering her mouth in an attempt to keep in the giggles, and looking down at her keyboard as she tightened her lips to keep it inside. Of course Jason was the only one who could get away with a crack at Garret like that. The hair on the back of her neck began to stand up, and her shoulders tensed before she turned around and saw Jason's face turning from hers to the boss and intern. Tilting her head questioningly, she decided to stand and join them, stretching for a moment before doing so.
“I’m Summer Sinclair,”
Oh... Well, at least she'd known it was some kind of season... "Garrett, I'm only waiting for e-mail responses now, and Summer here goes to my school," she said to her hot-headed boss. "Perhaps I should show her around?" she asked, tilting her head again. She didn't have anything else to do, and getting to know a classmate was something November hadn't attempted to do in a while. Through the workplace was a perfectly good opportunity to see if she'd lost any or all social skills yet.

Garrett shot a glare at jason. Sure, he liked the guy. SURE he thought he was management material. SURE he saved the vase from shattering ( saving his biggest-sale-of-the-month girl in the process) But if he seriously thought that he could get away with a comment like that again he had another thing comin'.
“I’m Summer Sinclair.”
Summer sinclair...hmm. Cute name. He was about to go through the normal, boring routine of introducing her to the office and getting her a little desk and making the usual threats on her life if she ever attempted to steal anything or used the office phone lines for anything other than business when November offered herself up for the job.
"Garrett, I'm only waiting for e-mail responses now, and Summer here goes to my school. Perhaps I should show her around?"
" Two pluses in one day, November. You're on your way up here if you keep at it like this. By all means, have at it."
he smiled at the two of them and withdrew to his office, ready to come back later and offer the friendly threats to make sure they were working hard and not just socializing or whatever the hell it was that two interns found to do.

Jason listened to the conversations happening in front of him without much interest. If there was only the matter of the new girl to attend to, he'd really like to go home... He caught Garrett glaring at him, and grinned. He loved the fact he could so easily get away with these things. Maybe the guy was a big softie after all, under that violent exterior.
Ah, he thought to himself, Hold on. Maybe he wants me to show this new girl around? Not that Jason would have objected, the more friendly relationships he made here, the less suspicion would fall on him when he started making 'mistakes' later. But still, he'd had a hard day's plotting, and would rather be beginning to hit New York City's bars than its florists at this time of day.
Aha! The girl who had almost been hit by the vase volunteered to show the knew girl around, and Garrett had agreed. Phew, hopefully that left him home free. He watched Garrett for a little bit, following him towards his office. When he didn't seem to be about to say anything, Jason asked tentatively, "Anything else you need me for today?" Jason actually had to stop himself from crossing his fingers. Why was he being so childish today? He'd never get anywhere if he was scared of work. Sighing, he waited for Garrett's reply.

Summer turned to look at November as she spoke and smiled. 'That would be awesome,' she thought, feeling that she'd be most comfortable with somebody she kind of knew. Where had she seen her before? Did they have a class? Probably. English, maybe? Not knowing would bug her but that was the least of her worries right now. She glanced back at thGarrett, waiting for an answer. The praise he gave to November made her feel both impressed and pressured. What if she wasn't as talented? Or whatever.
He left, then, after allowing November to show her around. "Thanks," she said to her classmate, still smiling. Perhaps it wouldn't be that bad working here. Except for the vase incident. Hopefully, she'd just walked in during the worst case scenario. Hopefully.
Summer looked around, noticing that her new employees had gone back to work. Well, if they could handle her boss' outbursts everyday, so could she. Summer looked back to November. What to say now? "So, how's working here? Is it normally that..." she paused, gesturing towards the direction Garrett walked in, "bad?"

" Two pluses in one day, November. You're on your way up here if you keep at it like this. By all means, have at it."
November rolled her eyes at the comment. Sure, he said that now, but the next time he was in one of his moods she could easily be fired for something like coughing while he was screaming his head off. She'd seen him do it before, and she tried to keep all coughing to a minimum, but she knew that if she didn't get fired she'd quit sooner or later. Then again, if Garrett didn't ever find a way to fire her from this job, she was a codfish.
"Thanks," "So, how's working here? Is it normally that... bad?"
Wait, what? Ohhh, riiiight! She was supposed to be showing season-girl around! Socializing, socializing... Well, she might as well start be answering her question. "You mean is my boss usually a threat to my life? Well, yeah. He usually just screams a lot, though. You just happened to start on a day when he was VERY VERY pissed off," November answered honestly, glancing behind her to see if Garrett heard that. Not that he'd care. The guy would probably be proud of how much he could scare his workers. Fear was a powerful weapon, after all.
"All right, Summer," November continued after a moment of silence, clapping her hands together. "I guess I'd better show you around. Over there, where the vase flew out of, is the bosses office. Us lowly salespeople only get a desk, and mine happens to be in the perfect position to be hit by flying projectiles. I don't suppose you'd want to take the desk as your own and let me have your new one, so I'm not even going to ask," November said, raising her eyebrows as if it were an actual offer, but quickly moved on. "Everyone can introduce themselves later, on break time, when we'll be in the lounge. We mostly take breaks in turns, so it may take a while for you to meet everyone that way, but Mr. Beare is strict about this. There are snack and soda machines in the lounge, a microwave, a fridge, and tables for lunch breaks, which we don't get, seeing as we usually come in after school. Well, I do, anyways. I don't know your schedule yet, he may have you working weekends too," November explained, shrugging. "The office next to Mr. Beare's is the conference room, where meetings are held, and the front desk is on the wall opposite. Bathrooms are inside of the lounge, girl's is on the left. Any questions, newbie?" November finished, wondering if she'd overwhelmed the girl yet. Well, she might as well get used to it. If she could handle it in this workplace, she could handle it anywhere. That's why November got the job. If she told anyone in New York that she worked for Garrett Beare for two years, it was an almost instant hire.
//I kind of based it off of The Office... Hope that's okay. XD //
