personality For one thing, she's rebellious. While she's a lot like a dog - constantly following orders and demanding attention - she can't stand getting ordered by someone she either doesn't know, trust, or want to care about. other than that, you can be sure that once you befriend her, she's not going to lie to you or try to get the better of you. She'll stick at your side and be as funny as hell. Another great thing about Bert is that, though she looks childish, she's probably as smart as an enlightened Buddhist Monk. She can make decisions that need to be made, and she knows what to say, and when to say it.
Even if she has these smarts, the problem is that she's constantly either too lazy to use them, or just not in the mood. Her moods can bounce around drastically, and so can her style. Yet she's still not into girly. Sexy, maybe, but not girly. She can't stand prissy girls, she can fight pretty well, and she's a good friend of pain. Her years in the orphanage had taught her to fend for herself, but the short time with her new family has changed her outlook on the world a bit. She's almost having too much fun with all this new stuff she's being given and all. She's a smack-talking freakazoid that likes Manga and Anime and Reading and Drawing, and she's not afraid to show off her higher-than-a-college-student reading level.
Even so, she's got a soft side. She's great with advice, for the most part, and can deal with rude people without flinching. Though she'll kick their cans somewhere along the line. When preoccupied thinking, she can be quiet. but for the most part she's a ramboncious little beast who enjoys causing other people hell, if she dislikes them. Like Annie. While she's a bit OCD in her own right, she doesn't force it on others. She keeps to herself over such things, she doesn't give others information about her past or weaknesses, and she's a great breakfast cook. She redeems herself with her cooking, in the end. You gotta love her, and her youth means she's not vain. or in the constant mood to find someone to make love with.
past She was born and raised in a dirty old run down shack. With multiple sets of generations, and multiple sets of cousins, aunts, uncles, and siblings. It was like a community, yet even still she was not properly taken care of. The last child of an aging widow, she was forgotten for the most part. It's your classic child abuse sort of case. Look it up in the books. She tried to last, she really did. So, at the age of 7, she found herself in deep shit. Her family was found out, and there was a raid. She was taken, among weapons and drugs and stolen goods. But no one else was seperated. She found that to be perfectly fine. It suited her, because then she was free of her past. Though, she was young at the time, she most likely had no clue what was going on.
So for the rest of her little life she rotted away in the orphans home, right? Classic storybook way to die, right? Well, no, she wouldn't have it. She lived there, her smarts growing and her personality budding. And she was, in turn, found out by this, like, russian-muslim family. Yeah, she wasn't sure what to think of it. They had an adult dauhter, her sister, who was off teaching stupid whore and jock highschoolers. Yeah, yeah, she should know better than to call them that, because after a short period of staying home with Sir Aslan and Lady Julie, she was shipped off to Annie, her sister, to get a better education. And because her 'father' hated her gutts. Hey, it was still attention, she loved it. She got attention everywhere she went, then. At her psychiatrist appointments, walking down new york's crowded streets alone, and soon enough, in the hallways of a bustling highschool. And she was only 13, dear god.

Well, she got kicked out and dumped on Annie. Joy. They don't see eye to eye, though don't have the same morals. But they're both such retards, getting joy from simple things. Annie likes fires, Bert likes.... explosive materials. So what? They're /sisters/, now! They should be bonding! Even still, it's hard having your sister as your teacher, AND your roommate. Is there /no/ privacy over whether she forgot to do her homework? Well, at least she won't get a failing grade...
Life is looking up, the past is receeding in the rear view mirror, and she's growing up fast. Hurry, kids, view the amazing Bert for 2 dollars a person, before time runs out. Because, as we all know, things change. People change. GRADES change. Tastes, interests, personalities, attitudes, abilities, the works. So far, however, things are running smoothly. The bus left the station, the people all sat on it and minded their own business, and hopefully the bus can hit the brakes at the red light fast enough before something goes awry.

book title Mary Poppins
backstoryBurt is, as I like to call it, comic relief. He flirts with Mary Poppins, he's a Jack-Of-All-Trades, and in the recent Mary Poppins theatre performance, he walks up walls. I saw it, I believe it. He's the one that, in the end, teaches the kids the true art of imagination, and of believeing and being light hearted, even when in difficult and dreary situations.
In some cases, he is the narrator for the story, and in others he's just another main character that plays around and helps to teach the kiddies and the family itself to be kind to one another. He's, as I believe, the leader of the Chimney Sweeps. And he's got a beautiful voice.... And face! *drool*
