...personal*
personality In most aspects, Henry is quite a dope.
Math, science, social studies, English…he’s never been good at any of ‘em. It takes a lot of effort just for him to pass, and he needs constant guidance along the way. But people don’t mind helping him. He’s willing to work hard and his lopsided smile can pretty much charm them in a split second.
Henry may not be the brightest crayon in the box…but he darn sure is one of the sweetest! He’s one of the friendliest guys you’ll ever meet, and also the most caring. One of his only issues is that he trusts people too easily, because he’s naive and gullible. If you're nice to him and you can make him laugh, he'll trust you. He doesn’t like to think that there’s evil in the world, so he just overlooks it. Therefore, people tend to take advantage of his good nature.
Henry is also extremely optimistic. He always sees the good side of a situation, and can sometimes be annoyingly energetic and happy. All in all though, he's a total sweetie and it's very hard to get mad at him.
pastHenry was born in Austin, Texas on a nice little farm in a big happy family. He wasn’t the brightest kid on the block, but he was definitely the most easily intrigued. He loved being outside and exploring and he actually got joy out of doing chores. He was homeschooled all through elementary and middle school. His mother and father were loving, but not very educated, teaching him more about the skills of life than about the math and science the state was requiring.
Henry’s life didn’t start to take a turn for the worst until he was 13.
He was minding his own business, sitting on some hay and humming happily as he usually did each morning, when all of a sudden he smelled smoke. Before he knew it, the entire barn had gone up in flames. Some way he still couldn’t fathom, everyone made it out of the house alive. Except for some scarring burns on his leg, the only other evidence of the event were the scars on his soul. Henry has been absolutely and utterly terrified of fire ever since then.
Of course, after the fire, the barn was completely demolished. His family really had nowhere to go, and they realized that maybe the little countryside wasn’t exactly where they should be living. When Henry was 14, his family moved to New York City.
Can you say, culture shock?
Henry was absolutely horrified. The busy streets, all those damn lights, and this big, huge school with all these people…he hadn’t even realized that this much life existed. Instantly, his life turned around. He learned what it felt like to be yelled at, to have expectations, to sit in a classroom filled with adolescents other than his siblings. He was bullied, teachers hated him, and worst of all, he failed every single class. Most kids would have been at the verge of suicide by then- but not Henry. He still worked as hard as he could to reach the expectations---still failing but trying his best. Of course, it didn’t do much good. He had to repeat his freshmen year twice, and even after that, got D’s in every class.
present Henry is currently seventeen years old, and while other kids his age are rocking the school as seniors, he's still just a lowly sophmore, struggling to keep his grades in line. School is pretty much the lowest point of his life, and now to his dismay, he has to live there. His family is still just as loving and tries to keep in contact with him, but he's so busy trying not to fail, it's difficult. He has a magnetic personality though, and hopefully that will start to get him some friends.
Henry tries to keep up with lessons at school, but honestly, the whole thing hurts his brain. He'd much rather be outside, running around, than have to sit in a classroom and listen to some teacher talk. He does want to learn though, and despite the fact that he always looks on the bright side of life, he wishes he could be smart and normal like everybody else.
