nickname Lyla will do (no need to waste such a lovely new name), but she also answers to Scarlett if needs be, and how oh-so convenient that it happens to be her new middle name?
age 27
gender Female

hometown Washington, Georgia
sexuality Heterosexual
personification Scarlett O'Hara
status Awake.
face claim Alison Brie
...appearance*
hair color Black brown.
eye color Blue
build Thin, but curvy. Suffice to say she has a nice body, in common opinion.
height 5'11"
clothing style Extremely feminine, and usually high-end fashions grace Miss Lyla's wardrobe. It's arguable whether she even owns a pair of jeans or a simple t-shirt. In all reality, she does keep a few of those hideous items in case she doesn't want to dirty her actually nice clothes, but you will never see her out in public in just jeans-in-a-tshirt.
distinctive traits How she's not actually that beautiful, yet men seem to fawn over her. It's really more charm than anything. Also has a high-class Southern accent, if that makes sense. As in, she has the accent and proper grammar and I really don't know how to describe it any other way.
...personal*
personality As Lemony Snicket mentioned in his Series of Unfortunate Events, "first impressions are almost always wrong." This is true enough, for when you first lay eyes upon Lyla McPhee, she seems like a sweet girl, with her happy grin and smiling eyes; her voice sounds like high-class Southern honey. But if you look deeper, you'll detect a but of deception in her eyes, a falseness to her smile, a certain sugar coating to her voice that just screams "I'll say anything to get what I want." This is the true Lyla Scarlett, a charming, manipulative Southern belle. Most who see this think her intentions are for personal monetary gain, but that's not it. The only thing she truly cares about is her family's plantation back home. As long as she has enough money to sustain her home back at home, she is happy. And it's gotten so to the point where she has enough money to sustain bother her home and her lavish city life, so she's extremely happy.
Except.
Ever since Scarlett's taken over, she's been focused on something else. Finding Rhett. It's become an obsession ever since he walked out on her. Speaking of that, she can get a little disoreinted at times because her memories are all fucked up. There's Lyla's that mainly stay in the back of the mind, and Scarlett's. When she woke up in Lyla, to her it was the day after Rhett left her, even though it is now modern times. Scarlett mainly runs the show inside Lyla's head, but sometimes the less manipulative (but still just as heartless) Lyla comes out and shocks everyone. So she can be a bit flightly at times. Though Scarlett hardly ever let's Lyla do the talking with peers around, for fear of ruining the reputation she's worked her ass off to get.
Of course, Scarlett does take advantage of certain modern principles, having knowledge of these from Lyla's 18 years of memories before Scarlett awakened. Seduction is a favorite modern idea of hers. Though she has to say that women having less of a set role kind of bores her. Before, in her time, it shocked everybody that she distinguished herself from the concrete limits of a woman, which helped her along. The same wild things she did back then are considered almost standard behavior now. But still, she doesn't hold back from going beyond any limits she's given today, whether they're for a woman, a CEO, a widow, anything. She'll exceed whatever boundaries are placed around her.
It's safe to say that Scarlett it a bit vain, and thinks to highly of herself for her own good. That's something she has overlooked in her quest to right all the wrongs she caused, a fatal flaw that is not overlooked. It's not that she is beautiful or a genius or a prodigy, all of which are arguable, it's that she firmly believes she is all of those things still, even in this newfound form. And the fact that she believes she is all of these things makes her dangerous. Scarlett did murder someone to protect Tara, after all, why should the same principles not apply?
Though it is said that she learned what true love is at the end of the book, Scarlett will still marry and now seduce in order to get either what she wants or to where she wants to go. Of course, that all might just change once she finds Rhett, you never know.
past Lyla Scarlett McPhee was born on a farm in Georgia. It had once been a large plantation, but they had sold some of the land on the outskirts to make it family owned and operated. The big house made it easy to house all the 'workers', which were basically all of Lyla's cousins. It was ideal that Lyla would work on the farm, too, when she was old enough.
But no.
Lyla was immediatly favored by her mother because it was obvious she was going to be delicate from a young age, and Gabrielle wanted to spoil at least one of her daughters, since the two previous had turned into working girls and Lyla was to be her last child. While the other kids went out and played or worked in the hot Georgia sun, Lyla stayed either indoors or in the shade to protect her fair skin. And while she was indoors or in the shade, she was given everything she wanted. Her older sisters soon became jealous and wished to stay inside as well, but Gabrielle and Desmond wouldn't have it. Lyla was special to them, and that was made clear early on.
