distinctive traits Her nearly white hair which she maintains religiously, she has large eyes that seem to be always open, and bright.
...personal*
personality Rachel is upbeat, and chirpy. She a bit loud, and likes to run, instead of slowing down to enjoy the nature. She prefers to be outside, rather than cooped up inside a room. She's open and outgoing, and likes to make new friends, and doesn't seem to understand why she's disliked.
She has a petrifying fear of heights, her legs will go immobile if she has to go up any higher than a second story. She doesn't like balconies, planes, or anything of the sort. Rollercoasters, and ferris wheels are definatly a big no-no for her. Unlike her typically happy disposition, if she's forced to go up heights, or teased about it, she will get snappish and crabby.
She also has a fascination with hair, she took electives in her previous High School that led her to decide she wanted to be a hair stylist. She's always cutting, dying, and trimming people's hair. But her own rarely changes, she doesn't like it much longer than her shoulders, and it's always a stark, blinding white-blonde. She'll try and fool you, and tell you it's completely natural...until you point out the dark roots starting to show.
past Rachel was adopted. She doesn't like to talk about it much, but she was raised by a small family. A older man, and woman, who were no longer able to have children. It seemed to be a happy family at first, Rachel never had to want for anything. After Rachel reached the age of 7, her adoptive father left the family. Parts of her memory were blocked, and it was frustrating to see around the blocks. To her, he was there one morning, and gone that night.
As a result, her mother became increasingly strict, and demanding. It seemed every little thing that Rachel did wrong would get her grounded, and restricted to the house. When she reached thirteen, she had become the belle of the ball. She was petite, and small. With a high voice, and a doll-like face. Boys fell left and right for her, and were asking her to go to movies, and go to the formals of their school. This didn't help her mother, who had put on weight, and was now struggling to make ends meet. Rachel's mother forbid her from being anywhere with a boy, and she was grounded for two weeks after sneaking to a boy's house at fourteen.
Then one day, Rachel heard about a wonderful school. Baum Academy, and quickly submit an application, a desperate cry for freedom. She waited patiently in her room, staring out the window for the mail man. Only one day, did he arrive with the accpetance letter, did she immediatly pack her backs, and await her starting semester.
present Due to her constant grounding, and restrictions, she's become a free-loving spirit, who hates rules. If one were to say she can't do something, she will reply with a "Well, why not?". She prefers to be outside, and has signed up for as many classes that allow her to be outside. She's claustrophobic, so she doesn't like the small spaces, and will only be in her dorm to sleep. And even then, it's fitful, with the walls breathing down upon her.
Rachel will introduce herself as Rachel-Ziggy, as it seems somehow more exotic than just 'Rachel'. Ziggy was the name she was given by her birth mother, and her adoptive mother, out of respect, kept the name, but as her middle. Rachel has always been curious to who her birth mother was, but has been too afraid to search. After all--what if they lived in a 20 story apartment?!

book title Rapunzel
backstoryUnce upon a time there was a woman round with child, who began to crave the Rapunzel Lettuce. This was a rare lettuce, and existed in the neighbor's garden...of course...the neighbor happened to be a wicked witch. The woman's husband snuck into the witch's garden to steal the lettuce, until one day, the Witch caught him.
The Witch allowed the man to take all the lettuce, if they promised to give their first born to the Witch once she was birthed. Regretibly, they did so, and Rapunzel was raised by the witch. As Rapunzel grew older, her beauty became more apparent, and jealous that she would one day leave the house, the wicked Witch locked Rapunzel in a tower, where her hair grew and grew. And every day to visit, th witch would call, 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.' and scale the golden tresses. Until one day...it wasn't the witch's voice that called out...

Central Park was one place the Andy had been looking foward to the most. In this concrete jungle of New York, there was a piece of wilderness right smack dab in the middle of the chaos of the city. Fountain, walk paths, and stretches of trees that on foot--seemed to go on forever. It was a drastic change from Sandusky, Ohio; and the small part of her that was wild and free, seemed to thrive amongst the trees.
Arriving at the park, Andy wasn't sure which way to go. Foward, or perhaps to the left, maybe the right. Instead, she let her feet to the talking as she took the path, illuminated in the evening with glowing streetlamps, and trees bending over the small road. Benches lines the fence, and people scattered the area. Sitting in the grass laughing and joking, lovers with their arms intwined upon the benches.
Though the people wern't what drew on the silent girl. Her head was tilted up to stare at the trees, dark brown eyes looking at everything but the people. Her hands were tucked into the solid black hoodie, it had been windy since the moment she arrived, and the sky seemed darker than usual, threatening to pour down over the city. Her hair was tucked in the back of the hoodie, held in place by a simple black band, to keep the dark tendrils from blocking her view of the magnificent park.
Andrea had been more interested in visiting thr park, and getting familiar with it instead of getting to know the campus. After all, she would be seeing enough of the campus in her classes, she could get to know the walls of the school later on. The park seemed almost mystical, alive in the sense that people were always buzzing around.
She continued to walk, and settled upon an abandonded bench, her legs stretching out infront of her, back pressed against the back of the bench, her head supported by the back of the bench as well and stared up towards the sky.
It was hard to see the stars, amongst all the lights of the park and the city, but she knew they were there, hidden behind the lights and the clouds, shining brilliantly and boldly. How wonderful it would be, she pondered, To rest on the clouds and see the stars.
Andrea due to her...quiet disposition, didn't have many friends back home. She was too silent to put herself in the spotlight to make new ones. Perhaps things would be different here, in New York. Then again, everyone probably looked like a new face, due to the vastness of the city. She chewed on her cheeks, and continued to stare at the sky, blinking slowly. It was so peaceful here, even with the mumble of the people. Though she was silent herself, she never felt comfortable with pure, tangible silence. The liked the smallest sounds, even the chittering of the squirrels, or the creaking of the crickets. New York already felt like a magical release full the monotony of Ohio.
