Okay, so I'm getting started uber late. Yes, I'd consider 6 days uber late if the goal is 50,000 words D:
But seriously, I had like half of my friends follow my novel writing before, but I never finish them, and they always want me to, so I'm determined to write one and finish it!
So, I'm using Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap for inspiration, especially because I've only been more than obsessed with that song for about...say...a week now. Listen to it over and over until I get something up.
So, I'm just going to start writing, and I'll post this when I think I've got something. This is really just for me to organize all my ideas, but if you'd like to comment, feel free.
She wakes up in her apartment. Hair messed up, bruises on her arms, scratches on her face. Half of her furniture is missing. What the...?
The dusty glass on her window shows only a gray sky outside. The streets are almost still with people, expressionless faces and motionless bodies. The apartment is empty.
She explores the city, basically, in a dream-like state. Her life as you see it is a dream. The streets of New York, motionless? Yeah, has to be a dream.
Anyways, there's something different about New York. It's not the same. Obviously, the statues on the street are strange, but there's a garden with a beautiful fountain. It seems like it was full of life. The plants are thriving, beautiful blue lights float around in the purple haze. The sky turns dark when you enter, and it's almost like an alternate universe. An old woman in a long white gown with beautiful, youthful flowers in her hair sits on a stool. You may grow old, but love will always stay young in the ideal world.
Flashback.
Less of a flashback and more of a "back to reality" type thing. Basically, the garden disappears and the streets go back to normal, as if she were waking from the dream, but she's invisible, almost like she's dead because people walk right through her, but she's not dead, obviously, just in some sort of dream state. I don't know, I'm gonna figure all this out when it's not 1:00 in the morning. This is just a crazy terribly written synopsis of the plot in my head from Hide and Seek. Anyways, the garden turns out to be a graveyard. Love has died in her life, and that is reality.
Back to the dream.
Beautiful garden, wonderful garden, beautiful fountain with beautifully clear water, standing perfectly still in the bowl. Looks into it, sees her reflection move from the water, almost jumping towards her. She falls back, old woman looks at her, sad expression, almost angry. Girl goes back to fountain, same thing, reflection jumping out, but this time she's prepared and doesn't fall back. She moves too fast in reality. She tries to keep up with the city, but it's impossible. She needs to relax. Old woman goes crazy, bursts into flames. Garden burns down?
Back on the streets.
Statues, still. Won't talk to the girl, obviously, it's like they're petrified. Girl is wondering what the crap is going on, like she has been, but more frantically. Wind blows, brunette flashes before her and runs away with the wind. Girl's like "??!" and tries to run after her. The wind turns colors, the girl can see the wind. Brunette girl uses wind to jump like a crazy acrobat WHOA WHOA WHOA onto all these places that main character can't get to without crazy WHOA WHOA WHOA acrobat wind. Main character gives up for now, looking around. Um, crap she's lost. Buildings are smaller; not like Manhattan, but not one/two story. Becoming more like five/ten story buildings.
idk, that's all for now. Seriously, my muse is asleep, as I'm sure you can probably tell by my writing. I'll clean things up tomorrow. I think this is more of a chapter by chapter synopsis than an overall plot.
Really, as for an overall plot, what I think I've got is this:
The woman's life is falling apart. Maybe she falls asleep, maybe she faints, maybe she cries, maybe she just got in a fight. Who knows? (I will tomorrow, I hope lol)
Anyways, she enters into this dream world, and it becomes reality for her. At first she's like "Oh crap! Why is this happening to me! My life was falling apart and now everyone is turned to stone! The last thing I loved, the last thing that healed me, the energy of the city and the happiness and content and energy in everyone's movement and expression has been destroyed! I'm gone! My soul is lost!"
Okay, great, now she's in this dream world and I guess she has to "find herself"
First off is like the Trial of Love, or Trial of Relationships, hence the Garden of Young Love (that's what I'm calling it for now) and her friend that's running away from her. Gotta find her and whatnot. Every now and then the reader gets to see scenes that she ends up remembering and places she ends up recognizing from the real world. From reality.
Anyways, I think I'm keeping the wounds, and with every resolved trial of her life, a wound is healed in her dream state, and once all of her wounds are healed in her dream state, she goes back to reality. I'm thinking that once she's back in reality, she'll have to fix her problems there, so she'll fall into some sort of deep depression because she realizes that all that work was done for nothing, when in reality (haha, in the reality of her dream state xD) she actually figured out all the answers to the causes of her stress and how to fix it.
Maybe she fixes it in reality, maybe she doesn't.
Anyways, in her dream state, she'll meet people, strange creatures, and they'll all represent aspects of herself.
And that's it for tonight. I'll clean this up tomorrow. I am seriously tired, and with this plot, I feel like I was on some kind of drug lol, but those are always the best! I think?
