build Well, sure, Ray works out. He isn't gonna go and turn into some kinda slob, is he? He likes having a hot body as much as the next guy, right?
height 6. Just 6, not 6'1", not 5'11", just 6.
clothing style Comfort trumps fashion any day. Sweatshirts, jeans, crocs. Awwww yeah. Though of course, you can usually catch him in his waiter's uniform for Sevens.
distinctive traits Ray has a seemingly impossibly high metabolism. He can generally be found eating something, and never seems to gain a pound. It's definitely something to be jealous of.

personality
Ray lives by the simple philosophy of going with the flow. He hardly cares about what goes on in the world or about the drama that people around him seem obsessed with stirring up. As long as nothing comes between him and his pot, he feels that everything is just fine and that it's much better to take a bit longer to stop and smell the roses. Most people would describe him as lazy for this reason, but he proudly owns it as being willing to step away from the crazy frantic nonsense other people get roped into. He personally has no desire to be as stressed and frantic as most other people in the city. It just seems like way too much work.
While Ray lets most things roll off his back, he is very protective of his friends. Though he generally acts disinterested in their "boring crazy drama," he is not afraid to beat the crap out of any guy who messed with one of them. Or at least try to, anyway. It's just the thought that counts, right? His track record for winning said beatings is rather less than exemplary, but he takes great pride in the fact that one time he totally gave this stupid asshole who had used one of his girls a black eye. The fact that Ray walked away with a more than a few bruises from that experience seems inconsequential.
Ray doesn't really know how to handle drama in his own life. He'll make jokes about it and try to ignore it as best he can. The escape he uses for most things is pot, because it just helps him keep from worrying about anything that might happen in his own life. The mellow, calm persona he adopted is his way of stepping back from any of his own personal problems. Being funny helps him forget about things that aren't going his way
past
Martha Jones was 20 years old when she had her son Raymond. She had just been a normal party girl trying to get by while in college in New York. As the cliche story goes, the baby daddy ran off before the result of his one night stand with the college student could even be born. Martha was forced to drop out of college in order to try and raise the baby herself. Once Ray grew out of infancy, he was subjected to nearly the same schedule every day. He would be woken up by his mother at 5 in the morning, gotten ready, and then walk in the early light with his mom at his side to get to the babysitter, who would take care of him from that point on until school time, and then keep an eye on him again from the time school let out til' nine at night. It would be then, and ONLY then, that Martha, finally picked up Ray from the babysitter and walked him back to their small apartment so they could sleep and start the process all over the next day. The only time that the schedule ever changed was when Martha was in between jobs, and even then it was hardly anything to celebrate about. While she was at home more, there was hardly time for joyous family bonding. She was constantly in a state of trying to hold down a job or find a new one before they tried to collect rent for the apartment.
Martha determined that Ray was old enough to take care of himself without a babysitter when he turned 8. Other than that, however, nothing much changed. He would head to school and then make his way home, sometimes getting a pretzel or a hot dog on the walk home. Ray had the unfortunate quality of being nearly constantly hungry, a trait which was explained away as having a high metabolism and being a 'growing boy'. While it was something that would have been simply quirky in other families, it was not the most desirable trait in a home where every penny counted.
As the years passed, Ray came to like the independence he had. Sure, he had to come up with explanations and excuses for people could never come over to his house, and his mom wasn't exactly the best at making it to PTO meetings and finding time to make things for the school bake sales, but she kept a roof over his head and he wasn't complaining. He found that people didn't ask all that many questions if he was funny and joked about his home life. The minute he made out to be something funny, people stopped worrying or wondering about it.
By High School he found that he was hardly the only person with such a broken family in the city. In fact, High School taught him that, if anything, he was lucky. He had just enough independence and freedom to be luckier than the average disgruntled kid, and just enough stability and money to not be classified as one of the less fortunate.
Ray fell in among the stoners, and he was pretty happy there. Everyone came from more or less a situation similar to his, or at least they voluntarily wanted to emancipate themselves from their families. He found that they were a pretty chill bunch, and no one worried about home life or any other problems when they were high as fuck. It was the first real group of people that felt like a family to Ray. Pot totally brought people together, and who cared if he was getting C's and D's in school? It wasn't like he was going to college any time soon.
Ray passed through high school as well as he could. He hardly cared at that point about classes or tests or whatever. More than a few times he would skip out on a test or a lecture to sneak out behind the gym and smoke with a few friends. It was truly a fine way to go about school.
present
Upon graduating, Ray finally was able to actually move ot of the apartment with his mom. He had no overabundant aspirations of going to college or pursuing an education. Oh no, Ray always knew that life wasn't for him. For a while, he found a slummy little apartment in a crappy neighborhood and got a job as a waiter at one of the local bars. Hell, it was far from living a glamorous American Dream, but he was happy with it. The major thing was that it paid to have him get his allotment of pot.
Ray's gotten to be fairly self-sufficient. On his fourth year working at Sevens, Ray has developed what he considers to be a fairly perfect technique of slipping out into the alley behind Sevens for a quick smoke every so often while on the job. Though he had initially figured that he would move on from the slum-ish waiter job, he's come to like it. He sees no need to qit a job that pays for what he needs and has been good to him for years already. He's fairly happy with it all. The one thing in the world that he could possibly wish for a higher income job would be to have the extra cash lying around so he could splurge on a good meal every now and again. That whole hungry all the time thing still is by no means a cheap affliction. Lately, he's started letting a stray orange tabby cat into his apartment at night to give it some food. While it usually disappears during the day, Ray has affectionately named the little guy "Tiger."
