"We are not amused, Jiminy and I. Er, Jiminy, why are you looking at me like that? I didn't do anything!"
...basics*
name Jemissa Rowena Crocket. Yeah, her parents were attempting to be original.
nickname Jem, Izzie, whatever you can get from Jemissa except for the thing itself. She H A T E S her first name.
age 18.
gender Female, obviously.
grade Barrie Freshman.
hometown Trenton, Georgia.
sexuality Heterosexual
personification Jiminy Cricket.

...appearance*
hair color Black. Usually in gentle waves and just kept down.
eye color Brown.
build She's a bit small and thin, with long legs. Easy to see why she's the host of a cricket.
height 5'3". Like I said, small.
clothing style Kinda girly, kinda hip. Depends on the day, honestly. Well, not really. It depends more upon the mood she's in when she chooses what she's going to wear for the day.
distinctive traits She has tattoos on her arms done by one of her 'friends' back home that she doesn't remember getting, and she wears a lot of makeup. Oh, and the finely dressed cricket that follows her around or sits on her shoulder, if you can see such things.
...personal*
personality Jemissa's a bit... odd. For one, her weird accent makes everything she says difficult to understand.... audially? Yes, that is a word. And she's not exactly good at explaining things either... so people can easily take things the wrong way, or misunderstand her, which can either cause a funny memory or a bad, bad situation. Either way, it's something she's not fond of, but she can't change that about herself. (Jiminy makes fun of her too, which doesn't make things better, the hypocrite.)
She's also a bit eccentric in personality, as well. Jem's always a little loud since she's used to it, and the things she says aren't exactly the epitome of normal. Though, really, that's just because she tries to be happy all the time. Being happy helps, trust her. Even if you act happy, sometimes it makes you happier, unless of course the people around you don't go along with your hapiness, or your happiness isn't quite happy... well, anyways.
Jemissa does get frustrated, though, especially when people don't listen to her. This is either ignoring her or just plain not taking her advice. She usually knows what's right because she knows what's wrong, and that's all you really need to know. When she does get mad, she usually shuts everyone out and takes it out on everyone.
Jemissa and Jiminy Cricket usually get along well, apart from when they don't. Well, Jiminy causes it, really. He's a stubborn little cricket who really doesn't let Jemissa have a whole lotta fun, not to mention the fact he does some stuff behind her back that she doesn't know about.
past Jemissa was born into a simple, but odd situation. Her mother, Celia, had traveled here to America from England when she was a little girl, but later decided to move down south, where she met Sam Crocket. They got married and blah blah blah, out came Jemissa Rowena.
Now, there's a truth to small towns, one that everyone knows. No, it's not that it's impossible to keep a secret. That's practically common knowledge and doesn't really count when... anyways, the truth is that there is NOT much to do, like at all. The cinema showed movies that were already out on DVD, though the nearest DVD store was two counties over. There was no mall, no epecially decent internet connection, the grass in the park shriveled in the summer from Georgian heat, and only one person in the county had a pool. This person wasn't the nicest, but she was popular because she threw parties.
These parties were practically the only interesting thing that happened around town, and anything else intresting that happened surrounded or invovled these parties somehow. Louanna's pregnant? She met Tony at a party. Molly and Freddie are together? Well, they met at a party too. Kimmy and Steve broke up? Steve was hitting on Leanna at the party.
Jemissa's nearly overdosed on prescription drugs again?
They had practically all kinds at the last party.
Oh yes, Jemissa Crocket was infamous at the parties. She was always the loudest in the room, could handle the most alchohol, and tried all the drugs they had available. Her parents knew, of course, because this was a small town, but there was nothing they could do besides lock her in her room and bar the windows, but that was illegal. The cops didn't do much either, because before these parties started happening, they didn't have much to do, and that's how they liked it.
And one time, Jemissa maybe got a little too crazy. And her parents finally took a stand. It was a huge argument that ended in Jemissa packing a small bag and running away. She got pretty far too, considering she wasn't afraid to hitchhike.
Her parents searched and asked everyone and put up missing posters, but they simply could not find her. They were heartbroken, to say the least.
Jemissa, on the other hand, only had them in her deepest thoughts while she managed to get herself all the way up to New York City. It was beautiful, and she was very happy. The problem being she had no place to sleep and very little money she had to spend on food and other habits. So she snuck into an abandoned apartment complex and slept there, though she wasn't alone.
Almost as soon as she stepped into the building, she heard the chirping of a cricket. Then, that cricket showed up, very finely dressed, and introduced himself as Jiminy Cricket. At first, Jemissa thought he was just a drug-induced hallucination, but when he didn't go away even after she cleaned up that particular part of her life, by his advice, she kind of just went along with it. It took a while for her to wean off the drugs that she had simply just tried at a party and never planned on getting addicted to, but eventually she ran out of money, and Jiminy helped convince her that it wasn't worth the risk, stealing them.
Though she still had to find a new place to live every few days. Can you believe it's illegal to trespass places where no one lives anyways? Well, at least she was good at getting away from the cops, until one day. They nabbed her and brought her to a precinct. But she wasn't being arrested for anything. No, she was being informed of something. Her parents had gotten into a car accident and died, and apparently they had quite a bit of money left to her for college.
The last thing she said to them was that she hated them. Yeah, she felt preeeetty guilty.
But anyways, she was placed with a foster family, being only 16 through this whole incident, finished out high school, and went off to college to study psychology, to be a good conscience for people who had her problems.
present Looking back on her life, Jemissa wishes she would have done about a million things differently. Like, not gotten addicted to drugs at those parties. Not drink her life away and act like a complete and total idiot in front of God and everybody. Not run away from home before she ever had the chance to say goodbye to her parents. So she tries to get people not to mess up their lives like she did, or honestly just mess up their lives in general. She does some charity work for the homeless because she knows how that feels, and is against things like smoking and drugs and binge drinking now (not that she won't have a little alcohol at a college party, she just tries not to go over the top.)
Jemissa is attending Barrie University, majoring in Psychology. When she graduates college (whoa, graduating college. she never thought she would get there in a lifetime.), she plans on working at a rehab center. Maybe even open one up of her own, one that is cheap and easily accessable for those who aren't exactly financially capable. Though she doesn't really think she'll ever get that far, what with nearly all the pinocchian crew she likes being around and having to deal with them and all that nice stuff, she can hope.

...literature*
book title Pinocchio
backstory Jiminy Cricket/The Talking Cricket is just settling down in Gepetto's house when, after a few happenings here and there, he's appointed official conscience to a wooden puppet boy. Which apparently is not as easy as it looks, because Pinocchio seems to like EVERYONE and listen to THEM, and everyone seems to be bad influences.
