The last week had been…crazy, to say the least. Between Zack, the murder mystery, Zack, the National High School Debate Competition, Zack…damn it. She had to stop thinking about him. She knew that living in the moment was fun and all, but she couldn't completely lose focus on her future. She had an interview for an internship with NBC's legal department, and it was the chance of her life. There was no way Yale could not accept her if she had this on her resume.
They had given her a warning that if she was late, she would not be let in. However, Charley didn't know they were actually going to enforce that! She pleaded with them for twenty minutes about the reasons why she was late, but they still wouldn't let her in. Charley always thought people took being late way too seriously, it wasn't like she had showed up covered in blood or anything. Just because she was late didn't mean she wasn't serious about the job, it just meant that she had a series of circumstances had prevented her from being there at the appropriate time.
She actually had a very good reason for being late. She had gotten up extra early, but the dryer had broken and she had spent twenty minutes trying to open it. Of course, as soon as she tore the door off with a crowbar, she was greeted with the fact that all of her clothes had somehow shrunk to half their size. However, she didn't have any time to deal with it, so she stole the most conservative outfit she could find in Golddigging Whore's closet and ran out the door. However, because it was Golddigging Whore, she was of course bordering on looking like a hooker. She missed the subway by five minutes, of course, and had to wait another ten before the next train showed up. So by the time she had made it to Rockefeller Center, she had missed the interview by a good half hour.
She stood outside Rockefeller Center, trying not to freak out. It was only one interview, for one stupid internship and she probably could get a better one anyways. She didn't want to be an entertainment lawyer anyways! She could always take that internship the guidance counselor had set up for her…with Schumacher & Co. Legal Agency. Dammit, who was she kidding. She had just lost the most important additions she could ever have added to her college applications. She leaned against the wall, trying not to scream into the folder holding her fifteen page resume. She had to have the worst luck in the history of the world.