This certainly caused a bit of sibling rilvalry in the family, if by a bit you mean a whole lot. Lorraine, the eldest, started to actually hate her; while Lucy, the middle sister, only disliked her. Her cousins on the other hand, got along with her as well as they could. The family stayed together, as unlikely as it seemed, until Gabrielle McPhee was diagnosed with cancer.
The family was stricken with grief, especially Lyla and her father, but that grief wasn't nearly as painful as it was when she died a few months later. The doctors were unable to do anything about it. Lyla was 16.
After her mother's death, her father was unable to run the farm on his own, so Lyla stepped in and became a 'relayer of information' for him, though to be honest she put words in his mouth. He hardly ever came out of his room, and Lyla was the only one he allowed in there, or so she said. So it's safe to say that she learned about business from a young age.
Needless to say, her older siblings weren't too thrilled about their baby sister bossing them around. But they couldn't disrespect their mother by leaving, so they stayed.
As this all went down, the economy was steadily decreasing. They were raising taxes on her farm for no apparent reason and the family was struggling to get by. They had to postpone taxes for a while, begging for more time to raise whatever money they weren't going to get by the next deadline.
One day, nearly two years after her mother's death, someone decided to break into the house and steal whatever money and valuables they had. Lyla was a light sleeper, so she immediatly stood up and grabbed her shotgun. But the man wouldn't leave, and acted like he owned the place now. Lyla had never had to use the shotgun before and wasn't sure she could do it. As the man came closer, carrying his mother's jewelry of all things, a single thought commanded her.
Shoot him.
The others were out in the field, working, and apparently didn't hear anything. The closest neighbors were too far away. There was no way anyone could know about this. The family had enough trouble as it was. So Lyla, delicate but strong, dragged the man by his feet to the yard and buried him. It took hours, and by the time she got back inside she had to scrub the blood off the floor. Though it was easy to her now, because now she had done this before.
Scarlett O'Hara had been lurking inside Lyla ever since she was born, waiting for the perfect time to take control. Once she awakened, her memories and Lyla's meshed together. Lyla now had access to memories of fictional events that happened in Gone with the Wind, and Scarlett had a whole new knowledge of modern times. And now, she saw Tara in this little farm that was financially falling apart. She had to take a stand.
So Lyla packed up her things and moved to New York, looking for money and leaving the farm in the care of her aunts and uncles. Her sister Lorraine went with her, if for any reason but to get away from the hard work she hated yet had grown accustomed to.
While Lyla looked around for a job, Lorraine looked around for a man, and soon found one. He was CEO of a large company, making a whole lot of money and was interested in younger women such as the 20-year-old Lorraine. They were soon dating, not that that interested Lyla in the slightest.
As soon as Lyla found out who she was dating though, that all changed. Memories of Suellen and Frank came flooding in and success took over her vision. By that time, Lorraine and Gregory Hale were engaged, and that wouldn't do. Not at all.
So Lyla stepped in, using her newfound charm to win him over. Gregory soon broke off the engagment and proposed a new one. Lorraine was not aware of the reason at first, but once she found out, she left New York and went God knows where, infuriated and through with Lyla and her bull.
Lyla began employment at Mr. Hale's company, becoming his assistant and basically running the older man's life like she did her father's. The first day she started working there, rumors started floating around. The minute they found out she was the boss' wife, rumors spread like wildfire. It was unconventional and outlandish and just... wrong.
But Lyla didn't care, you see. All she saw was the exorbanent amounts of money she was making, the lavish apartment she was living in, and the fact that her home was provided for with the checks she sent them every week.
This continued for quite a few years, until Gregory Hale was shot and killed. He had been mugged, or so they say, but conveniently he had prepared a will in case of death. All of his money, and his company, to everyone's shock and slight devastation, went to Lyla. She was 25, which everyone thought was too young to run a company, and thus she was looked down upon for the first few months. Though honestly not much changed around the office except for an added air of tension.
One thing was for certain, Lyla Scarlett was able to run the company and run it well, and that was not about to change.
present Lyla currently resides in her apartment in the Ice Palace, loving her life and running Hale Inc. Though she is busy, she finds it ideal to go out on the weekends sometimes and have fun, for if she didn't, the stress of work would probably kill her.
