personality
Tenacious
Lily really enjoys working hard. Whatever job she throws herself into ,she doesn't half-ass it. Lily sees the world as an opportunity to have a lot of fun and love, but you have to work to get it. Whenever she hears teens complaining about chores, Lily instantly gets peeved. Most of them only have to worry about cleaning their room once it gets to the point where the floor can't be seen! Lily doesn't want to be viewed as lazy, either. She's a big believer in first impressions since she's a matchmaker and once you're labeled as lazy, there's nothing you can do to fix it. Lily won't stop working until she gets something done, that's for sure.
Romantic
Despite the fact that she often comes off as brash, Lily is a true romantic. She believes in love at first sight and thinks that old people holding hands is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Lily has always worn her heart on her sleeve and when she's head over heals for you, you'll know it. Any time Titanic or some other "chick flick" is on, Lily cries. Heck, she gets emotional over the spaghetti scene in Lady and the Tramp! Lily has been planning her wedding since kindergarden (she doesn't want lilies nor roses, but she does want dahlias in honor of her sister) and is hoping every day that she'll finally be swept off her feet. The idea of a candlelit dinner, walks on the beach and true, cheesy, corny love makes her heart sing.
Bold
Lily has never been one to hold back her thoughts. While most people have a filter that develops over time, Lily's never even existed. It's child-like at times; Lily will walk right up to someone and ask "What's wrong with your face/arm/other part of body?" She doesn't believe in the phrases "no offense" or "not to sound mean" because Lily thinks that if you have to say that, then you are being offensive or mean. Lily just has an insatiable curiousity about things and she would never feel put out if someone randomly asked her what happened to her arm. Lily feels that it makes her who she is, as with any "deformities". Now, this makes her boldness sound quite beautiful. However, Lily can also come off as a bitch. As a matchmaker, you have to be able to tell people what's wrong with them, and Lily has no problem with that. There's no regret in her heart when she tells you that you're too desperate or obnoxious. She's not a hypocrite, either. Lily knows how to take tough love as well.
past
Lillian Porter was born to Caroline and Richard Porter after a complicated pregnancy. She was a breach baby, meaning that her feet came first. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and baby Lily almost never tasted air. Luckily, the doctors caught her and cut the cord just in time and there was no damage done to her brain. After a few teary minutes of holding her daughter, Caroline noticed that there was a splotchy birthmark on the back of her neck that resembled a flower, thus the name Lillian Rose. (To this day, Lily doesn't like to wear her hair up much because 1) Lily swears that it's not a flower, and 2) She thinks it looks diseased.)
Lily got to enjoy six years of single-child-dom before Dahlia was born. At first, it came as a shock to Lily. Why were mommy and daddy no longer giving their undivided attention to her? What was this thing they called her sister doing? And why wouldn't it just shut up? Lily didn't like Dahlia for a few months, but after a while she became the most devoted big sister ever. Lily mother-hened Dahlia whenever Caroline wasn't, played with her, made sure she was always happy. Then, when Lily was ten and Dahlia four, the Porter house caught on fire. Caroline and Richard blame themselves every day for it. They had left something in the oven and went down the street to briefly talk to a friend, and it caught on fire. Lily had ran across the house to use the "potty", leaving Dahlia alone in her room beside the kitchen for a few moments. When the alarms went off, Lily froze for a moment in the hallway. She didn't know what to do, Mommy and Daddy weren't there. When Dahlia started to scream and cry, Lily cried as well and finally snapped out of it. She went into the room next to her, her parent's room, and called 911. After choking out her address and that there was a fire, Lily hung up the phone and ran to her sister. What Lily saw has haunted her to this day and she refuses to describe it anymore than "she (Lily hasn't said her name since then, either) was on fire". Lily grabbed Dahlia anyways and carried her sister outside, the whole time screaming for help. When the fire department and paramedics arrived moments later, Lily went into a shock, not even registering the nasty burn on her arm.
Dahlia passed away in the ambulance.
The Porters mourned for a year. Caroline refused to talk to her family for months, hardly eating anything and not touching the oven in their rental house for weeks. Richard took his grief out on his football team, making the practices brutal and unforgiving (ironically, all the hard work he made his team do put them in great shape and they took home the state title). Lily didn't talk to anyone at school, home, or the nurses that she had to see every week to check on her burn. It was nasty reminder everyday of what happened, and Lily wore long sleeves to cover it up. Things went back to "normal" two years later, and Caroline and Richard began to express how much they loved Lily everyday. They clung tightly to her, making sure she did good in school and didn't get in to trouble. They supported her when she was a teen going through therapy to get over the trauma of watching her sister burn alive and cried for joy the day Lily happily put on a short-sleeved shirt. Lily was as healed as she ever could be when she graduated from high school and began to work with her mother as a matchmaker, something she showed a particular talent for. Lily was able to tell the girls what their problems were, whether they were too desperate or too uninterested, and she could shamelessly tell a man that he was being a douche bag and would never find love. Besides being able to whip people into shape, Lily had an eye for matches and she instantly became a hit in her mom's large company.
present
When she was nineteen, Lily convinced her parents to let her go to Paris to open up a new branch of the Porter's matchmaking company. It pained Caroline, but she personally knew the future workers and knew they would look after her "precious flower". Lily fell in love with the French culture; the romanticism of Paris, the classy, high-fashion styles, the food. Lily didn't want to leave. A few months before turning twenty-one, Lily got a call that her mother was retiring and she wanted Lily to take over the buisness. It was a hard decision, but Lily sold her apartment and took that money, plus the large bonus, and moved back to New York.
Lily has been running the company for ten months now and is doing extremely well for someone her age. She lives at the Ice Palace and enjoys the fancy things in life, but everyday Lily does a random act of kindness (RAKs, as she refers to them). Sometimes it's helping the little old lady with her groceries and others times it's giving food to homeless and needy children. Lily is always throwing herself into work and humanitarianism that the romantic has forgotten about ever finding true love, something she once dreamed about every night.

dislikes
- Fire
- People who are too afraid to just say what's on their mind
- The stereotype that matchmakers never find love
- Strict vegans. It bothers Lily because they think they're doing so much good, yet they're really causing harm to their bodies. Don't doubt that she won't go up to a vegan and stuff a hot dog in their mouth. Vegetarians are okay.
- Condescending attitudes. Just because you think you're above everyone doesn't mean you are.
- Sour candy
other notes Oh irony, I love you. Babette's personification being afraid of fire.

book title Beauty and the Beast
backstory Babette played little to no role in Beauty and the Beast, unfortunately. Before being changed into a feather duster, Babette was one of the castle's maids. It's implied that before the change, Babette and Lumiere had a relationship that still continued, despite being household objects. Funny how something so flammable as feathers would get so close to flames.
