Jeanette sat cross-legged on the bed, her book open on her lap. Finally, the chapter ended, and she could tear herself away to go make sweet tea. She placed the bookmark in and put the book on her pillow. Smiling happily, she slid off the bed and practically skipped into the kitchen.
Pulling her clunky teakettle off of the shelf, Jeanie filled it with water and placed it on the stove. As she waited for the water to heat up, her eye caught the time. 8:30. Had she really just spent three hours reading? She needed somebody to talk to. Honestly, she had thought that Jane and her were going to be good friends, but she hadn't seen her since that one day. Maybe she still would, but it was a bit disheartening not to see her anymore. And Mallory was supposed to take her places- a promise she was still awaiting.
Wandering back into the bedroom, she began to re-arrange her shoes as she waited for the water to boil. It wasn't as though she needed to do anything else. Her homework was done, her book was amazing- but if she went back to it, she wouldn't be able to stop until the next chapter (and those chapters were long!)- and she had next to no social life.
At least she had tea! The kettle began to sing, and she dumped a ton of sugar in it before getting the big pitcher full of ice and teabags. As the boiling water met the ice, steam rose, just as it was supposed to. At least, this was the way momma always did it, and Momma's tea was delicious. As she stirred it around, shoots of color came off of the teabags, turning the water around them from clear to the color of iced tea. Once the bags were steeped, Jeanette placed the whole thing in the freezer.
A sudden knock on the door made Jeanette freeze for an instant. She wasn't expecting anyone. Oh, no, wait! She WAS expecting Mallory. Throwing open the door with a soft smile, she asked, "Are you Mallory?"

Mallory hadn't had a damned thing to do all day except sit on Facebook and laugh at the horrid bitches that plagued her 'empire's' hallways. She sat on the couch with her legs tucked under her and the television on a soft mummer. Checking he clock she realized that it was a quarter till 8. Ugh! "Whaaaaatt the Fuck!" She cursed aloud as she plopped her computer on the cushion next to her and jumped up to head to the kitchen.
While she finished making a PB&J sandwich, she noticed a slip of paper flutter from the table to the floor. Out of immense curiosity sparked by boredom, she went and looked at the paper. Written in her script, girlie handwriting were, Jeanie E5. Then it hit her who Jeanie was. She was that girl from the chat room desperate for a friend and Mallory was desperate for something to do.
In a blur of bags, clothes, makeup, and pajamas, Mallory was all packed and ready for a girl's night. As she made her way out her dorm, she locked up and began her walk. Luckily, Jeanie only lived a few turns, a long walk in the dark, then around a few more turns. Mallory made it to Jeanie's dorm now all she had to do was knock.
Mallory knocked loud enough for someone awake to hear, but soft enough for someone sleeping not to. She waited patiently for a few moments that dragged on for centuries until she heard movement behind the door. Let me in. It is cold out here in my Pjs." Mallory said with a hint of a giggle in her voice. The door opened wide and the girl on the other side asked if she was Mallory,"Yeah, Beotch. Come on. Hurry up! Help me carry this stuff in." Mallory walked in wearing a smile.

Just before Jeanie opened the door, a voice rambled in.
Let me in. It is cold out here in my Pjs."
"Yeah, Beotch. Come on. Hurry up! Help me carry this stuff in."
Mallory replied to her question. Perhaps not in the nicest way, but it was probably just Mallory's way. Stooping, Jeanette picked up some bags, and wandered into her bedroom, placing the bags against the wall to the right of her bed, not bothering to tell Mallory where anything was- her dorm was probably laid out in much the same way, and Jeanette got the impression that Mallory could deal with herself.
After she put down Mallory's stuff, Jeanie rushed over to the door to close it; it was getting a little drafty. "Want anything to eat or drink?" She asked happily. Having Mallory over was MUCH better than being alone and reading her book. Speaking of which, she rushed over and placed it on a shelf in her closet. Turning back towards Mallory she shyly enquired, "So, what do you want to do?" Her soft Georgian accent colored her voice. Wearing: here

Mallory set her bags next to where Jeanie set the other bags. She sighed at the dullness of the room compared to her's which was full of bright yellows and pinks, like Pink Lemonade.
"Want anything to eat or drink?"
Mallory turned to Jeanie with a wicked smile, "Got any Red Bull and Vodka?" Mallory let the idea simmer in Jeanie's minds before finishing with laugh. "I am only joking. I'll have a Diet Coke. Kay?Thannks!"
Mallory dipped down to her bags withdrawing a dozen or so magazines, assorted colors of nail polish, a hairbrush & straightener, and her Ipod with a Mallory Ihome.
"So, what do you want to do?"
"Well obviously I brought enough stuff to last all night! Which will be our major objective." Clicking the On button on her Ihome and turning the volume dial to max, she found the perfect song to start to the night. The song was Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. "So Pede's and Mani's, Make-up makeover, and/or Hair Makeovers?" Mallory had all the right equipment for any and all of these ideas, plus she was great at them too. Outfit:Here

