...personal*
personality Jesse Parker can best be described as a prankster, willing to do most anything for a good laugh; he's almost constantly getting into some sort of trouble, whether it be with his peers or adults. Usually, his boyish charm can get him and whichever accomplice he may have at the moment out of any immediate trouble, although he never denies causing the problem in the first place. Jesse can come across as rather innocent, not caring to indulge in many of the rather questionable activites kids his age tend to get into. Because of his relatively friendly and joking demeanor, he's incredibly approachable, although definitely more so for males than females; for reasons unkown to him. He's aware that it may have something to do with his occasional lack of maturity, but simply brushes off the usual lack of a female in his presence.
The one thing he absolutely refuses to do, however, is work. When it doesn't involve a desirable result for him, anyway. Jesse can't stand "wasting his time" with something boring like that when there's possible fun to be had somewhere else. Along with work, Jesse despises authority. From parents to teachers to strangers, he often flat out refuses to acknowledge them, let alone listen to what they have to say; especially if it's an order of some sort. He believes in making his own rules, despising being anything but the leader of any group, be it a sports team or a group of friends.
However, it's not being in the lead he adores so much as simply calling the shots. Jesse lives for the thrill of any sort of come-from-behind victory, living off the high of winning against all odds. Because of this, he tends to persue things a bit out of his reach, from girls to gambling; he adores stacking the odds against himself and causing them to all come crashing down. Occasionaly, he's been known to lose such bets, but can almost always manage to shrug them off and move on to other things; he tends not to dwell on the past for too long.
past Jesse grew up in a very small town, with a single mother who simply wasn't around. Consequently, he didn't have much help growing up and had to learn to do things his own way, convincing himself that he didn't need anyone to take care of him. To this day, he isn't quite sure what to do when someone shows an abnormal amount of compassion towards him; it makes him slightly uncomfortable. His mother sent him to New York for high school rather suddenly, stating to his face that he came with "too much baggage," as she enrolled him. Not that he minded too much, anyway; New York was simply an oppertunity to get as far away from her and that small town as possible. New York had potentional for adventure.
Even as a young kid, Jesse was rather popular around the playground at school, although he never brought any of his friends home with him. Due to all the time he spent alone, Jesse created many different ideas about the world, many of them nto so good. He learned to hide these feelings behind the charm, however, burying them so far back in his head they are now nearly forgotten.
presentCurrently, Jesse still flat out refuses to speak to his mother, and he's made absolutely no attempt to contact his biological father. Instead, he pretends as if neither one of them exists. On occasion, he's even been known to flat out lie and tell someone that he's an orphan. He prefers to live by his own means during the summer when everyone else is back home. During the school year, he resides at Baum; it's a miracle he can stay though, as he almost never does his homework, and quite often skips classes.
He's pretty much fallen in love with New York and all that it has to offer. Visiting somewhere new almost every weekend, it's hard to find him in the same place twice. The one place he adores, however, is Hyde Park. Jesse makes a point to frequent it at least once a week, enjoying the amount of nature he can find there. He considers it somewhat of a safe haven from anything and everything. On the other hand, he still hasn't been all that close to the docks, seeing as he inexplicably feels like puking every time he thinks of fish.

Looking down at the two beat up leather suitcases he was carrying, the boy's shoulders slumped at least an inch in defeat. Crumpling up the paper in his palm, his jaw clenched tightly as he looked back up to take in his surroundings. The picture on the paper clearly showed a school; large, and completley unmistakable to even the most oblivious passer-by. Yet, all he could see were bright, neon lights atop stores, and buildings towering so high above him you would have to be able to fly to see the tops. People rushed past him every which way, not giving him so much as a second glance. Not that he minded; most of them were adults anyway, and wouldn't be any help to him.
"Well, now what..." the boy mumbled. Sitting down once again on the cold bench inside the bus stop's tiny enclosed space, Jesse Parker rubbed his face between his hands, not quite sure what to do. He'd never been this far from home before; never seen so many strangers in one place. It wasn't that he was scared to be completely and utterly alone, however. No, it wasn't that by any means. Jesse was simply used to knowing exactly where he was going and what he was doing at all times, because no one planned out his life for him. He didn't need anyone to; didn't want them to either.
Suddenly, a wave of confidence washing over him, the boy stood up. Smoothing out the wad of paper within his hand, he took one last look at the picture, picked up his suitcases, and began heading in the first direction that came to mind: right.
