...personal*
personality Annabelle is your typical southern girl. She's sweet as a peach, can sometimes put her foot in her mouth, and has no problem getting her hands dirty. Her whole life she was brought up like a 'lady,' whatever that means. When she first meets a gent who takes her interest, she plays coy and shy, getting all blushy and whatnot. This, however is all an act.
Try though she might to distract herself from her urges, she is an intensely sexual girl, who has delusions of prudishness. She knows all about her feminine wiles, and she uses them to her advantage whether she tries to or not. She has tried time and time again to curb her behavior, but it seems as though she is driven by some kind of unknown force to use guys to get at what she wants.
Though she is young, she has already made the decision that she doesn't want kids. She's never felt that maternal instinct, and really doesn't want to bring any more people into the world than there already are. However, her southern upbringing has lent itself to one particular personality trait. She longs for, and desires nothing more than to be married.
past Annabelle Mae Turner was born to Lucinda Jean and Keith William right before the dissolution of their marriage. She grew up in two homes (well, trailers), and an only child. Her mother remarried once to a wealthy man and got single custody of Annabelle Mae before moving out of the little hick town of Winder, Georgia to Waynesboro, Tennessee.
Annabelle Mae's grandmother had always hated Keith Turner, and had shut Lucinda Jean out of her life (and will) the moment she had married him. When the divorce was final, she had decided that she would stamp out the no-account genes of Keith from her precious Annabelle Mae, and so, while her mother was busy being Mrs. Wade Rollins, Bella-Mae was stuck listening to her grandmother teach her how to be a lady. Grandmother Prescott lived in a sprawling estate in Waynesboro, and Bella-Mae grew up a bit spoiled.
She spent most of her childhood at the estate, and attended a posh all girls school at her grandmothers behest. The deprivation of boys only made Annabelle Mae wonder about them more, and she begged to go to a co-ed high school. Her grandmother conceded, worried about college, and Annabelle Mae was shipped off to a uniform-sporting prissy private school, which she hated, but spurred her interest in the medical field. When she announced she wanted to study to become a nurse, her grandmother about fell out of her chair. "What a career for a young woman! How are you going to find a husband with all that studying you'll have to do?" Bella-Mae was affronted by this, and informed her grandmother that she didn't want to have to depend on a man for her next meal. She'd find a husband who she would love, to avoid the messy process of divorce. Her grandmother was not very pleased by this, but still sends Bella-Mae checks every month to live in a fancy apartment instead of a dorm.
present She is currently an intern at Sacred Heart hospital, studying to become a nurse, and her sexual repression at the hands of her grandmother is now coming to an over boil. She's not particularly looking for a husband, but she entertains the affections of a few gents at a time, lamenting that she can't fully have them all. She is intrigued by Valko Wilhelm, who works the night shift at the blood bank, though she can't exactly say why.
Her days off are spent studying or shopping, blowing a large portion of Grandmother Prescott's monthly checks on clothes, shoes, and anything fashionable she can get her hot little hands on. She lives in a cheap apartment, that she has painted and redecorated to her own style, and when she writes home she...embellishes.

...literature*
book title Dracula, by Bram Stoker.
backstory A beautiful, lively and virtuous young woman, and the best friend of Mina Harker. Her sexual magnetism causes her to receive three marriage proposals in one day, from Seward, Morris and Holmwood. She accepts Holmwood and becomes his fiancée. Her lament that she cannot accept all three of her suitors is a sign of her fatal flaw: her openness to sexual desire. This leads to her becoming the first victim of the Count. As she loses her lifeblood to the Count, she becomes ill and is treated by Seward and Van Helsing. They cannot save her: she dies and becomes an Un-dead vampire. Lucy becomes a damned soul and a voracious sexual predator who tries to prey upon her fiancé. She also lures innocent children away so that she can feed off their blood, reversing the nurturing, maternal Victorian ideal of womanhood. Van Helsing helps Holmwood to accept that he must destroy the vampire Lucy. In a scene filled with violent sexual symbolism, Holmwood restores Lucy's soul to a state of peace by driving a stake through her heart and cutting off her head.
