Springtime...The only time that Adrian actually ENJOYED being in New York City. He could take his boat, Serendipity, out on the open ocean and take a dip into the cool, fresh water. The Atlantic Ocean was a bit colder than the Pacific Ocean, but Adrian enjoyed cold water far more than cold wind. He had decided to keep Fishbowl closed for today and take his boat out for an all day excursion on the ocean. He was going to make today HIS day meant for total relaxation and sun bathing. He'd enjoy every minute of the open water.
He had managed to find a pair of swim trunks that seemed to be buried under all his 'winter' clothes. He slid a pair of khaki cargo shorts over them and pulled on a loose sleeveless shirt. His flip flops smacked happily against the wooden docks as he made his way to his baby. He had an ice chest filled with drinks(nonalcoholic of course), chips(Sea Salt and Vinegar), and a few sweets(Cookies and mini cupcakes).
He was about to load up, when he noticed a girl swimming near the docks. He was curious to her spot for swimming, but water was water, right? He approached her with a friendly smile, until he recognized her. She was the red head from her Marine Biology class from last semester....What was her name? Clo...Claire...Cleo...YES "Cleo?" He asked cautiously.

Springtime was quite possibly the only time Cleo actually sort of liked New York. It would have been summer except she always remembered how perfect summer was in California so New York could hardly compare. The docks could hardly compare to the ocean, too. She needed a boat, for goodness sake. Or somebody she knew to have a boat and for them to like her enough to let her go with them on some boating adventure or something. Ah, why was she trying to think when she was swimming? She needed to just enjoy this. She needed to appreciate that this wasn’t a pool, so she couldn’t hit her head on the walls and she could swim as far as she liked without any boundaries to stop her. So what if it wasn’t the best condition of water?
Cleo had started to make her way back to the dock when somebody called her name. Cleo blinked the water from her eyes and looked around for whoever it was. Oh! He was familiar… Hrmm… Cleo decided it was better to get out of the water before trying to make conversation. Plus, it gave her time to remember his name. They’d been in Marine Biology together, though they hadn’t talked much. Taking hold of the ladder, Cleo started to climb up, when she remembered her name. “Adrian!” she exclaimed, mostly to herself. “Hello,” she added a little sheepishly, grabbing her towel. Cleo fluffed her hair a little, smiling at him. “What’re you doing out here?” It seemed a strange place for anybody to be, really, unless they had a boat. It was probably really strange that she’d been swimming in this water. Oh well. Wait… unless they had a boat. “Do you have a boat?” she asked suddenly, her curiosity getting the best of her.

Adrian smiled a bit as Cleo recognized him, well they both left some minor impression on the other. Fate must have been knocking at Adrian's doorstep because he caught Cleo outside of class and on a nice Spring day while he was on his way to take his boat out. Cleo was gorgeous, even though Adrian never dated a ginger before, she seemed to be filled with a soul. Her smile was just so contagious that it made Adrian smile a bit harder. "Well, I.." He was caught off by Cleo asking if he owned a boat, which he was just about to state. "Yep. She is my baby and my only REAL connection to California, well aside for my restaurant. But, I...well, you could join me on a little ocean excursion. I love to swim out in the open ocean, and not in close to the shore line." Adrian stated as he gestured out into the calm, clear water only a few miles out. He wasn't sure if his offer would freak Clep out, or if she'd jump the gun to go on the boat. He had a fifty shot and creeping a girl out or swooning her slightly. He felt a bit nervous about the two possibilities. Damn, he never got nervous.

Another thing she missed about California was getting out of the water and being able to go without shivering. It was always dry and warm there, whereas New York was somehow constantly chilly and humid. Maybe she was just making it up, trying to find excuses to blame the city on her misfortunes. Cleo wrapped the towel around her tighter, cursing the weather. Wait, California? Cleo really needed to get to know her classmates. Usually, when she met somebody else from California, they were obnoxious and annoying and she was always disappointed to find yet another Californian that she couldn't be friends with. Really, though, it would be a good idea to get to know Adrian better. "Are you from California?" She asked, half already knowing the answer, half double checking. If he was from California, and he owned a boat, he was definitely already going to be one of her best friends. (She had too many best friends. Weren't you only supposed to have, like, one? Wow, she had totally broken that rule).
Cleo grabbed her bag from the dock, rummaging around for her sundress. She most definitely was up for an ocean excursion. How ironic was it that she had just been thinking of that? Was it ironic? Maybe not. It was awesome and convenient, though. Cleo glanced at him, realizing she'd neglected to ask a question. "And you have a restaurant?" Cleo laughed a little. "You've got your life all figured out, don't you?" Finally finding the dress, Cleo set the towel on her head and slipped into the dress. She loved wearing dresses. They were all flowy and spinny and they could be such pretty colors. Hers was just a pretty dark blue with spaghetti straps and it was really soft and comfortable and-- "Oh! Soooo... I can go with you?" She asked suddenly, realizing he'd invited her. "Because that would be totally amazing." It would be swimming in the actual ocean. Ahhh, she was so excited!

