The pacing had officially driven Victoria up the wall. Occasionally this happened and she wasn't entirely sure why. Victor would pace around enough that Victoria had a slight concern that he'd wear grooves into the floor. After the umpteenth time of watching her brother pass through the living room, Victoria called it quits. She calmly went to her room, and picked up her phone and flipped through the painfully small contacts list until she came to a familiar name. Lyndee. Perfect. After a short, quick, and nearly desperate sounding phonecall, she asked Lyndee to meet her at that lovely new place in Rockefeller. This new spa with excellent service, where you could sip wine and relax in massaging chairs while your feet were perfectly polished.
A bit extravagant, but being late afternoon it was one of the only places to go. Had Lyndee turned her down, Victoria may have just hidden in her room to keep from watching her brother round the house over and over again. So, to the spa it was. Victoria changed, putting on a simple black dress with a thick brown belt, and a pair of peep-toe slingbacks. She topped it off with a black blazer, and orange drop earrings. As much as she was sick of the color, it eased her a bit. Like she carried a bit of Victor with her, and therefore was getting him a bit of sunshine. Don't...ask. Her logic was flawed, but logic be damned--it kept the woman sane.
"I'm gonna go out for a little bit with Lyndee. Call my cell if you need anything; I'll be home for dinner." Her brown eyes watched her brother as he just nodded a response, and Victoria left the apartment before she could see him take another step. Into the car she went, and as soon as she was driving down the road--peace broke out. Her shoulders relaxed, and she sighed as her head flopped backwards against the headrest. She loved her brother unconditionally, but sometimes...sometimes she felt like his problems were reaching out to her; making her tired and anxious. She was always on edge, watching, waiting and worrying.
Those few years where she didn't have Victor in her home felt like a dream from long-ago, and her life had begun to rotate around him. So much so, that she had lost herself in the mess and was only recently trying to get herself back. She parked her car just outside, and entered the spa while she looked around curiously. Spotting a familiar face already in a chair, she grinned and murmured to the receptionist before a technician brought her to the chair next to Lyndee. "Started without me?" She grinned at her friend while she slid off the shoes, and slid into the cushioned seat. Ugh. If only she could get one of these chairs in her house.
"Sorry for the short notice. I had to get out of there." Victoria ran a finger through her curls, and flashed another grin at her friend while she set the purse down next to her. Meeting Lyndee had been a wonderful blessing. The owner of that lovely tea shop, and after several consecutive visits--the two women had became friends. Much to Victoria's pleasure. At times though, Victoria was a bit awkward. Her social skills were a bit rusty, and she almost always felt rushed--like she was late. It was an uncomfortable feeling, but one she was working on toning down a bit. "How's everything been going with you and the shop? I feel like we haven't hung out in forever." Her head dipped down, entering her feet into the water that was just at the right heat.
Sweet merciful Jesus that was good.

Sometimes, Lyndee wished she didn’t own a tea shop. Even more times, Lyndee wished her father would step in more often and take care of things for a week or two, so she could take off and have a proper vacation. As it was, she only had moments like these where she had just enough time for a trip to the spa with a good friend. It really is saying something when you can trust your staff to watch your café for a couple of hours. Lyndee really had to be picking a new assistant manager soon; her current one was finished soon, off to bigger and better things. Lyndee would miss the woman, but she was happy for her. It’s always nice to find your calling in life – and to be able to follow it.
Not quite sure when Victoria would arrive, and knowing she did in fact only have a couple of hours, Lyndee decided to get started at the spa early. Besides, the sooner she had a glass of wine, the better. They’d had a rush this morning. Some sort of company convention happening a couple of blocks away, and it seemed that word got around of Lyndee’s shop. She had just about all the same pastries and coffees as Starbucks – but at a much better price. She certainly wasn’t complaining, though. All business is good business. It had been stressful for she hadn’t expected so many customers and they hadn’t had enough product (which is really saying something). They’d gotten through it, though, thank goodness.
Setting her glass down, Lyndee released a content sigh and wiggled her toes in the hot water. It was just as she liked; the more scalding the better. The chair was set to work on her entire back and everything was really just perfect. Things would be marvelous once Victoria arrived. You can’t truly enjoy wine and a pedi without a friend by your side. Oh, and there she was! Opening one eye to peer at the blonde taking a seat next to her, Lyndee smiled back at her. “I couldn’t wait. It was all so tempting.
” Sitting up a bit in her chair, Lyndee turned just a bit to face Victoria, putting her elbow up onto the arm rest and propping her chin against her hand.
Lyndee smiled and shook her head. “It’s perfectly alright. I really needed this.” Lyndee reached back to pick up her glass and once Victoria had one of her own, Lyndee raised hers. “ To some well needed pampering.” Once they’d toasted and had a drink, Lyndee rolled her shoulders and sighed. “ Things are lovely. We had a big group this morning, so I’ve met my goal for the day, without a doubt.” Success felt nice on her shoulders (or was that the massage chair?). She nodded her agreement, wondering why they didn’t spend more time together. Victoria was one of the few people Lyndee actively sought out to visit when she wasn’t working. “ It has been too long. We’ll have to make plans for another day before we finish here. And how are things for you, dear?” outfit![/blockquote][/blockquote]

Well needed pampering—Victoria could drink to that. Hell, she could down a whole bottle of tequila to that. Her waitress job sucked, she was tired all the time. Though, had she been working at the hospital she would have had to pull more hours. It was a Catch-22, really. Shorter work hours now, but more time with Victor. More time at the hospital, less time with Victor. Taking her glass of chilled wine, she clinked it gently with Lyndee’s and took a large drink of it. “Congrats! Big groups are a blessing and a curse.” She sighed, leaning back in her chair. Picking up the remote for the massage controls, she set the rollers to knead the knots out of her shoulders.
“Things are…stressful, at the least. Worrying about Victor not eating enough, work. It feels like I don’t get a minute to breathe sometimes.” She murmured, looking down into her glass. “I mean, he kinda pushes me out of the house sometimes—but I feel bad if I’m gone for too long. And I can never get him to go anywhere, really.” She murmured, taking another drink of the white wine. Another day sounded good. Maybe she could distract Victor with a new book and make her escape? Granted she didn’t exactly have to distract him, she’d feel less guilty if she just…slipped it to him and ran out of the house.
Knowing his obsessive quality, the book would keep him busy for several hours. A smile settled over her lips as she wiggled her toes in the hot water. The younger sister, forever the caretaker. Didn’t she deserve a break? Didn’t she deserve some fun? Didn’t she deserve to get laid? Victoria snorted into her drink before settling it down on the small little table next to the chairs. “We should go to a club or something. I’m getting too old, too fast. I really don’t want to be a spinster for the rest of my life.” One brow shot up as her lips scrunched. “Mama needs some sugar!” She cooed, raising her arms up towards the ceiling. When Victoria relaxed, she could be fun. Loud, silly. Before Victor had come into her custody, she had been the popular girl with lots of friends. Lots of things to do. Now, it felt like she was a statistic. Her golden years being put behind her, left to rest with the days of high school and college.
“What about you? Is there a Mr. Lyndee in your future, or do I have to play matchmaker?”