As she waited for Mallory to reply, Jeanette wondered why she was staring at the room that way. Probably because it wasn't really decorated. She didn't bother decorating it now, because summer was coming and she'd have to take it down right away anywho.
"Got any Red Bull and Vodka?"
Wait, WHAT? What even WAS Red Bull? And wasn't Vodka hard liquor? By the wicked look on Mallory's face, she saw the shocked look on Jeanette's face.
"I am only joking. I'll have a Diet Coke. Kay?Thannks!"
Oh, phew. Jeanie let out a small stream of laughter, more of a nervous aftermath than anything. Stumbling to the fridge, she popped out a diet coke that she didn't even know she'd had- maybe it was her roomie's, but oh, well. She'd just have to buy Allie another one if it was. Popping it open, she listened to the quiet fizzle of the drink as she poured it in the paper cup.
"Here y'go," She handed Mallory the paper cup after pouring herself some sweet tea. Oh, did she ever love sweet tea! Pushing her slippers off her feet against the bed, she smiled. This was MUCH better than spending her night reading her book! She watched in slight awe as Mallory pulled out a bunch of stuff, including some magazines Jeanie might not want to read, and her iPod, which Mallory fiddled with until it started blasting some song that she thought she'd heard before, in the mall during a trip to Atlanta or something.
"Well obviously I brought enough stuff to last all night! Which will be our major objective."
Wait, all night? Jeanette had only stayed up until midnight before, on New Year's Eve to see the party there that happened then. Maybe she was up for it. All night? Maybe it was fun!
"So Pede's and Mani's, Make-up makeover, and/or Hair Makeovers?"
Waiting for an instant, Jeanie realized it was a question, not a statement. She should probably answer her then. Replying, Jeanette chattered enthusiastically, "Sounds great!"
Sounded like tonight was going to be one heck of a party. It was strange, trying new things, but not half as strange as coming out to New York City and living here among over a million people after coming from a town of less than 1000. Jeanie was up for trying it, at least once. Like a new food: try it once, if you don't like it, you don't have to eat it after that. You never knew until you tried, after all.

Mallory set all the 'equipment' on the floor as she waited for her drink. *Isn't just exciting?* Dorothy finally made an appearance. *It's whatever. I just need something to do, besides a boy.* Mallory lashed back, not wanting to admit her giddiness. *Oh Mallory Marie. Stop being just a drag. Just smile and have fun.* With that Dorothy went to the far corner of Mallory's mind. What she was doing there, Mallory was clueless on.
"Here y'go!"
Mallory shook herself from her thoughts, as she shot a quick smile and took the paper cup from Jeanie. Mallory gave her a smile, then took a drink quenching her dry throat.
"Sounds great!"
Well that really didn't give Mallory a starting point, but at least Jeanie was up for it. "So first I was thinking Make-up Makeover, like you do me and I do you. Then Hair. and finish with Medi/Pedi's. We can watch any of these movies," Mallory threw Jeanie a bag full of chick flicks, "while I fill you in on the Needs-to-Know of Baum." Mallory gave Jeanie another wicked smile.
Mallory felt a wave of excitement crash into her. Not because of Jeanie's lack of self-esteem that Mallory would have to build, but because Mallory was making Jeanie a follower. Someone Mallory could run to and dish all the latest dirt about this or that Bitch. Mallory's lips said fixed on that evil grin as she formulated her plan.

"So first I was thinking Make-up Makeover, like you do me and I do you. Then Hair. and finish with Medi/Pedi's. We can watch any of these movies,"
Jeanie pulled herself on the bed, sitting cross-legged. She nodded to Mally's plan, starting to get excited. Catching the bag Mally tossed at her, she rummaged through the movies. Ooh, 50 first dates! That was one she always had wanted to see. She placed it beside her on the bed. They could probably watch quite a few before the night was over. An excited grin snuck onto Jeanette's face. This was going to be so much fun!!!
"while I fill you in on the Needs-to-Know of Baum."
Oh. LIke teachers who were evil and stuff? Nope, by Mally's evil smile, it was going to be all gossip. Oh well. She didn't have to take it seriously or anything.
"Let's start with this'ne," She giggled, holding up the movie, "And maybe move on to some others later." Tossing it towards Mally, she asked, "So y'brought the makeup and mani/pedi stuff, right? Let's get started! Can you do me first, or do you want me to do you first? Or should we start the movie first?" Now she was starting to babble, but that was okay. This was just so exciting!

