...personal*personalityJane is usually very kind, but only to people who share that with her, because she absolutely detests people who are mean, ie the popular clique at school and such. Usually she will stand up for people being teased by the popular crew, but not always, especially if she holds a grudge against whomever is being teased. However, she is fiercely loyal and will never betray her friends unless she had been betrayed first.
As true to her Peter Pan personification, she does not want to grow up and interestingly has a desire for her high school career to last as long as possible, which usually freaks her classmates out quite a bit. Jane does not believe in fairy tales and is fairly grounded in reality, except for the occasional flight of fancy that she can't seem to control. She is the only one who considers them embarrassing, in fact most of her friends, teacher and parents consider her bursts of creativity quite cute.
For another thing, Jane is very moody and isn't afraid to show her emotions. Usually she makes a good first impression on people, as they do on her, but not always and she only has a group of friends that she has had for years and years, because she has to intensely trust someone in order to add them to her circle of friends. Mostly, she loves art and music, and is very creative.
past Jane grew up in San Francisco, and has always, always, ALWAYS lived under the banner "I don't want to grow up!" This was only intensified in her first year of junior high, when two things happened. 1. She was uprooted from her home in Berkley, California, having to move to NYC, and 2. girls and boys alike at school started to hit puberty and "grow up". This was much to Jane's displeasure as she found herself caught up in all the confusion of becoming "women", the idea of which she hated both because she STILL didn't want to grow up, and also because she felt intensely uncomfortable of imagining herself as a boy.
Around age thirteen, Jane realized that she'd never truly be happy falling in love, marrying, and having children with a male significant other, which in turn gave her the realization that she was gay. At first, she didn't realize that that sort of thing was taboo in a lot of places (after all, she grew up in San Francisco) and came out of the closet to all of her friends, most of whom were fairly popular. They kicked her out of the clique, which lead to her initial distrust of the popular group, which was only strengthened by the fact that they snubbed her for the rest of her middle school career.
By the time she had entered high school, Jane had read almost all of the classic plays, because since she didn't have many friends, she found that books kept very good company. Among her favorites were Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Ondine, and...Peter Pan. Although Jane has had struggles trying to fit in, she can really identify with a lot of the characters in her books. Especially one that was assigned by her English teacher. Which was, can you guess? The latter.
present Since Jane has read Peter Pan, she has had a lot of trouble coming back to the real world because of her struggles with how similar she seems to the characters, especially the title character. Although she continues to be teased, Jane ignores it like she never could before because of her recent obsession with the play.
Recently, Jane has been having dreams of flying away from New York, and leaving everyone she knows and everything she owns behind, to go somewhere far away. Until her English assignment she assumed it was just premonitions of college, but now she wonders if it may be something more. More than once she has woken up feeling like she was floating above the bed but decided she must still be dreaming. She thinks she may go insane if she doesn't shake this yearning...
family
Father: Abusive alcoholic that disappeared before she was born.
Mother: Fiercely protective of her children, and determined to give them a good life despite their father being a deadbeat bum who doesn't send his child support on time. Actually, he doesn't send child support. Period.
likes Art, Drawing, Chocolate, the color Purple, Reading
dislikes Jerks, Parties, Loud Noises, Lazy People
other notesWhen people ask her about her sexuality: Let's get one thing straight. I'm not. Hates crappy food, not because she's watching her figure but because fatty food makes her sick. She is also a major introvert.
...literature*book title Lost Boy (Girl)
backstory Peter Pan rescues Wendy, John, and Michael from the horror of having to move out of the nursery (I'm sorry if I'm terribly inaccurate, I'm just going from what I remember about the movie) by taking them away to Neverneverland, where no one has to grow up. All seems well, with the Lost Boys patrolling and everyone able to have fun. Wendy acts as a sort of denmother to the Lost Boys. Unfortunately, all is not well, because the devious Captain Hook is out to get revenge on Peter Pan. The crocodile is out to get revenge on Captain Hook. (What for? Who knows? Maybe he's just looking for a snack)
Meanwhile, Wendy and Peter notice a relationship developing, and Tinkerbell is quite jealous. Although she tries to seek revenge on several occasions, she never succeeds, which is good for Wendy. Unfortunately, this could get quite awkward for Wendy, seeing as Peter's a girl. While their is a fair share of turmoil, including strife with Indian neighbors and an eventual epic battle with Captain Hook, all is well. Wendy and the boys return home and face reality and Peter doesn't make another visit until Wendy is married with children. Quite unfortunate, really.

Four-year-old Robert Garnier sat on his porch in District Five, wishing for something interesting to happen. His birthday was in three days, and that was interesting enough, but he was used to instantaneous gratification, and he wanted excitement now. He looked down at his sticky palms, still covered with the lollipop from the night before, and slicked back his hair, which stuck for a second, then sprung back into its curls a moment later. Suddenly, remembering why his hands were sticky and that there was a candy shop just down the way, he got to his feet and hobbled down the street before his older sister Rosalind could notice he was gone.
Rosalind
Rosalind Garnier, on the other hand, was used to having to work for the things she wanted. Even though her family had purchased a microwave from the Capitol a year earlier, she refused to use the thing, claiming that nothing in this world, especially food, should be that instantaneously gratifying.
"If food was meant to cook that fast," she always said, "the sun would be a lot hotter." And she was right, of course. In this case, on the 9th of June, she was trying to make oatmeal and it wasn't going very well. First, she had boiled the water then stirred it into the oats, but it had cooled off too quickly and now, determined not to resort to the microwave, she pulled out a pot and sighed, knowing she would have to spend about 10 minutes scrubbing it clean afterwards. While her breakfast heated on the stove, she waited for her younger siblings to wake up. Robert hadn't even gone to sleep the last two days because of his permanent sugar high. She took the top off of the saucepan and stirred the oats while looking pensively out the window. It was only then she realized that her younger brother, who had been there only a moment ago, was now AWOL.
"Damn," she swore, and took off down the road.
