It was a typical, glum, New York day. The sky was overcast, and the faint smell of rain hung in the air, forcing park-goers to run back to their apartments in fear of precipitation. Along with the weather, the general mood of the big city was down, like everyone was feeling a case of Monday.
But, as Jason liked to point out, it was Friday.
After winding through the city streets, Jason made his way into Bleeding Hearts, a nice restaraunt that Jason had come to love. Today he was here because he had a little lunch "date" with one of his best friends, Jeny. Jason had a bit of an issue referring to it as a date, because really, they were just close friends. That'd be so weird, to go an actual date with her.
Jason walked into the restaraunt, not noticing the hostess "drinking him in" with her eyes. "Hi, welcome to the Bleeding Hearts. What can I do for you?" Her last phrase was a loaded inuendo, but it went right over Jason's head, like most things. "Hello! I have a reservation for two...it's under the name 'Graham'." Jason said. Frowning, the hostess led him over to small table in the corner, designed for privacy.
Designed for couples.
Thanking the hostess, Jason sat down and fidgeted with his sleeve. His throughts moved to Mallory for a moment, wondering what she wouldthink if she saw him here. She'd probably think he was on a date, and she'd be happy for him, since she was always trying to set him up. Jason hoped Jeny wouldn't take it the wrong way. They were just friends, right?
notes;; Wow. This post is made of so much suckage I don't even...

OUTFIT OF IT'S NOT A DATE!!Lunch with Jason! This was going to be fabulous! Jeny adored her friends, each and everyone of them. Young Jason Graham was in her philosophy class, and Jeny had instantly taken a shine to him. There was something about him that was just so... She couldn't even explain it with one word. He was like a puppy and a kitten trying to get into the same slipper. She had been taken a little aback when he asked her to meet him at Bleeding Hearts. It was one of those places that couples went on anniversaries or when a guy was about to pop the question. Not usually where just friends went to eat... but oh well. Jeny certainly wasn't going to read too much in it. Instead she dressed for her classes, the plaid shirt-dress reaching just above her upper thighs, a pair of shiny black leggings coming down just below her knees. Her long brown hair fell down her back, pin straight, her bowl bangs falling just above her eyes, a purple bow pulled back behind one ear. Black flats, purple purse, purple and silver bracelet, silver star necklace, matching earrings. Matchy matchy matchy. Jeny bore her usual elegance, her usual cuteness. Whimsical and innocent. Jeny. Reaching the restaurant, she announced herself to the hostess, who seemed not pleased with her choice of dress. Still, Jeny assumed the hostess decided a paying customer was a paying customer, so that was that, because she lead little Jeny Salas-Ortiz to the table where Jason sat. He was a handsome fellow, with the most astounding set of eyebrows Jeny had ever seen. His klutziness tended to take away his natural good looks from most, though Jeny found it all the more endearing. And he really listened to people when they spoke, which was incredibly refreshing. Jason looked at Jeny's eyes, not her legs or butt or breasts. He was what her Papa would call 'A Good One'. ... for someone. Who was not Jeny. Because they were just friends. Grinning at him, she leaned down, and kissed him lightly on the cheek in greeting. "Hey you!" She spoke, grinning ear to ear, sitting in what she assumed was her seat as it was the empty one. "You know, I've passed this place almost everyday since I moved to New York City, and I've never once been inside..." Looking around, she could not help but be tickled with the romantic decorum. How lovely it all was. Roses, art work, table cloths, fine silver. "How did you get a reservation here? My friend Daniel said he had to put one in three months in advance when he made his..." Smiling at him, Jeny's round brown eyes watched Jason. She had a natural earnestness whenever she spoke, the kind that requested that they simply say any words, so she could simply hear them speak. And it was true, she loved when people talked to her. The calm, soothing, voice of a person telling her about her day. It was like a lullaby. Though few knew this, as she also enjoyed talking a great deal as well. Smiling, she relaxed in the comfortable chair, wishing she had checked her bank card before coming, so she knew what price range to stay in when she ordered.

Friendship was something Jason had a hard time defining.
Of course, if you asked him, Jason would tell you that he had a hard time defining anything, let alone such an abstract concept.
It brought out his hypocritatic side, for Jason was a big believer in the "friend-zone", for he was stuck inside of it. Jason knew it was the worst trap ever, falling in love with your best friend. Look at him and Mallory. He refused to think of her as anything less than perfect, despite everything that he heard about her. He ignored all the rumors, because in his mind, she was perfect. Yet, to Mallory, Jason was just a friend. It killed him everytime he saw her, knowing that he loved her and she only thought of him as her "brother". Jason vowed that no person should ever be friend-zoned EVER!
So why was he so blind to other people's feelings?
It could surely be described as a fatal flaw. Here Jason was, fighting against the bonds of friend-dom, yet he was enable to see when other people were attracted to him. It was extremely hypocritical, that had Jason knew how close-minded he had been, he would've kicked himself.
That's why when Jeny pecked him on the cheek, when she sat down and began to talk with that adorable entusiasim she had, Jason didn't think anything was out of the ordinary. They were just two friends enjoying lunch together, talking about their lives. Sure, the resturaunt they were in was expensive and suited more for couples, but Jason had a decent paycheck and he had always been brought up to pay for a woman. And why shouldn't he? Jason loved treating friends to lunch every once and a while; they had to catch up somehow, right?
"Jenners! How've you been?" Jason smiled earnestly as he listened to her talking. She really had a pretty voice. He could listen to it for a while. "Oh...well, I know some people. I could pull....You know, I haven't talked to you in forever, what's up with your life? How's dance?" Of course, as per typical Jason, he managed to veer off topic. It wasn't his fault he suffered from both ADD and ADHD, making his focus terrible and attention span short. He didn't really notice how much he jumped subjects, one minute talking about how football was going, the next talking about his affinity for sweets.