While Mallory talked about the Needs-to-Knows of Baum, she noticed Jeanie's eyes light up then fade. She must of assumed Mallory meant something about teachers or something of that nature, but Mallory wanted to fill Jeanie in on all the GOSSIP and DRAMA behind the doors of BAUM. Mallory felt like saying something, like "Get over it. If we are going to be friends, You have to be informed! So Shut the Fuck up. Whiny Bitch." But Mallory was enjoying this girl time and Jeanie would probably start crying, or worse.
"Let's start with this 'ne and maybe move on to some others later."
Mallory jumped as the movie case hit her arm. She felt her face go flush with heat, but she took a deep breath and plastered a smile. But the smile faded when she read the title of the movie. "Really? 50 First Dates?" Sighing Mally shook her head and crawled over to the Television and DvD player.
"So y'brought the makeup and mani/pedi stuff, right? Let's get started! Can you do me first, or do you want me to do you first? Or should we start the movie first?"
After starting the movie, Mallory decided to answer Jeanie. "Hell Yeah! I brought EVERYTHING we will need! And about I do you first, since I've seen this movie like a billion times already." As Mallory said this she cleared some room for Jeanie to sit. "So what colors do you want your nails? I am thinking a violet. You look like you'd like violet, or maybe plum. Plum is sooo much more girl and cute, but it is you choice." Mallory gathered all the 'tools' that she needed to do a good Mani/Pedi.

Mallory wasn't looking when Jeanette tossed the movie her way. She blushed pink when it hit Mally. Whoops. Now she seemed kinda angry, but, then she took a deep breath and seemed to compose herself and get ready to have fun again. Until she saw the title of the movie.
"Really? 50 First Dates?" she asked with a sigh and a shake of her head before putting in in the video player. "Hell Yeah! I brought EVERYTHING we will need! And about I do you first, since I've seen this movie like a billion times already."
"Sounds fine t'me," Jeanette conceded, sitting down in the place Mally made for her. Making herself comfortable as the movie started, she began to feel a little less awkward.
"So what colors do you want your nails? I am thinking a violet. You look like you'd like violet, or maybe plum. Plum is sooo much more girl and cute, but it is your choice."
Thinking for a bit, Jeanette chose, "Plum'll be fine." Since you seem to like it better. Jeanie really didn't want to do anything to set Mally off again. This was supposed to be fun.

The voices from the movie stayed a slightly annoying background noise, as Mallory gathered all she needed. She would have fun. Fun is necessary in any sane girl's life. To bad that Mallory had a fairytale character locked in her mind, so she didn't qualify as 'sane.'
Mallory kept her face down as Jeanie settled into the spot Mallory had cleared for her.
"Plum'll be fine."
Mallory's head shot up at the words Jeanie spoke. She just agreed with her without a whine. Mallory smiled as she grabbed Jeanie's hands. "Good choice." Mallory spoke as she untwisted the cap and pulled Jeanie's hand closer to her. " So Jeanie. You are from Georgia right?" Mallory asked politely, and a bit surprised that she remembered such a minor detail.
As she waited for Jeanie's reply, she recapped the nail polish and grabbed her Nail File&Buffer and went to shaping Jeanie's nails. Mallory caught her eyes drift to the movie. ^Adam Sandler was adorably sweet in that movie.^ Dorothy chimmed in. ^. . . How do YOU know Adam Sandler?^ Mallory answered back. ^Well, we have seen this movie MANY MANY times.^ Dorothy said with giggle. Mallory rolled her eyes, but the edges of her mouth fought to form a smile.

"Good choice."
Mallory reached for Jeanette's hand, so Jeanette offered it. Mallory began to paint Jeanette's nails a beautiful, rich purple, while Jeanette's attention strayed to the movie. Oh, this was an Adam Sandler movie!
""
"Yeah, I grew up in a tiny town of less than 1000 people. Going straight to New York was, like Momma would say, quite the culture shock." Jeanette rambled for a bit, but gradually faded as both she and Mally became absorbed by the movie. Aww, how sweet! A waffle house! Jeanette grimaced for an instant when Mallory began to file her nails. She never has liked the sensation.
