Cleo loved people. She especially loved babies, boys, and itty bitty freshmen. Cleo had always adored her underclassmen. Their amazing ability to get lost, the cute confused expressions the wore, the way they got shorter every year. Freshmen were just so darn cute! She loved the little darlings. It was the coolest thing ever, arriving at high school and learning of Link Crew. Link Crew, bless their hearts, planned freshmen orientation and helped the little bitty's find their way around. It'd been no surprise when Cleo signed up for it. Personally, she thought the program improved by leaps and bounds after she'd gotten through with it. Then, she'd discovered that Barrie University had a Welcoming Committee and she actually went out with her mother and grandfather for a celebratory dinner. "Barrie U. has a Welcoming Committee!" she had toasted. Sophomore year was the year she joined and the best year of her college life. Cleo, like any other college student, did enjoy the parties, of course. But she especially loved helping brand new students find their classrooms, find their dorm rooms, find the library. It was this warm, fuzzy feeling inside, knowing that she had helped somebody.
A piece of paper was set in front of her. Mr. O, the supervisor of the Welcoming Committee, was handing out freshmen who had signed up for tours. The way she worded her thought made her laugh and a boy sitting behind her peered over her shoulder. "Rebecca Carlson? What's so funny about that?" Cleo only laughed again and rotated in her seat. "No, silly, Adam. That's not it. She seems fun, though, doesn't she?" Cleo questioned, reading over the half sheet. The Counseling Office wrote down these information sheets, telling them various things. The basics, majors and minors, dorm room, etc. The boy made a noncommittal sort of noise. "I got some Joey kid." Cleo rolled her eyes and pivoted towards the front of the room as Mr. O began to talk. "Remember! Smile, be polite, respectful. Take thi---" A voice interrupted him, "we hear this all the time, Mr. O! We get it!" A general murmur of agreement sided with Adam. Mr. O waved his hand, dismissing them all and Cleo followed her classmates out the room. There were many conversations and Cleo used this to hurry away from them all. She didn't want to get caught up in the materialism of it all and she wanted to meet her itty bitty freshman on time. Cleo headed across campus, making her way to the Music Hall. She'd been there on few occasions. One) Guys who played instruments were hot... and usually single. Two) she had friends in Choir.
A few minutes later, Cleo found herself at the Music Hall. She stood in the shade of the building, looking around. She stretched, sending her bangle bracelets down her arms and making all sorts of noise. Letting her arms fall to her sides, the noise continued. Where was Miss Rebecca Carlson?

Holy. Fucking. Shit. becky was here. In the place where it ALL happened. She was walking on the stame grounds where hundreds of musical geniuses had walked before her. This was it. These were her first steps towards achieving greatness.
Barrie. Freaking. Academy. School of musical masterminds and home of the gods of music themselves, who taught each and every class faithfully and easily. It was a towering temple to the perfection of music everywhere.
Okay, okay, she totally had to calm down. She had been accepted. She just had to play it smooth. Look like a cool, collected college girl, ready to take on the evils of the world with the power of her piccolo. Nothing could stand in the way between her and musical higher education now!
She totally felt like, like, like some totally glamorous movie star, walking onto a scene. She felt like she could already feel everyone turning her way, already see the flashing lights of glory, already hear the applause.
God, couldn't college be OVER already so she could get to the good stuff?
Okay, so first things first. Introduce herself to the counselor or whatever it was they were called, be REAAALLY nice, and then they would be best friends for eternity and Becky would have her first official College bestie and THEN he would go out to see movies with her and go clubbing and dance all night and all that other college stuff with her college bestie.
O. M. G. THERE IT WAS. THE BARRIE MUSIC HALL!!! Becky was totally about to pass out. So many famous people had todes been right here, and now she was looking at the place that had turned them from awkward teenagers into MASTERS.
Becky saw a girl that she could only ASSUME was the one destined to be Becky's new college bestire, and ran up, smiling widely and giggling obtrusively as she tried to calm down. She had to make sense, she had to be a good student, show that she DESERVED the chance of a lifetime taht was being handed to her on a silver platter.
"HI!!! I'm Becky, or like, Rebecca. That's what it always says on my forms, but I totally go by Becky because Rebecca is just such a stupid overused name, right? OHEMGEE, I love your blouse! It's TOTALLY makes the outfit! Is that what ALL college girls wear?"
Okay, so maybe it wasn't as refined an poised as she would have hoped it to be, but that didn't mean it wasn't a good start! All girls liked to have their taste in clothes complimented, and becky really DID want to steal that top!

