...appearance*
hair color Black/Dark Brown
eye color Brown
build Thin, slightly muscular
height 6'1"
clothing style Max likes to look laid back, like he doesn't think about what he wears, but somehow his t-shirts always go with his shoes, and he never wears anything remotely dorky. Generally, his wardrobe consists of t-shirts and flannels - only worn unbuttoned and over a t-shirt, of course - and jeans. He has the occasional sweatshirt, and this one leather jacket that he wears when he wants to look really cool. He only has a few pairs of shoes: a pair of those big, colorful sneakers, a pair of dress shoes, black torn up converse, and cleats for football.
distinctive traits Max has a long, ugly scar on his back that he doesn't remember getting. When people see it, he tells them that he was in a fight and someone attacked him from behind. He thinks that it's probably from when he was a child, before the accident and his Amnesia.
...personal*
personality Max likes people to think that he knows more than they do. It always makes people want to know more about him when he walks around with confidence, like everyone should look up to him. He's relatively popular and well-rounded, and despite his overly confident appearance, he tries to be friendly. He likes being around people, and having friends that he can joke around with and have fun.
When people aren't friendly back to him, he always gets just a bit put-off. Max is sensitive about things like that, when people don't like him, because he worries that maybe his birth parents abandoned him on purpose, because they didn't like him, or because he wasn't good enough for them. Thoughts like this also make him want to impress people. Despite his relaxed look, he is a hard worker. Max always does his best in everything so he can show everyone that he really is a good person, but mostly to make sure his parents are proud of him and never regret adopting him.
That's not something he would just tell anyone, though. Although he is friendly and kind, he still wants everyone to think that he is at least mildly tough and strong. Well, they know he's strong, I mean, psh, he's on football. But yeah, he likes being the one that people look up to, even if it requires a few white lies.
past
Max was born in a small town in India, as the adoption agency told his parents 11 years ago. When he was about five years old, there was a horrible accident in his village - either an explosion or just a huge fire - that devestated the whole town. His parents died in the accident, and apparently, that was when he got amnesia and lost all of his early childhood memories. Max couldn't remember anything about his birth parents or where he lived as a child. He even had a long, ropy scar on his back that he had no idea about, though he assumed he got it during the big accident.
Before being put into the orphanage, Max was in the hospital for a few weeks in a coma. There was no permanent damage from the accident, besides the amnesia. He had never had any trouble remembering anything that had happened since the accident. When he came out of a coma, Max was put into an orphanage, where he stayed for a year, watching other children get adopted. He had always been happy for the ones that were adopted, but was always a little bit hurt when someone came in and took one of his friends home and not him.
After being in the orphanage for about four months, a couple from New York came in. They had money, and couldn't have kids themselves, so they wanted to be good people and help out a poor little kid from India. Max tried to talk to them and be friendly like he did with anyone who came and visited the orphanage, and apparently they had liked him. They talked to the adoption agency and six months later, brought Max home to their apartment in New York City, bought him clothes and toys and gave him his own room and even a pet goldfish. He was the happiest he'd been since he'd come out of the coma.
Growing up, Max was always pretty happy. Sure, he had his down moments, but all in all, he'd always been grateful for what his parents did and he tried to show it by being kind to them and not doing anything too rebellious that would make them disappointed in him. He went to school in New York, and after finishing eighth grade, went to Baum Academy, the local boarding high school.
present Max is now a senior at Baum, and lives in the dorms there. He visits his parents on the weekends, of course, since they live so nearby. He never really gets homesick, because he's pretty much used to being away from his parents. And seriously, he doesn't go more than a few days without speaking to them.
Of course he loves his parents, but he also kind of wishes they'd give him a bit more freedom. Maybe not make him come home every weekend. He likes being at school, because that's where all his friends are. New York is such a big city, with so much to do, and he doesn't really want to spend all his time there sitting in his parents' living room. He doesn't want to hurt their feelings, though, so he tries to come home at least every other weekend.

rp sample "I'm Zirconium," she said, almost wincing. She was constantly wondering what the hell her parents had been thinking when they named her, or what drugs they'd been on. But it wasn't like her name was any more embarrassing than this poor kid's bullying episode, especially with the whole Team Edward thing. And eh, it was only a name. It was her own and if people didn't like it, screw them.
"What's your name?" she asked, hoping for his sake that it was something normal. If he was named something like Copernicus or Zebra she would be terrified for his safety at school even more than she was at present. And he was probably a nice guy, despite his strange appearance and the mask covering half his face. She always found it easier to talk to people like him, people who obviously were not popular and stuck up. It was easy to be herself around them, because she didn't care so much about what they thought.
The only problem was, Zirconium did care what the popular crowd thought, so she tended to try not to act too buddy-buddy with anyone that the entire school collectively herded into a corner of loneliness and social instability. This boy was definitely one of those people. But she just felt so bad for him, she couldn't just leave him lying on the floor.
And it wasn't like she had any sort of good reputation to keep up. No one really paid attention to her, she didn't have many friends. It would probably go unnoticed that this kid had found a friend in her.
