personality When you think teenager dying, you either think really angry or someone who is totally zen, at peace with their condition. David is one of those guys who will make jokes about his disease, but it'll mostly be about how stupid and wrong you are. He's the angry kind. He's not actually stupid angry, he's just...I-don't-care angry. How people are really in the inside, making snarky comments when someone says something. Except he'll actually say it. He has no filter, and if he does, he doesn't use it.
David is surprisingly kind. He'll help someone cross the road if they need help. He'll help a freshman find their way through the halls. He'll stop bullies. David believes he has to do the right thing, because it not only makes up for what an ass he is, but because it's right. He's not doing it for that golden ticket to the sky either. No, he thinks that's all religious crap.
David is going to live his life to the fullest, now that he's officially dying, so he's a dare-devil. He has a whole bunch of things he would like to do before he dies, so he has to have the guts to do it. Even if he just sees something cool on the street he'll do it. No more denying himself anything because it could be dangerous or stupid. He just jumps.
David is also smarter then you and your parents, and he knows it.
past David was born to two extremely healthy parents. They had always wanted a child and now that they had one, were extremely happy. They did all the normal things, nothing crazy. He was an extremely happy child, all giggles and smiles and babbling. When he was six, his parents tried for another baby. They failed and failed and failed. Finally, they adopted a girl. She was a chubby Korean girl named Catie. She was extremely loved.
Around ten, David started to show some unhealthy signs. He was always coughing and sneezing, sleeping much later then normal kids his age. His parents were concerned, but Catie was still young and a big diva. He was constantly at the doctors, and finally they looked into specialists. It turns out David had a bad, rare disease, they found out after many doctors.
They tried everything. Anything to get their little boy back. They lied to David, though, saying he would get better and that he was alright. He believed them, and slowly he got better. At fourteen, a doctor pulled David aside and told him the truth. He was horribly sick, and didn't have much longer to live. Ten years, tops. David went back to school then, doing anything to get out of the house, out of the morbid truth of his parents lies. He found a way he could get away, farther. A school, one he was very much qualified to go to. With a small talk to his grandfather in North Jersey, David was backed up with money and heading to New York the following year. His parents wouldn't stop him.
present David has spent four years fighting for his life at his new school. He's an absolutely brilliant kid. This school had made his life easier. If he has to miss school, he just has to make up the work. If he's too tired to go, he just has to do the work.
For the first two years, David was a saint. Teachers loved him. Junior year was a hard year, he missed a lot of school...But this year he's letting all hell loose. Most of the teachers hate him. He says the obvious, challenges their status and intelligence, and has spent a lot of time in detention.
David has also made a list of things he wants to do before he dies. A Bucket List, it could be called. Nothing will stop him from completing this list, even the wacky things.