Adrian's eyes drifted a bit over Cleo's glistening skin and he had to forcibly avert his eyes to some flying bird in the distance. "Yeah. San Diego...Imissitsomuch..." He spoke, but the end he let drift into the lite breeze in a low mumbled voice. California seemed only like a vague, distant memory and the idea of not returning only seemed to haunt Adrian more and more. However, today was a day to forget about that, and just escape from New York for a few hours. Adrian's mind was twirling with happy thoughts about swimming, when Cleo interrupted his thoughts. "Yeah... A small sub-sandwich resturant called 'The Fishbowl.'" Adrian laughed a bit with Cleo after her second question. "Marine Biologist enjoying the water and well, life in general... I am pretty set." Adrian smiled happily as he pictured himself in the future.
His mind went back to reality as his eyes drifted over Cleo's body as she slipped into the dress. It was like some slo-mo dressing scene during a movie and Adrian was seeing it in person. He felt his cheeks grow flushed red as he quickly averted his eyes to his boat. "Well, of course. I love having company." Adrian grabbed Cleo's hand as he led her to his boat and stepped into it. "I am exciting... I've been waiting all week for this." Adrian's voice held a notice tone of excitment.

San Diego. She’d visited San Diego often enough. Sea World had been one of her absolute favorite amusement parks so she begged her mother and grandfather to take her at least once a year. There were the times where she’d just up and left with some friends, without a word to her guardians. That had never ended well, but it was always worth it. “I miss Los Angeles like no other.” She said, quite sure she missed LA more than he missed San Diego but she wasn’t going to say that out loud. Cleo tilted her head curiously. “Where is it?” And why had she never heard of it? Surely any placed called ‘The Fishbowl’ would be a place for her to regularly visit. Well… so long as they didn’t serve fish. That definitely wasn’t happening. She wouldn’t ask, though. Not yet. Maybe later. Oh well. Focus! Cleo nodded, slinging her bag over her shoulder. “Sounds like it. The only thing I have planned is to get back to California.” She made it sound as if that were the most obvious thing in the world. It probably wasn’t to some people, though…
Oh, good! She was worried it had been a pity invite or something. He seemed excited, though, which was reassuring. He took hold of her hand and led the way. Oh, it was a lovely boat. She’d been on one a few times, all in California. They’d had wonderful rides on glass bottom boats to see the ocean floor. Those had been one of her favorite past times. “Do you have company often?” Cleo asked, meaning no offense with the question and hardly thinking it could be offensive. It probably could’ve sounded a little rude but that went right over her head. She stepped onto the boat carefully, still a tiny paranoid. While she didn’t mind falling into the water, she did mind the possibility of hitting her head and just ruining the entire day. That would be awful. She stood a little awkwardly for a moment before wandering around, exploring. It’d been quite awhile since she’d been on a boat. “I’m glad you invited me.” She smiled at him, before leaning against the bow, peering out to the horizon. The water looked much prettier way out there.

Los Angeles. Well, she definitely didn't seem like a girl from California, but honestly, that was a compliment. She didn't have the stereotypical bitch attitude with bleach blond hair and breast implants. Not that she needed those things, because she was easy on the eyes and Adrian admired that about her. Shit he was staring again. Adrian smiled a bit before looking away. "Near Central Park. We are a bar and grill with a beach-y theme. Much like the ones you see on boardwalk on the beaches of California." Adrian laughed at himself and his seemingly obsessive nature over is home, but he was proud to love California, wholeheartedly. Adrian looked at Cleo with a quirked brow, "You too? New York is fun, sort of, but I can't wait to get back to California." Adrian's mind again went back to California and how much he missed his old friends, who were the ones that practically begged him to stay and told him New York would suck. However, Adrian needed to experience it for himself, so here he was. Experiencing New York.
Adrian was getting his boat ready for launch when Cleo asked if he had company often, which could have meant two things: that he enjoyed taking people out or that he was a whore who took girl's out as if to woo them. Adrian did a little of both, hell, he wasn't ashamed. "Nah," he lied, "It's a special treat to come on my baby." She shot her a wink as she seemed to have difficulties getting into the boat. Adrian muffled laughter as she looked like she was going to fall over board and hurt herself somehow. "Glad you accepted." Adrian smiled as he untied his boat from the docks. "Ready?" He asked as he untied then shifted the sail and it caught wind and took them out to sea.

No wonder she’d never heard of the place. Cleo did her very best to avoid Central Park. She rather hated that stupid park, with its winding pathways and easy-to-get-lost—well, she just hated it and that was all that mattered! But just because she hated Central Park didn’t mean she needed to hate the Fishbowl. Besides, if it had a beach theme, how could she hate it? It was probably like a nice slice of California. There was no way she couldn’t go now. “I’m definitely going to have to go someday.” She said with a determined nod. Then maybe it would be one of her regular visits, just like Gingey’s. (She actually still needed to stop by Gingey’s sometime today. Her mother was positively dying for a raspberry Danish). “To each their own, I suppose. I don’t find it fun in the slightest.” In fact, Cleo couldn’t help but to notice how discontented she sounded just talking about New York.
Somehow, being on a boat was unnerving and exciting at the same time. It’d been so long since she’d last been, she couldn’t help but to feel a little worried. At the same time, though, she kept remembering that she was actually going out to sea where she could legit swim in the ocean. Instead of the water at the docks which would never be the same, of course. Nothing was ever the same as the ocean. It wouldn’t be the same as the beach, though. Nothing beat the beach. … What was taking her so long to get her California money, anyway? Shaking her head, Cleo sat down carefully on the bench sort of thing, folding one leg beneath her. “Oh.” Well, in that case, she was honored. Then again, she did sort of know him. “Ready!” Cleo exclaimed, sitting up more so she could see the ocean ahead of her.
