personality
First off, Andy is an unlucky sort of person. Not just the raining-on-a-straightened-hair-day kind of unlucky, but the bird-poop-on-head-everyday sort. She manages to miss anything exciting because she's sick, or going to the bathroom, or sleeping in. In fact, her official nickname at Baum is Unlucky Andy (not very original, but then again, the students at Baum aren't the smartest). Of course, because she is so unlucky, Andy never takes anything for granted. She is a very accepting person, though sometimes cold towards others.
Andy is the most clumsy Sophomore. Her foot never ceases to find something to trip on each day. A list of those things: Her notebook, a dog on the streets, her own feet, a chair, a laptop, her own feet, a pillow, and her own feet. Because of this she is not the best at sports, nor running. However, she can climb any tree, any size. Does that count? She is also not the most popular person, being as she has spilled coffee on a record amount of other people's papers while tripping over her own feet. Perhaps this is why she doesn't carry around mugs anymore.
On the outside, Andy is a very mean-spirited person. She is quick-tempered, easy to argue with, and very boyish. Her friends-but-not-best-friends are mainly boys and it's easy for her to blend in with them. She's not very noticeable around others and likes it that way. She's a great prankster, though she rarely gets caught. She does this mainly for the attention. Andy actually happens to be rather slow and oblivious, but nobody would know this because she gets in trouble so often; something like unhinging the teacher's chair.
However, Andy's true nature is actually very sweet. She seems like a very tough lady, but really she has good intentions. Although she is portrayed as mean, she is not very good at it. Deep down all she wants to do is please somebody, but without the proper raising she has learned to fend for herself... with cruelness. She doesn't know what to do in a situation when somebody else is nice to her, so she sort of growls and goes away; this may be why all her friends are guys.
past
Andy's parents... are completely unknown. She was found at the step of an orphanage as an infant and taken in graciously. Andy likes to say she was born on Christmas, because that was the day she was found. She grew up having to be tough with all the boys in the building, and it wasn't very fun. She had no friends, no family, nothing. It was hard for her, not having a mother. Andy had no idea what a princess was, but she sure did know how to glue the visitors to their chair. She didn't know how to play house, but she did know how to tackle in football.
Once Andy hit her teens, she was shipped out to a foster family; two parents and four girls. Although Andy finally started wearing makeup and watching things other than NCIS, the girls themselves were immensely irritating. She kind of missed pushing around with the boys, and by a year the girls considered her a freak. She tried being nice to them, but once she realized the girls were not giving in, Andy went hard core. She started playing football (though she quit later on), wore explicit makeup, and managed five times to almost get sent back to the orphanage.
Once she hit high school the parents decided it was best for her to leave for Baum (in other words, she was a horrible nuisance and they wanted her out). Was it what she wanted? Sure, New York City was interesting. Freshman year she managed to make a few friends, have a few adventures, and almost get banned from Central Park for breaking the branches from trees by sitting on them. It was a good lot better than the foster home, as well as the orphanage. Sophomore year was much the same, with the usual trouble-making and occasional detentions.
present
This year Andy is uber excited. She spent the summer with her dreary foster family and being sent back to New York City will be a relief. However, she's not looking forward to the /shudder/ academics, as last year she got straight C's and D's and does not want to be kicked out and sent back to her foster family. She hasn't done any of the work she was supposed to during the summer, so we'll see how that goes. Her goal for the year... Andy doesn't do goals, except in the ice hockey team of Baum (she plays defense, actually.)
Lovely lovely Andy has decided to look for a job, probably something like walking dogs. She's completely broke and doesn't want to be stuck in the spot she was in freshman year... no coffee for three months? Not fun. In the past few years she's had fun getting in trouble in New York City, but she wants to keep that to a minimum now. The teachers all have grudges with her, and Andy doesn't want to push it.
