distinctive traits You can always see her with an anchor pendant around her neck. It was a gift from her (albeit distant) father before he died, and now she wears it as a token all the time. She also has a nasty habit of twirling a lock of hair around her finger.
...personal*
personality Christie has always been a major tattle tale. She just loves to expose people for their character faults or mistakes. This is largely due to the fact that she's a major supremascist, herself never dabbling in drugs or alcohol, and still keeping those grades at the top of the scale come the end of the marking period. She considers herself working at a much higher pace than everyone else and takes great pleasure in pointing out other people's flaws to whoever will listen. it's not the cruelty she enjoys so much (oh god, she would DIE if she tried to say any of it to their faces!) It's the sneaking around and deception that she likes. It's just too much fun!
Christie has a special place in her heart reserved for her sister Krystal, though. She would NEVER betray her or rat her out. She sees the two of them as the best possible students in all of Baum's history. They can do NO wrong, and as such prized students should be favored by all the teachers.
Christie has a special place in her heart for art class. With it being taught by her favorite teacher it's kind of hard for her to have a bad experience in there. She also happens to have a major crush on who she considers to be THE epitome of male beauty and perfection, the one and only Neil Sanderson. He's just so... deep. Like an ocean of artistic talent, y'know? She just wants to join their combined perfection and just... live happily ever after.
past Christie was never one for having many friends. Living in Mayport, Florida (with beach front housing, thank you very much) she was in the middle of where it was practically LAW to be social and have best friends galore, but she was never too keen on the idea. Why the heck should she? Friends were only for people who were insecure and needed people to back them up. Christie had all that and more with her precious sister, Krystal.
Of course, with their Father off on Navy-related duty most of the time and their mother in court or doing Paperwork, Christie and Krystal were left to look after themselves (with countless nannies and whatever, but they didn't really count. It's not like they DID stuff). Christie was always very protective and loving to her sister, playing with her all the time and going for swims in the gentle waves. It didn't make sense to her to do anything else.
In school, she fell in love with the sport of gymnastics and art. Sure, the other classes were fun (and easy, too) but she loved those two best. Gymnastics just felt... right, as she tested the limits of how far her body could bend, or tried to see just how flexible she really was. Art was a great escape from everything else going on in her life. She loved to paint the ocean best, with dolphins and eels and fish of all sorts, with beautiful, bright watercolors. They were the best parts of the world, in her opinion, all the watery landscapes.
Of course, her entire life changed when her father died in a storm at sea. It was supposed to be such an easy little excursion. He was just going to be gone for a week but then...that stupid hurricane came and daddy never came back.
Christie was just 10 years old when it happened. Old enough to figure out what was happening. She was heartbroken, confused, frightened. How could this happen? Before she knew it, they were moving away from her perfect home, the waves and the surf, and into some godforsaken city that sure, had water, but it wasn't the SAME. Gone were the endless days of sun and water and here she was, cramped into some puny apartment with her Mom and Krystal, where it was rainy half the time, and the other half you had to incline your head 180 degrees to see any GLIMPSE of the sky.
present Christie is continuing with her two passions, art and gymnastics. She has found that her absolute favorite teacher in the school is undoubtedley Miss Shaw. Christie doesn't know what it is about her, but she just feels like she's the only adult who has ever really "gotten" her. She's the only teacher she really feels she can go to with all her dirty little secrets about the other kids.
Miss Shaw is a major reason Christie started working at the Make a wish foundation. Like most other things, Christie got into it with her sister, Krystal. Together, they went through the hospitals and such, collecting and passing out money for the cancer victims and poor unfortunate (literally) children who couldn't afford treatment.

...literature*
book title The Little Mermaid
backstory Flotsam was one half of the amazing eel duo in the Little Mermaid movie. Of course, in the original story (Hans Christian Anderson) the only reference to them was as "Fat water snakes who the sea witch called her "chickens"'. In the disney recreation ( where I was forced to get alot of my inspiration) they were two very specific morray eels that were the servants of Ursula, the sea witch.

rp sample Becky was so excited for Band today, more so than usual, in fact. It had taken her an entire year to build up this empire of members, but now that the band room was starting to get uncomfortably packed with members she couldn't help but feel a rush of triumph. SHE had built up this massive flock of musicians to join the ensemble. She knew for a fact that there was nothing near this many members in that stupid art club or whatever the hell Neil was calling it these days.
Looking over the throngs that were quickly trying to take out their assorted instruments and get to their seats with their sheet music before Mr.K officially started rehearsal, she shivered with that "job well done" feeling. Just one look at the number of people who had been so uncultured before they stepped inside this room was astounding. They had gone from being some small little group in the beginning of her high school career to... this, stately lord among bands. They were obviously a cut above every other group of the school.
And she, Becky Carlson, was the one that brought it all to pass. She was like, a mother to this entire group, the one that made it all possible for them to join in this elite club among clubs.
Now, of course, there were a few...undesirables within the mix. A few druggies here and there, a scattered number of people who didn't know the difference between a #C and a ♮B. A couple who were only here because they assumed there would be food at some point, but they didn't matter, right? The ends justified the means, right? If by the end of the year they had a kickass band teeming with members it justified all the druggies and idiots she had to fraternize with to get them to join right?
Of course it was right. It was for the good of the band.
