1. don't hate
Basically, if you’re mean to people, you’re not going to last very long on this site. So no being rude, using derogatory terms, insults, etc. This is a happy place!
2. don't plagiarize
Plagiarism is disrespectful to the author, the roleplayer, and shows us you can't commit to this site. So don't so it!
3. rated teen
So yes, mature topics can be written about, but don’t make it too explicit. Use your best judgment.
4. post with quality
It doesn’t really matter how much writing experience you have. As long as you’re active, and your posts are nice and detailed, you’ll be fine! Make sure your posts are least three paragraphs. These paragraphs need to have at least 6 to 7 sentences each. Also, make sure you post at least three times per month.
5. stay active
Making someone wait two weeks for a post without warning them ahead of extended absences is just disrespectful. We would like to instate a post minimum of three a month. That just means you need to have three in characters posts in any threads per month.Of course, everyone’s busy, so if you know you’re not going to be around for a while, make a post alerting everyone before you go, and if you don't make the requirement it will be disregarded. The post minimum is only for unexcused absences.
6. don't power play
Power playing means controlling a character in a post that isn’t your own. A character should only be controlled by its creator, unless the creator has given permission.
7. point of view
Only writing in third person is accepted here, so please don’t write in first person.
8. infinite characters
There's no character limit! However, you do have to be active with all your characters, so whether you have two or sixty five billion, they all need to have a plot, and they all need to be posting.
-- NEW RULE AS OF 6/23/11: New members need to have their first character active for at least two weeks before creating a new character. Your first character should have at least three active threads. There also needs to be a two week period between each new character you create.
9. image etiquette
Signatures cannot be large enough to stretch the page of the forum. That means nothing bigger than 500 pixels wide. Also, all profile pictures must be 150 x 200. If you cannot fix this for yourself, ask an admin. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in a devouring by Rebecca.
10. post order
post order is where the characters in a thread post in the same order over and over again. Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Make sure to respect and revere Post Order. It is your new boss.
11. characters
While we hope that people use the canon to reserve characters, we know that sometimes things can get complicated. In case of an instance where there's a dispute over a character, we'd like the canon to go to the person who reserved the character first. This person will then have two weeks to post their finished application. If this is not done in time, the character will be freed up.
12. activity
Well, we'll have activity checks every once in a while. We expect you to post in them with your character accounts. We also will require you to cite at least one active thread for each character when you are posting in them.
13. site wide events
We'll have many site-wide events throughout the course of the plot here at OUAC. We'd appreciate it if you could make sure to have at least one character in these plots. The point is to bring together all the characters!