Ha, who is she kidding, She loves running Hale, if only because it shocks everyone that she can do it so well and enjoy it too! The term 'pee green with envy' has crossed her mind a few times, though it is never spoken aloud for it would be slightly embarassing to say that in these times.
Though there is one thing that is missing. One thing that would make her life complete. Rhett. He had gotten away from her, and that simply wouldn't do. It's another day, and she will find him. No matter what it takes.
Meanwhile, she still sends checks to her family, still makes a lot of money, and still is loving the lavish freedom of city life.

book title Gone With The Wind
backstory wikie is very helpful regardless so here
Set pre/during the American Civil War, the rather long novel starts out with a description of Scarlett O'Hara, who is is "not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were." The Tarleton twins, Brent and Stuart, are with Scarlett on her porch at Tara, her family's plantation, eventually getting to talking about the upcoming war, which Scarlett thinks is boring. But Scarlett's interest perks up when Ashley Wilke's is mentioned; the twins telling him that he is officially announcing his engagement to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton, the next day at the BBQ. It's quite obviouis that everyone except the Stuart and Brent, who were totally smitten with her as most men were, that she is not pleased with this.
So the next day at said BBQ at Twelve Oaks, the Wilkes' plantation, she tells her that she loves him and he should marry her and blah blah blah, to which he basically says "lolz, i'm totes into you but i'm more like my cousin kthx". To which she basically replies "oh hell no" and says she hates him when really she doesn't. He leaves, and enter Rhett Butler, a man who's not popular with society like Scarlett, and who compliments her on her wiliness. She's totally embarrassed and yells at him, too.
Afterwards, she find out that the Civil War has started and all the menly-men are going to enlist, including Ashely and excluding Rhett. Out of spite and a need for revenge, she marries Charles Hamilton, Melanie's brother and one of the many men interested in her. Scarlett gets preggo before Charles leaves for the army. Two months later, he dies from measles. Measles. Making Scarlett a widow at sixteen. She gives birth to a boy, Wade Hampton Hamilton. But Scarlett is stilll in love with Ashely and is really only upset that she has to wear black.
Melanie, who is wither totally unaware that Scarlett is in love with her husband or just puts that aside, invites her to live with her in Atlanta with Melanie's Aunt Pittypat. Scarlett gets to sit around and mope while in fake mourning until a benefit dance for the Confederate army. Here she meets Rhett Butler again. To raise money, someone came up with the idea to have the men bid for the women they dance with. Rhett, bold as ever, apalls pretty much everyone by bidding for Mrs. Charles Hamilton. Melanie totally approves, though, and backs him up because it's a lot of money for the cause that Ashely is a part of.
During Christmas, Ashely is given leave to be with his family. Unfortunately, the South isn't doing too well war-wise. Later, Atlanta is under attack. Melanie, who is pregant and in labor, has no one to care for her excpet for Scarlett and her young hand-servant, Prissy. Neither of which really know anything about giving birth. Regardless, Melanie gives birth to Beauregard without issue, and Prissy goes off to find Rhett so they can GTFO and go to Tara. Rhett at first laughs, but Scarlett pitches a huge fit about wanting to go home to her mother, so he steals a horseand wagon and takes them to Tara. Well, almost. On the way there, Rhett suddenly gets a change of heart and ditches the chicks and Beau to go enlist in the army. Scarlett's all "fuck that" and goes back home to find that her poor mother died of fever and her father is insane. All the field slaves are gone.
In the movie, at least, Scarlett is in the field after finding out alll of this and is starving and says "....As God as my witness, I shall never be hungry again!"
After that, Scarlett and Melanie take that shit over and gets Tara up and running again since the war has ended. During this, some Yankee scum comes in and attempts to take her mother's jewelry. She then proceeds to shoot him in the face.
Soldiers start coming to Tara, and they take care of them. One of them is Ashely Wilkes, who stays on the plantation to work, seeing as Melanie lived there. Everything seems all fine and dandy until the taxes are raised on Tara.
Scarlett seeks out Rhett Butler, who is in a prison, hoping he can help out with money. He allows her to go on and on about what's going on, then tells her he doesn't have any money. What a prick. She leaves in huff, and on the way meets her sister Suellen's beau/fiance, Frank Kennedy, who has just started out running a store. Oh look, a perfect opportunity to get money. She tells him that Suellen doesn't want to marry him, which is a bullfaced lie, and charms him herself. He marries her two weeks later, then gives her the money to pay the taxes on Tara.
