~Project Petit*
"Notre Dame doesn't have a police station, it is not 1,000 or so feet high. It was a public structure, very easy to access."
- Philippe Petit
Philippe Petit on Notre Dame cathedral, June 6th 1971.
In the 1970's, the most famous tightrope walker in America was probably Philippe Petit. Notorious for that stunt he pulled with the World Trade Center, Philippe did several, lesser-known wirewalks around the world - the first of them being the 'Notre Dame coup'.
The Notre Dame coup involved a tightrope between the two forward towers of Notre Dame de Paris, which he walked across back and forth for almost an hour before being arrested by local French police.
To this day, no one know exactly why Petit dared to do the Notre Dame walk (Or any of the other subsequent walks, for the matter) - he never gives a direct answer. But there's no doubt he spiced up life on that mundane Parisian morning, successfully made the world a more exciting place, and inspired many, many wirewalkers to come.
With a little help from anyone interested in defying the law, we're going to bring a little craziness to the solemn silence of St. Mary's Chapel in Downtown OUAC New York.
~The Project*
Project Petit is Philippe’s attempt to inject some humor into OUAC New York – but he can’t do it alone.
The St. Mary’s Cathedral is in downtown New York, and a structural dead-ringer for Paris’ Notre Dame. If Philippe could get a wire rigged between two of St. Mary’s towers, a good half of the New Yorker population will be watching that rope and the performers on it. And in that performance, be entertained, awed, and inspired.
Yes, you heard right - performers. Plural. You didn’t think Philippe’d be doing it by himself, did you? There’ll be more than one person on that tightrope – it might be a bit of a squeeze, but it’ll never be a one-man show.
The Project will be a long-term thing, with plotters meeting up here to discuss ideas or planning in-character on the role-playing boards.
~Current Status*
Although we have more than ten plotters, the Project will begin only after the Spring Fling. Plotters will be notified via PM whenever that'll be.