Cleo was starting to get worried. She didn’t have a watch on and she couldn’t find a clock. And she certainly could not peek into a classroom to check the time incase her freshman showed up just then. Maybe Rebecca wasn’t late and Cleo was just paranoid. She’d questioned this system a few times before. How were the newbies supposed to know where to meet their tour guides? They’d never been on campus before, after all! But maybe that’s why she was to meet Rebecca here, at the Music Hall. That’s what the girl was majoring in, anyway. Rocking on the heels of her feet, Cleo resisted any more movement since her bracelets made so much noise when she did. Classes were in session, after all. One more reason to adore Welcoming Committee: getting out of class.
THERE SHE WAS!! Okay, so Cleo wasn’t entirely sure if that was Rebecca Carlson. She looked excited enough to be a high school senior/accepted Barrie U freshman. The girl ran over, laughing, and Cleo couldn’t help but to snicker as well. Oh, she was so excited! This made everything so much easier. Some new kids were all obnoxious and not at all in the mood for a tour. They sulked around, making grunting noises and not asking questions. The blonde In front of her, though, seemed psyched! Cleo couldn’t help but to grin as Rebecca Becky went on for about half a minute. Okay, so she preferred Becky. That was good. Cleo already knew a Rebecca, anyway, so now it wouldn’t be as confusing. Awww! She liked her blouse! What an absolute doll! Cleo laughed and wrapped her arms around the freshman, giving her a hug.
Pulling back after a moment, Cleo started up her little routine greeting. “Hi Becky, darling. I’m Cleo and I’ll be your tour guide for the day.” She paused. Did she want to start the tour right away? If so, where did she want to start? Oh! She should thank the sweetheart for the compliment. “Thanks, by the way, hun. Aaaaaalllllll the college girls do wear super stylish clothes.” Cleo paused again before beckoning for Becky to follow her. “I see you’re already on the fast track to looking amazing,” she told the girl, gesturing to her outfit. Super cute. “Incase it wasn’t obvious, this here is the Barrie Music Hall,” Cleo paused to sweep her arm out in a dramatic motion to show she meant the building they were currently about to enter. “So, tell me about yourself, sweetheart.”

becky hung off of every word Cleo told her. It was such an exhilarating rush. This was like, totally taking the first step to greatness. She was learning the campus and everything, and she was talking to a college girl and and and it was just SOOOOO overwhelmingly amazing awesometudity, which wasn't even a word,l but she was pretty sure College kids wouldn't care.
Omg, that nice girl had TOTALY just asked Becky to share about herself. She TOTALLY thought that becky was cool enough that she wanted to know even more about her. OMG!!! This was totally gonna be her way in. After she told Cleo all about her various achievments, then Cleo would TODES want to be besties with her, and THEN she would have a super special mega awesome college friend who would bring her out shopping to the extra epic boutique or whatever it was that sold those frickin fine clothes!!!
"Okay, well, I mean, gosh. I like, legit don't know where to start. Oh god! That didn't sound conceited did it? Ohmygod, it totally did. Anyway, well, I was Band president, and First chair flute and piccolo and I made it to Northern Regionals and All States three years in a row, because I totally wasn't on top of my game in freshman year and stuff and and and..."
Becky trailed off, smiling hopefully at the older girl. Would that have been enough? She wasn't sure. Oh, god, she hoped it was enough. Wait, that wasn't even lik,e her INTERSTS, that was just like, totally all her accomplishments. She was gonna sound like SUCH a snob-nosed brat! Ewww!
"OH, and I totally like shopping too, because like, who doesn't? And like, I think I might go into wedding mangement if my music career falls through, or maybe just as a sideline so....yeah." She laughed awkwardly, hoping that she had lived up to expectation. WORDS447 NOTES=D CREDITMe?

