Sometimes Marley did stupid things. Like, for example...getting mad when her coffee wouldn't brew, only to realize that the machine wasn't plugged in. Or, that one time in Home Depot where she climbed up to the top to get a space heater, but couldn't figure out how to get back down. But this was the ultimate screw up; granted it happened to her a couple of other times, but this one seemed to hurt more. Mostly because the guy was such a jerk about it. Okay, so she had met this perfectly nice fellow at Walmart, right? He seemed like a grand guy, even thought her "ditzy" antics were adorable, and she went home with him.
It had been fun, it had been enjoyable. Only...when they woke up from the nap, he questioned as to why she was still in his home. Of course, Marley had thought this the beginning of a relatonship, so she hadn't minded staying at Greg's place, and getting to know him on a more mental level. Except, he didn't seem to like that idea, and proceeded to chase her out of his house. Claiming that she was dumb, and stupid, and that his girlfriend would be home any second. And all that jazz. So, as she does, Marley fled from the house, and was now perched on a bench downtown. She watched the neons flicker on, she watched people crowd at the club to go in, and she watched that orangey color in the sky turn black.
She wasn't sure how long she'd been sitting out there, or that her mascara was caked down her cheeks. Or that some people were giving her strange looks, because of the disaster she appeared to be. Sitting on the park bench, immobile, and hugging herself. A few people stopped to ask her if she was alright, and slightly spaced out--she just repeated what they said. It was nothing new, the name calling at least. But it hurt even more, lately. After her sisters walked away from her, after she was completely alone, and after she was trying to struggle to make new friends in the housing she lived in...the littlest comment hurt. Then again, Marley wasn't exactly emotionally matured, she still had the mentality of a child. Wanting the world to be right and perfect all the time without any meanness or name calling. Was that too hard to ask?
So outside she sat, listening to the dull thuds of the music wafting from outside the club. She wasn't really seeing it, or noticing it, her mind dwelling on what Greg had said to her. She bit down on her lip, and pulled the sleeve of her hoodie over her hand, and used it to wiped at her face, smearing her makeup even more. She sniffled, and looked down at the ground, wondering if her legs worked enough to get her up and back home. Because they were cold, and sort of numb. Her feet extremely numb, due to the fact she hadn't even had a chance to get her shoes on when she left. And the boots remained next to her, as though she didn't have the strength to get them back on her feet.
She should go home, really. But she didn't want to go home either, because there'd be no one there to greet her. Maybe she should get a pet or something. She frowned. "Nothing short of a narwhal would want to be my friend." She mumbled to herself, picking at her sleeve, resisting the urge to smack herself in the head. "Dumb Marls, dumbdumb." Wally just hadn't gotten to have his daily caffiene at the particular time he had to have it in order to stay awake so he can be PARTY MASTER, so whatevvs. He was perfectly fine with going home and chillin' out until tomorrow. Annoy that creepy dark guy who left at THE MOST random times and sometimes got visited by that nice blonde girl with the most ah-MAY-zing hair! Well... Wally didn't MEAN to annoy him... he was just trying to cheer him up, after all! But that didn't matter right now, because AWWWW THAT LADY OVER THERE WAS CRYING. He didn't like it when people cried, it made him sad too! So he walked over to the bench and listened to what she was saying.
"Nothing short of a narwhal would want to be my friend." She mumbled to herself, picking at her sleeve, resisting the urge to smack herself in the head. "Dumb Marls, dumbdumb."
Wally sat on the bench next to her. "You're not dumb! I'll be your friend, and I don't think I'm a narwhal..." He checked his nose area. "Nope, no narwhalage here! Cheer up!" He smiled, hoping that his Wallyocity at least started to make her feel better. But wait, what was wrong? Wally was generally a curious person, so he asked. "Who called you dumb, anyways? That wasn't very nice!" Wally made an angry/pouty face that made errybody laugh because it really didn't fit his face at all. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - LITTLE DARLING, I FEEL THAT ICE IS SLOWLY MELTING little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - notes; what about a delilake reference? tagged; MARLEY! lyrics; here comes the sun by the beatles listening to; what you're listening to by the group/musician who sings it word count; - - - /shrugs outfit; link for outfit here credit; to brooke from caution

Marley sniffed loudly when she realized someone had been listening to her. She turned her head to look at him with glassy, puffy brown eyes. Her nose was red, and her lips puffy and swollen in that weird way that crying could do to a person. She wrapped her arms around her a little tighter, and put her bare toes together trying to keep warm. Marley blinked those large eyes at him, "Narwhal." She repeated quietly, and shook her head. She tried to smile back, but she couldn't feel her face between the cold and the numbness from crying.
"I called myself dumb. But, so did Greg. Greg's mean." She said this like she had just come to this realization, her brows furrowing, before looking back at Wally with a look of wonder. Though after seeing his expression, her own relaxed and looked blank for a moment. Then her lips turned down, and scrunched back, and she snorted, trying to hold back a laugh. One hand uncoiled from her own waist, and clamped over her mouth. He looked funny with that face, and she could see the tell tale marks of smiling on his face. It suggested to her that this was a face unaccustomed to making that particular expression.
"You look funny. You should smile instead." Untamed curls bounced around her face while she nodded eagerly. "You are someone, right? Wait, of couse you are." She smacked her own forehead twice with her palm, and sighed, her lips moving to unspoken words. Quite possibly scolding herself again. She put her hands back in her lap, and pulled her sleeves over them, and looked back at Wally. "You are a nice someone."
