It had been a little over a month since Adeen and Rhys had patched things up. And by patched things up, that meant christening almost every surface of Rhys' home. Afterwards, things had been...better. There was still a little bit of tension at times, but they were trying to get through it. Adeen still smoked, but only cigarettes now. She needed some sort of vice, and it helped her stay calm when she would have a flashback of the withdrawls. Of course, her cigarettes were shown to Rhys on purchase, and he kept them. Hidden from her, and she'd have to ask when she wanted one. This idea, at first, had caused her to be very. Very irritated, and then she managed to see the reasoning behind it.
She had also been spending more time at Rhys' home than her own. She hadn't been ready to take the big step into letting go of her apartment, and moving in with Rhys. Then again, he hadn't really offered. But she was certain their two styles were completely different when it came to decorating, and for her to have to give up most of her rugs, and all of her furniture was a bit frightening. The psychologist said she was doing well from the detox, but because it was still more recent than it felt--nothing too shocking could happen. She had to be treated delicately, like a bomb ready to go off. Adeen was becomming more and more of her old self. Talkative with Rhys, quiet otherwise.
But lately, she hadn't been feeling so well. The psychologist also told them that it could just be her still trying to work it out of her system, and that her body was healing on the inside. Which was causing her sickness. She had taken to carrying a plush octopus Rhys had given her, around the house for comfort. She had been looking tired, because she hadn't been able to sleep well between puking, and feeling like she was going to. Today, she hadn't thrown up. But she still wasn't feeling her best. When she floated, she didn't twirl, and flip, and cross her legs, and move about like she was on an invisible couch. She floated like she was hanging by the back of her shirt. Legs just dangling, arms crossed over her chest holding onto Sigmund, and her chin pressed into his soft little head.
And currently, she was hovering in the kitchen, looking around. Looking like crap, and feeling like crap. Physically, and mentally. She didn't think she was being very much fun for Rhys, and part of her thought maybe she should go back to her apartment to wait the cold out. She scratched the back of her bare neck; her hair pulled up in a high bun to keep it out of the way if she rushed the bathroom again. She shook her head and sucked in a deep breath. She hadn't thrown up today, and compared to the other days, she was feeling damn well. She floated into the kitchen, forcing her body to be a little less limp. She set Sigmund ontop of the fridge, and pointed her fingers, as though silently telling him not to move.
She settled to her feet, and leaned over, starting to pull out frying pans and set them on the stove carefully, before wandering into the pantry. Rhys had been very good to her, and she didn't have much that she could share with him in grattitude. But she was going to attempt to make him lunch. Without burning down the building.

Paperwork would be the death of him.
Rhys shifted in his office chair, brow furrowed in grumpiness, and glared furiously at the stack of papers still left for him to address. He had been working since early that morning on the files that had somehow piled up on him in the past two days, and still had far too much work to do. Any other day and he wold have dispatched of them shortly, but today, Rhys was restless.
Adeen was upstairs. Alone.
Normally, it wouldn't have been much of a cause for worry. He hadn't known about her spiraling addiction, and so he would not have had a cause for worry. As it was, he knew now about the addiction, and the drawn out detox period was his present cause for concern.
Adeen had been sick lately, and it was doing nothing for his nerves. He'd neglected his post as head of Gingey's Inc. for the past few weeks ass he spent as much time as possible with his recovering girlfriend, but a frantic call from Candace had propelled him to the office early this morning. As irritated as he had been, it had shocked him to realize that his assistant's panic was a severe understatement. There were forms for every department that needed tending to, contracts that needed his attention and various other types of paper work that just wouldn't get done themselves, and that Candace did not have the authority to touch. It had shaken him to learn just how close to an all out crisis the company had slid, and so he had sequestered himself at his desk and worked with a vengeance.
Still, he'd rather be upstairs, cuddling his woman. Or holding her hair back as she made conversation with the little elves in the pearly white realm. He really didn't want to leave her alone, but if he didn't work, then they couldn't enjoy the life they sort of had together, could they?
Well, they probably could, but it was the principle of the thing.
Still, when the clock n his wall read 12:00 p.m., Rhys practically leapt from his chair and into the private lift that only went up one floor.
The doors opened on the wide open living area that merged the living and dining rooms with the kitchen, which was off to the right. Rhys didn't much care for these rooms at the moment, because all he wanted was to find Adeen and cuddle her and maybe persuade her to take up a post in his office while he worked. Not that he thought it would happen but a guy had to -
Smell food. Or, what would maybe be food in a bit. Rhys blinked, eyes finding and following the slim form of Adeen as she hovered about the kitchen. In front of the stove. Which was lit. And had a pan on it. He was caught between bemusement and a tiny wad of skepticism (she was unwell, after all) and pitying amusement at her less that happy appearance. She looked as if she should be in bed, wrapped up to the chin in blankets and being fed soup. By him.
Sidling up behind her, an act which called for much stealth, as he had to jump behind the couch and duck around some other furniture, Rhys wrapped an arm around Adeen's waist and pressed a kiss to the nape of her neck.
“I take this to mean you feel better, if you're making something to eat?”