Frank gets sick, and Scarlett takes over his business for him while he's away. Which is not ladyike behavior at all. Luckily for Frank, Scarlett gets pregnant with baby number two, which kind of puts a stopper on that for a bit. With Melanie's help, she convinces Ashely to come to Atlanta and run the mill for her while she's in the family way. She soon gives birth to Ella Lorena Kennedy, another child she does not wantbecause it is not Ashely's. Meanwhile, criminal activity spikes and Scarlett keeps a gun on her at all times.
One day while coming home from the mill, she gets attacked by two robbers, but is saved by one of Tara's former field hands, Big Sam. Out for revenge, Frank along with KKK raid the shaty town. Frank is shot dead, and again Scarlett has to wear those atrocious mourning clothes. But this time, Scarlett is actually upset because she feels guilty, and is afraid she'll "die and go to hell". While drowning herself in brandy, Rhett shows up and asks her to marry him. She reluctantly agrees. Their marriage is the head of gossip in town. They spend ridiculous amounts of money on nice things and make a very lavish lifestyle for themselves.
Soon after they're married, they begin insulting each other, and eventually actually fighting. She had no idea why he married her in the first place, and with a whole lotta rage, she tells him that she's having his child, another unwanted baby. Eugenie Victoria is born, and with her pretty blue eyes, Melanie gives her the nickname Bonnie Blue. Now Scarlett was never the motherly type, but Rhett loved Bonnie more than anything else in the world.
Scarlett takes a trip to the mill a bit later to visit Ashley, afterwards thinking he is jealous of her and Rhett, so she tells Rhett she doesn't want anymore children, to the extent of sleeping in separate bedrooms.
Melanie plans a surprise birthday for Ashley. Scarlett is in charge of keeping Ashley at the mill until it's time for the party. They reminisce and Scarlett starts to cry, and Ashley holds her against him. India Wilkes, Ashley's sister who really fucking hates Scarlett, walks in on them, then goes to spread rumors about them. So before the party statrs, the thought of an adulterous relationship has poisioned the minds of the guests. Melanie refuses to believe this and stands by Scarlett, like the wonderful sister-in-law she is. India gets kicked out of the Wilkes home, probably not helping her hatred of Scarlett.
Rhett, on the other hand, has thought Scarlett stilll loved Ashley for yearts, and drank away this rumor. He returns a while after Scarlett that evening, drunk. They fight, then Rhett drags Scarlett upstairs and they have a very passionate evening.
The next morning, Rhett takes Bonnie and Prissy on a trip. Scarlett does miss him, and wonders if he really does love her. During the trip she finds out she's pregnant again.
When he returns, she waits for him at the top of the stairs, hoping for a kiss but not recieving one. He tells her she looks pale, and she tells him she's preggo. Rhett being the slight prick he is asks her if the baby is Ashley's. Scarlett insults him, and he says "Cheer up, maybe you'll have a miscarraige."YOU STUPID PRICK HOW COULD YOU JINX IT LIKE THATAt that, Scarlett lunges to attack him, but misses and falls down the stairs and miscarriages.
Rhett freaks out, thinking he killed her, when in all reailty he just killed the baby. Though it is the first time she's been legit sick. He admites to Melanie that he was being jealous and that he truly does love Scarlett. To heal, Scarlett takes her two older children to Tara to regain strength. When she gets back she sells the mills to Ashley and finds that Rhett changed a whole lot. Mellowed out, in a way.
Bonnie Blue Butler loved horseback-riding, but Mammy though it wasn't fittin' for a girl to not ride side-saddle, so Rhett buys Bonnie a Shetland Pony and teaches her to ride side-saddle. Though Bonnie takes an interest in jumping, like Scarlett's father, which is what ended up killing him. Bonnie makes Rhett raise the bar from one foot to one and a half feet.
When she comes to the bar, the pony stumbles and Bonnie Blue falls off, breaking her neck. Rhett and Scarlett's only child is dead.
Soon after, Melanie Wilkes dies. Rhett leaves Scarlett, deciding he can't deal with this shit anymore, and goes to Atlanta. It's then that Scarlett O'Hara realizes she loves him, but doesn't follow after him. "After all, tomorrow is another day."
