...personal*
personality Sophia is moody and edgy, an obvious sign that she had an unpleasant life in the past. Even though she's a bit grumpy, Sophia is intelligent and does well keeping her grades high. She has been described as the quiet, bookworm type; minus much of the quiet. Despite her size and build, she can be scary with her quick tongue and clever mind. She has a dark demeanor to fit her attitude, even though she can be tenderhearted at times. Even if she's edgy, Sophia is often wise and is good at giving advice to people who have the courage to ask for it.
Sophia's incredibly strong-willed and stubborn, and will try to continue an argument until she wins, even if she knows she's wrong. She is polite most of the time, and tries to keep herself in line. She's more than likely to have a fistfight with someone bigger and stronger than her, (even if she knows she'll lose, which is also more than likely), if she doesn't restrain herself. She'll sometimes even ignore a person altogether in order to avoid getting bothered. Sophia will hold a grudge for much longer then needed and she isn't the quickest to apologize. She's a difficult and frustrating person when it comes to arguments and debates.
Sophia rarely smiles or laughs, nor shows fear; though she has plenty of fears, such as large animals and deep waters. Whenever she accidentally cuts herself, she seems to not care. She'll simply glance at it, cringe at the pain, and say, “Oh, look, I'm bleeding. Anybody have a band-aid?”
Some people will find her reaction incredibly funny, but she doesn't understand why. Sophia believes she's doomed to have bad luck all her life, and thinks that her fate is not a bright, promising one. Her attitude puzzles most people that meet her, and they'll often think of her as boring and unkind. Even if this is true, she has a soft spot for young children, and any person that manages to earn her friendship is held very close and dear to her. Sadly, her demeanor makes it hard to make friends, so she has very few. This doesn't bother her much, because she has her own ways of entertaining and comforting herself.
When she was a little girl, she immersed herself in fairy tales, using them as an escape from her unhappy life. These stories have effected her in a way, giving her a small, childish part locked inside of her heart. This childish part of her is like a room that she can lock herself in, where she can think of whimsical things; is magic real? Would fairies ever visit someone like her? Do fantastical creatures hide somewhere in the world? This is the small part of her that contains those rare smiles and laughs, besides the scornful ones, that decide to escape when they hear merriment and joy, or when they decide that Sophia needs them. It is also where Sophia's enjoyment of young children comes from.
This is one of the few pleasant parts of Sophia. Alright, it might be the only pleasant part of Sophia. People have fairy tales to thank for this one bit of happiness and fun in Sophia, even if they never get to see it.
Sophia is uptight and hates pranks for the most part, though she will take part in them sometimes, since her clever mind and quick tongue come in handy. Even though Sophia is uptight and strict, she can be messy: leaving books on her bed after she's read them, forgetting to fold her clothes, and neglecting the dusting her dorm needs. She can be very tiring to live with, but why would she care? Sophia doesn't care about other peoples' opinions on her anymore, she's given up on trying to improve herself, besides keeping her temper in line. Sophia is tired of trying to meet other's expectations, like at her previous school. You might say that Sophia has gotten stuck, unwilling to try to climb out of the pit she's fallen into; and unwilling to ask anyone for help. She might not realize it, but Sophia is bitter because she's lonely and heartbroken. Why? Her past has a lot to do with her current state...
past Sophia grew up in Kansas with her mother and little sister. Her father was an alcoholic, and died in a car accident when Sophia was nine. Sophia didn't grieve much, since her father had never shown her or her sister much love. She grew up caring for her often-ill little sister, Emma, when her mother was busy trying to keep food on the table. Sophia enjoyed reading, and read many fairy tales and myths out loud to her little sister while passing the time until their mother came home. Sophia's mother was a journalist, writing for their local newspaper. Sophia went to a small grade school, where she had a few friends. Sophia did well in school, but never managed to skip a grade. Sophia never did well in sports, and was sometimes referred to as a “nerd”. She always frowned at this, but never tried to deny it.
When Sophia was around 16, her mother's career took off and she got the chance to start writing for the New York Times. Sophia's mother took this chance, and they packed up to move to New York City. Once there, Sophia's mother decided to send her girls to the best boarding school she could afford.
The one she chose was an advanced, strict school, with many rules. Sophia was actually content there! For a while, anyway; until her “bad luck” caught up to her. She had fallen in love with a boy that she had become friends with at the school. One day she spoke her thoughts aloud to him. Sadly, this boy was the kind of person who used people; and he spread rumors about Sophia all around the school. Sophia was made laughingstock and the subject of many practical jokes. Most of the students, and even a teacher or two, taunted and teased her. One day, she couldn't take the teasing anymore. During lunch, Sophia's temper got the better of her, and she attacked several other students; verbally and physically. Ultimately, she was expelled, and sent to another school, Frank L. Baum Academy. Her mother hoped Sophia would find a new life here. Sophia was heartbroken, because she was leaving her little sister behind at her previous school.

book title The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
backstory (Taken from Wikipedia, because I'm lazy)
The Wicked Witch of the West is the one witch in Oz whom the Wizard of Oz fears after the Wicked Witch of the East is destroyed. He managed to defeat her with simple magic tricks in spite of her making use of the Winged monkeys that she commands through the power of the "Golden Cap," for the second time. With the first command, she seized control of the Winkie Country in the western part of Oz, where the Wizard never ventures, considering himself quite vulnerable to her. When young Dorothy is dropped in Oz by a cyclone, The Wizard promises to help her return to her home in Kansas if she and her ragtag group of friends kill the Wicked Witch. Dorothy, the Scarecrow the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion journey toward her castle and are attacked by wolves, crows, bees, and her Winkie slaves. Dorothy and her companions defeat each threat, but are eventually subdued by her third and final permitted use of the Winged Monkeys. Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion are carried to the Wicked Witch's castle. However, The Wicked Witch cannot kill Dorothy because the girl is protected by the Good Witch of the North. She enslaves her and tries to force the Cowardly Lion into submission by starving him, though Dorothy sneaks him food. When she succeeds in stealing one silver shoe, by making Dorothy trip over an invisible bar, Dorothy angrily throws a bucket of water onto the Wicked Witch, which causes the Witch to melt.