The bacon was starting to sizzle in the pan, and she was meticulously pulling off leaves of lettuce, and cutting off the little white bit at the end. Nothing too grand, but a simple BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) for lunch. Good, light, and simple. And if Rhys wasn't here by the time she finished--she could always bring it down to--INSERT SCREAM HERE.
Adeen screamed, and popped right out of Rhys' arms, and pressed against the ceiling, heaving. She stared at Rhys with wide eyes, letting out a calmer breath, before slowly drifting down from the ceiling to wrap her arms around his shoulders, and nestle her head under his chin. "Yeah, I was making you lunch. Or trying to." She glanced over her shoulder, hearing a pop, before letting go of Rhys to flip over the bacon. "You eat BLTs, right? Wait---" She furrowed her brows, and stared him down. "Candace let you walk free at noon?" She snorted, and then chuckled, "You're gonna make her stress so bad she just starts poppin' those babies out."
Often, Adeen worried about Rhys. Between worrying over her, and his company--she was afraid he was getitng stretched too thin. Which was another reason she was still hanging onto her apartment. Because she felt like she had to remind him that she was a big girl, and could manage herself for a day or so, while he caught up on work. She had taken up bartending on some nights at the Sahara, which proved to be a fun escape. Rhys was important, but at times--she just needed music, people, and laughter that didn't include the Gingey's building or inhabitants. "I might go back to work tomorrow, since I'm feelin' a bit better. Plus, it'll be good to go out. Hopefully Jared won't have replaced me by then." She held a piece of extra lettuce out towards Rhys, after tearing off part of it and crunching down on it herself. Switching off the pan, she moved the bacon off the burner, and began slicing through the tomato.
"Don't...even. Think about it." Adeen turned suddenly, and was holding the knife, pointing her finger at Rhys. Or above Rhys. Where she was looking. Carpet was hovering above Rhys, with one tassel pulled back like he was going to swat his friend. The tassel twitched, which made Adeen's eyes get wider, her chin go up, and her brows lift--like a mother scholding a child. "I said no." She repeated, only to see Carpet swat at Rhys, and hide behind Sigmund. Adeen sighed, and dropped her head backwards, "I don't know how she's going to handle twins, and I can't even handle a magical Carpet." [/blockquote]

Rhys blinked, then tilted his head up, up, all the way up to gaze at the woman pressing herself against the ceiling. "Wow...I didn't think you could make it so high so fast." He was sort of sorry for scaring her like that, and when she sank back to arm level he gathered her close, and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"Oh, lunch for me, is it? Don't I feel special." He watched her flip bacon in his $72 dollar skillet, and grinned. "I'll only eat if we share it."
The mention of Candace made him wince, since Adeen was probably right. "It's not my fault I run a company she works for," he grumbled, glaring into space as he remembered the pile of paperwork waiting for him back in his office.
"Work?" He was honestly surprised. And more than a little against it. Oh, he was sure Adeen could handle herself, and if she started to feel bad she'd take a breather, he was sure. But...if she went to work at night that meant he'd be alone, with no one to cuddle. It went unsaid that he was worried she might, in a moment of weakness, trade one vice for another. "I don't think he'll replace you. Did you call him?" The lettuce was quickly nibbled on, much to his tastebuds' discomfort.
"Ow!" Rhys spun, sending a glare into the empty air. He growled, thinking that Adeen was lucky he liked her, or else carpet would be decorating....something. But not in a nice place. "One day I'm going to catch that rag and, I don't know, send him on a long vacation in the dryer or something."
He sidled up to the knife-wielding maiden, careful to point the blade in the other direction, and picked up a piece of bacon. "Maybe we could ditch him and run away to my office," he mused. "There's lots of bonfire fuel in there..."

"I'm making enough for both of us, ease down, Soldier." She smiled at him, added a few extra slices of bacon in the pan. "Actually, you hired her. So, it kinda is your fault. And yeah, I called Jared, he's okay with it but he can be a bit...scattered." Adeen glanced over her shoulder, and raised her brows at him with a teasing grin on her face. She glanced towards the place where Carpet was hiding in plain view, and shook her head. "He's already tiny, he'll shrink if you toss him in a drier. Feel free to pin him to a clothes line after giving him a very thorough rinse."
She turned back to cutting up the lettuce, before setting it in a bowl, and rinsed off the knife, then started on the tomatoe. "If you and I went into that office, you would not get any work done at all. And it would end with me feel even more sick, and you being behind on work. Again. Which would mean Candace eating you alive." She sliced through the tomatoe with ease, curling her fingers so the knife slid against her knuckles, shielding her fingers from behind sliced up.
"Plus, I've decided that I'm going to deprive you of sex until you get caught up." She grinned, perfect picture of innocence. "You get too energetic for it, then too tired, and you won't get any work done. And I don't need Candace to bitch at me for distracting you from work. I am not going to be the cause of your company getting run into the ground. I will take off again before I let that happen." She threatened, "Plus...when she goes on leave, you're gonna need a replacement for her, and things may not run as smoothly. So you need to get caught up, or that person is gonna quit on you."
