distinctive traits Gwen is a very nervous person, and has a habit of mixing up her words when she's agitated, or worse, late for something. Other distinctive traits would be her glaringly white hair and her eyes which look red in certain light, like a rabbit's.
...personal*
personality Gwen is pretty jumpy and nervous a lot of the time. Her eyes are nearly constantly widened in surprise of anxiety, and often she pulls her hands through her short hair to give her something to do while she freaks out. This results in very silly hair that sticks up in funny ways. She's a funny sort of a person.
What is it that makes her so nervous? She really can't say. She just worries about things, the small stuff that people are always telling you not to sweat. Gwen's a worrier. Maybe it's some screwy genetic trait.
But she doesn't always freak out over the little things. In fact, it takes a lot of things to pile up out of her control before she really starts to melt down. Otherwise, Gwen is perfectly content to do her school work, hang out with her friends, laugh, talk, blah blah blah. Really, Gwen is pretty normal, just kind of high strung sometimes.
That's something else. Gwen is a high maintenance job to take of. She's very demanding when she wants to be, and often doesn't stand to see reason. She's impatient and can get very cross very quickly. Gwen has a habit of thinking herself as maybe a little better than others, and isn't afraid to tell others when she needs their assistance. But she's also sweet and kind and can be curiously shy, modest and quiet. It's a very broad personality, but you'll figure her out once you get to know her.
past Gwen has lived in New York City all her life. Her parents only wanted one child, and weren't disappointed in the least when they found out they'd be having a daughter (I dunno, most one-kid families like sons.). They cooed and fawned over her, held her often, talked to her gently, all that good parenting stuff when she was little. Gwen lived not so much a pampered life as just a normal, clean, goody-goody life. If that makes sense.
Anyway, Gwen grew up to be a prim and proper little girl, as her parents were big on the whole "manners" thing. She took piano and trumpet (wtf?) lessons, learned proper etiquette and was always clean and presentable. When her parents took her precious little girl out, people loved her brilliant white hair and pretty brown eyes, her cute smile and overall elegance. She was a well-behaved child, right up until her middle school years.
Seventh grade came around, and Gwen became nervous, like any other preteen would be upon entering a new school. But Gwen was taking nervousness to whole new levels. She grew physically ill and shaky, lost weight, started talking nonsense. She couldn't string words together properly to make coherent sentences, and she developed a deep fear and respect for authority, like the guidance counselors and therapists her parents had begun to send her to. Gwen didn't transition very well into middle school, developing nervous habits that wold stay with her the rest of her life.
She finally calmed down a little in eighth grade, was able to make friends and lead a more normal life. She became a little obsessed with punctuality, though, and the legality of situations that require authority. Definitely not a leader in her preteen years, Gwen was more apt to follow the crowds. But she didn't want to be the center of attention, so that was okay with her.
Transitioning into high school took much the same toll on Gwen as middle school did, but worse, if possible. The idea of facing a boarding school, being away from her prim and proper parents for such long periods of time freaked her right the hell out, and for a girl who liked order and predictability, this was not helping things. She tried her best to maintain her past composure of eight grade, but a new habit of messing up her hair when she was nervous made people think her a touch weird.
Again.
Still, as with all else, time calmed her down. Gwen did manage to get through the first years of high school and by now, she's back to normal again. She laughs and jokes and hangs out with her friends like any normal human being, visits the people in her dorm hall, hell she even works up the courage to go to parties and school events. Go Gwen.
present Now that she's a senior in high school, Gwen is conflicted about two things. One, she's finally managed to get the whole "high school" thing under her belt enough for people to believe she's normal. But two, college is looming ahead of her soon, and she's only applied to one place. What if she doesn't get accepted? Worse, what if she does? Gwen doesn't think she'll be able to handle another huge change like that...
But she'll worry about that later. Right now, Gwen is concerned with furthering and excelling in her studies and having fun. She wants the most out of this high school experience before she's off to college. And what better way to spend those days than with your friends? Or trying to get that friend to notice you have the hugest crush on him ever?