Cleo paid close attention to Becky as she spoke while also trying to make sure she took her time wandering into the Music Hall. She had stuff to explain but she didn’t want to cut the new girl off. Her eyebrows rose and Cleo grinned. Band President and First Chair? Cleo may not have really understood the terms but she knew that they must have been good if one can brag about them. Regionals and States for three years in a row? Goodness, this girl was definitely going places! “That’s impressive!” Cleo chimed once Becky had paused. “I know some people that you would get along with. We have a great appreciation for music here at Barrie U. You’ll be very well-liked here,” Cleo assured her. Pausing in front of a map hanging on the wall, Cleo got ready to explain the way the building was laid out when Becky continued.
“Shopping! Shopping is one of the best past-times there is, doll. Exactly; who doesn’t like shopping?” Cleo could answer that, actually: boys, her grandpa, Amanda Andrews, and boys. “Wedding management? Oh, that sounds fun! Stressful,” Cleo added, “but fun! It would be nice to make somebody’s entire day, I’m sure.” Pausing to see if Becky had anything else to say, Cleo gestured to the map in front of them. There were certain sections of the building for each musical outlet. Choir was further down the hall, Band was a few doors away, Music Appreciation was around the corner and so on. “I think this map is pretty easy to understand, personally. Tell me more about your majors and minors, hun. I want to make sure I know where I’m taking you.” Cleo spoke a bit teasingly but she was serious about her job. To lead a freshman the wrong way was completely unacceptable and she was not going to do such a thing.

As her college buddy showed her around the campus and reacted with just the same level of over-exuberance that Becky typically displayed, she found herself growing more and more attached to this super-amazing, definitely awesome chica( Spanish, was like, TOTALLY the new French. It was the new language of love!). She just had a feeling that this way fabulous collegiate would be her new ticket into the 'in' crowd. She could be her new Clarissa, only like, totally way more fun!
"Well, I'm like, totally majoring in music composition, wtih a minor in Picollo, because Piccolos are totally cool and awesome and the most adorable instruments in the whole entire world, except for pocket trumpets, because those are trumpets, but mini-fied so they can fit into your POCKET! I would totally want to buy one of those-ohmygod, do you think the school has one? In PINK? They totally come in colors, and pink is like, by far the best color in the whole entire world, because it's just a mixture of red which is sensuality and romance, and white which is snow and purity, so it's like, a chastity version of romance!!"
She knew that she was being clingy and loud and waaay too over the top(that's what stupid Sammy always used to tell her she was acting like anyway) but it didn't bother her in the least. She felt that she had a connection with Cleo. A deep friendship, like their souls had always been bffls, but they had only just met to make it happen in real life. Cleo listened closely to Becky’s rapid chatter, going from one topic to the next in what felt like milliseconds. The girl certainly had a lot to say. Cleo smiled distractedly, closing her eyes a little and looking down. She could remember when she’d been a chatterbox, back in Los Angeles. She was so sure the women at the nail salon or hair parlor hated her for it. Or was it the other way around? Nail parlor and hair salon? Cleo shrugged it off; it didn’t matter. Music. Cleo wondered briefly what if would be like if she were into music. What instrument would she play? Maybe guitar. Or piano? Piano was pretty. Her mind seemed rather one-track right now and Cleo felt bad for not focusing on Becky more. She turned to the girl and put her hands on her hips, presenting an open friendly attitude. She hoped. That bit of Psychology was last semester (the first impressions bit).
“Mini-trumpets? That sounds absolutely darling!” Then again, any sort of mini-instrument would’ve been cute. In fact, anything mini-fied was cute. “I’m not sure if we have any here, but you could always ask. And if we don’t, you can put in a request! The administration is rather lenient.” Well, she thought so anyway. Maybe she just got away with more stuff because of her hair-twirling and eyelash-batting. Yeah. That was probably it. “Pink is pretty, though I’ve never heard it described like that.” Cleo smiled. “You’re clever, Becky, dear.” Last time she’d heard a girl say pink was the best color had also thought that Twilight was a good book. But it was probably best not to get into that because she didn’t know whether or not Becky liked the series. Oh, and Cleo was a hardcore Harry Potter fan so if Becky did like that nonsense vampire book, there’d probably be tension and… well. Cleo shook her head, realizing she’d gotten distracted again.
“Shall we continue the tour? You could probably sit in on a music composition class right about now. For a few minutes or so, if you wanted.”
