It was a good thing Janelle had a key to Emmaline’s apartment. It had been much too long since they’d had a sleepover, not to mention how long it’d been since they’d just spent time together. One of the reasons Janelle had moved to New York was to reunite with her sister. Though she missed England, she did not miss her gossiping sister or the familiarity of where she’d grown up. Somehow, Janelle much preferred all of the new things she’d experienced in New York, the places she’d been and the people she had met.
Her arms full with sleepover supplies, Janelle found it rather difficult to unlock the door. She’d had to set everything down to finally turn the doorknob. It was dark in the apartment and Janelle was glad she’d checked ahead to see what Emmaline would be doing right about now. Hopefully, she’d buy some junk food during her grocery shopping. Janelle had that covered mostly, with ice cream (which was probably melting) and chips. She clicked on the lights and looked around. She’d been in the apartment once before to catch up; it hadn’t been long because Janelle had had to get to work.
Deciding it was best to not strain herself, Janelle made a few trips to bring her things into the apartment. On the second stop, a young girl was watching curiously. Janelle smiled at her, hoping the girl wouldn’t think Janelle was breaking and entering or anything. “My sister and I are going to have a sleepover.” For a moment the girl did nothing, before smiling and shrugging, then skipping away down the hall. Kids. Janelle finished moving everything and she closed the door behind her, sighing in a satisfied sort of way.
She began to unpack, putting the ice cream in the freezer and the chips on the counter. Janelle quite liked Emmaline’s apartment. It was cozy and felt more at home than her dorm at Barrie did. Janelle unlocked the sliding glass door and pulled it open, wondering where Bennet was. Emmaline hadn’t taken him with her, had she? Were dogs even allowed in at the—“Ack!” Janelle found herself on the floor, Bennet having tackled her. Janelle laughed, doing her best to close the door with her foot while petting Bennet at the same time. “Hi there, sweetie. How are you? You remember me, yeah?”
words; 395 notes; i hope this is okay! :D

Emmaline had not been expecting company. She'd gone out to the grocery store, for her usual things, plus a couple extra boxes of tissues. She'd gone through a heck of a lot more lately, since she'd had that fight with Benson.
Bennet, however, absolutely adored the company he'd just received, pouncing on her with a bark of excitement. He completely doted on Janelle. She was second only to Emmaline in his book. He was busy attempting to lick every visible inch of skin on Janelle when Emmaline came in.
Emmaline jumped in surprise, dropping the bags of food and tissues at seeing Bennet practically smothering someone. A blonde someone. "Bennet!" A second glance revealed that blonde someone to be Emma's closest sister, both in age and relationship. "Janelle!" She moved across the room quickly, Bennet climbing off of her so that Emmaline could pull her up off the floor and into a hug, "Oh, where have you been? How's school? I really think you should stop living on campus and come stay with me..." She finally let her sister go and went to pick up her grocery bags, unpacking the food. Vegetables, fruits, and, of course, a bag of caramel apple pops- Emma's favorite.
She opened the bag of lollipops and unwrapped one for herself, holding another up for Janelle, "Want one?" She popped hers into her mouth then, moving to pour a bowl of food for Bennet. It was his supper time, after all.