One hall away, Gwen constantly wonders if Castel actually notices her and her feelings for him, or if he just considers her a friend. Because really, she wouldn't mind if he finally picked up on that little hint.
likes Punctuality
The color white
Cute little fans and gloves and pretty things
Having fun and not freaking out
Orange marmalade
dislikes Being late
The color red
Freaking out
Heights
Mixing up words when she's nervous
other notes I think the correlation between the White Rabbit and Gwen is pretty obvious, but I also wanted her to be able to be normal and actually interact with people. And I've always like the White Rabbit/Cheshire Cat pairing (even if I haven't asked Tomo yet...)
...literature*
book title Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
backstory The White Rabbit is the reason Alice falls into Wonderland in the first place. She follows him down the rabbit hole and into the room of doors, and her subsequent adventures are spent chasing after him and trying to get into the garden she spies through the little door.
At the end of the book, Alice finds him again in the court scene, where he acts as a sort of scribe to the Queen. Also, there's this whole scene where the rabbit mistakes Alice for his maid, Mary Anne, and then the whole bit where she gets stuck in his house and they call Bill the Lizard to get her out... It's all very weird and the rabbit is constantly stuttering and getting his words mixed up, hence Gwen's character.

rp sampleHecks yes.
Cory ran out of the guidance counselor's office with a grin plastered on his face, a class transfer pass clutched tightly in his fist. His hair stood up straight as he bolted down the corridors of Baum Academy, not bothering to listen as the hall monitors yelled for him to slow down. Really now, they'd used that line so often on him that it had begun to lose meaning. Even the hall monitors themselves told him off as a sort of formality--they weren't really going to do anything about him at this point.
Nevertheless... "CORY, WALK IN THE HALLWAYS!"
Yeah, yeah.
Cory wasn't about to walk right now. He'd just successfully weaseled his way out of his Foods 1 class, and switched into gym. Yeah, he took gym last semester, and he didn't need the credit. But who wants to take foods when you can take gym?! Not Cory, that was for sure. I mean, take a look at this kid. Hardly a moment to sit still, Cory was more apt to constant physical activity. That's why he took fencing after school everyday (as the Academy gave them free time), so he didn't drive everyone nuts with his fidgety-ness.
Even better? Cory found out that his best friend (Lucy) and worst enemy/roommate (Drake) were in this class.
Again. Hecks. Yes.
Cory burst through the door to the locker room, claimed a locker and changed into the back-up gym clothes that the coach kept in his office for people who forgot their uniforms (don't worry, they're washed after every class). Tomorrow he'd bring in his own uniform, but for now, back-ups it was. The locker room was empty by the time he arrived, so he changed alone, tossed his clothes haphazardly into his locker, locked it, and ran out into the gymnasium.
He grinned. Oh, to be in gym class for a whole 'nother semester! Cory handed his class transfer pass to the coach with a smile. The coach, already red-faced and in a sour mood only frowned further. "You're here again?" He growled, looking between Cory and the kid, Zack, that he had just finished dealing with. "I just got rid of you!"
"Yup!" Cory grinned impishly, hands on his hips and feet apart in a strong stance (think Peter Pan here, folks). "I'm in this class for the rest of the year!" Cory had the sudden to urge to crow like a rooster.
That was weird.
Coughing a little, Cory turned and found Lucy... talking to Drake? He cocked his head. November was there, too.
"Don't be a bitch just because Cory isn't here to leech onto. Because I'm sure that if he was in this class, you'd be too busy stalking him to even notice Drake, let alone talk to him."
"Hey. November, cool it." Cory walked over to their odd little trio, his brows pulled into a scowl. He hadn't heard what Lucy said to Drake, so he was inclined to defend her. Of course, if he had heard what she said to Drake, Cory probably would have backed her 110%. "She doesn't leech!" He continued indignantly. He didn't quite understand her implications behind the comment, though, and went on to comment that "She's never sucked my blood or anything." Again, Cory looked a little confused, but decided to shrug it off.
Besides, Drake was there to taunt, and that was always good fun.
Noticing the volleyball nets, Cory grinned slyly. "Think you can actually beat me this semester, Drake?" Cocky? Check. Cory could handle cocky. And arrogant. And attention-whore. "I'll go easy on yah." He pulled his hand behind his back, sticking the other one towards Drakes face, palm open. "Even things out, a little? What d'you say?"
