...personal*
personality Alice is a girl who won't take any crap from anyone. She will speak her mind, make enemies if she doesn't like you, but will be a very faithful friend if you treat her with the same respect she does to you. Though at first she may keep to herself, she can be a very outgoing person when you get to know her.
Curiosity is her biggest downfall. If something sparks her fancy, she will investigate it to the point of obsession. Alice does too have a snarky side, she has been known for snapping back at teachers and even her father, and commenting to herself or friends when she thinks something someone said was idiotic.
Recently she has developed a quiet side, falling back into her own little world and keeping to herself , finding escape in her own thoughts when things are particularly bugging her.
past
Alice was brought up in London, the daughter of an upper class woman, Sophie Cartrite and a New York stock trader, Stephen Graves. The marriage of the two was frowned on by her mother's family, seeing him as a flighty person, one who was more caught up in his work then with his family. They weren't entirely wrong either. A year after Alice was born, Stephen left for New York, leaving her with her mother.
Alice grew up with little influence from her father, and every bit of influence from her mother's noble family. Her Grandmother took most of the care after her mother, being a stern, commanding person who Alice probably got her strong personality from.
Her mother however would smooth the sharp edges left from Alice's Grandmother, treating Alice like a princess. Between the harsh care of her Grandmother, which she learned all the proper things an English lady should, and the calm fondling of her mother, Alice was a rather happy child. But it wasn't to last.
When Alice was 7 her mother fell ill and passed away. Alice was sent away to boarding school and thus became the harsh terror she was today. Upon her 18th birthday and the death of her grandmother, the last of her relatives, she was sent to New York to be with her father until she turned 21, thus inheriting the small fortune her mother and grandmother both left her.
Never being fond of her father for running out on her, Alice was reluctant, but getting away from the boarding and finishing schools would be a breath of fresh air, so she finally agreed.
present Alice has been living with her father in Manhattan. He has been trying to win her favor, having been very successful in his job and giving her gifts and trying hard to make her feel at home. Alice of course has been very cold to him, applying for a college in the area and staying out of his way as much as she can or wants. She has made it perfectly clear to him that she does not like him and is only here under duress.
Ever since she came to the states, she has been having strange dreams and they only proceed to get stranger. Although they are strange, she finds them fascinating and a good escape from the monotony and dregs of the world outside.

The lock clicked and the door to the penthouse opened. The sunset streamed through the large windows on the west side of the room. Pristine the room was, the blankets on the black leather couches were neatly folded and set just so. All of the books were put away and the kitchen was spotless. So was the life of a man who was never home. Alice let a soft sigh escape her lips as she stepped in, tossing her bag to the side of the room, buttons clinking against the marble floor. She liked it better this way, she didn't have to look at him. Oh she knew she was being harsh on the the 40 something aged man, but in truth she was bitter and blamed him for everything, having no one else to blame BUT him. She glanced at the clock, the ticking sound filling the bottom floor with a rhythmic ...tick....tock.....tick...tock... he wouldn't be home for hours, the closing bell didn't ring until 4:30, it gave her an hour.
She turned on the radio, cranking the music up and drowning out the deafening silence with something where the singer screamed inaudibly and the bass was heavy enough to shatter most windows. Alice smiled, turning for the fridge.
Sandwich in hand, glass of cold milk sitting on the the dark oak coffee table, minus a coaster, her stripe-socked feet resting beside it, Alice leaned back, looking out at the city below. Taking a bite, Alice closed her eyes, tapping a toe to the bass of the music. If she tried she could tolerate this new place. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad after all. She smiled.
