personality Ezperanza is robust and outgoing. An incurable optimist, she is devoted to her little store. She thoroughly enjoys interaction with other people.
Flitting around her store like a moth around a light, Ezperanza is always trying to make sure everything in her store is running smoothly, all the customers satisfied. She never takes a break from what she is doing except to sleep and eat (and even not really then because she's always serving and preparing). Also, she strives to be eternally cheerful.
Just watch out if you purposefully do anything to jeapordize the perfection of her store.
past
For generations, the little shop in the center of old town was the pride and joy of the Montoya family. This was no different with Ezperanza, who started to help with the store at a very young age, and began to really become an actual employee at 15.
Learning how to cook traditional New Mexican foods from her wizened mother came easily to Ezperanza. No harder was learning Spanish in her household where it was nearly a first language. Needless to say, she took to both like a duck to water.
Ezperanza raised her four children much the same as she herself was raised- teaching them to cook, run the store, speak Español, etc. Then one day, out of the blue, her husband died of a heart attack at 55. (Of course, her chilren were already grown-ups by then.)
This jolted her out of her daydream life where everything followed just the same as before and into the present.
present After her husband died, Ezperanza changed her name back to her amiden name, much to the dismay of many family members.
Then, she decided to change the family business- expand it; make itbigger. So she packed up her bags and went to NYC to start a branch there. She is currently residing in The Jacob's apartment complex, spending most of her time at the new branch to try to keep it afloat.
