She had been called, and asked to go to the beach with Jamie—which she was perfectly fine with! She agreed, and even told him the area on the beach she’d be at. Off the bus stop, then walk along the beach for half a mile or so—and you’d get to a quiet little spot on the beach. Sure there’d be people around, but not nearly as bad as near the pier, or bus stop areas. And she had all sputtered this out, before really thinking about it. When she hung up the phone, her smile faded, and she sighed.
Despite the manic panic that she dunked her hair in constantly to give it the bloody red appearance—she was born with orange hair. Orange hair, and porcelain skin. Especially living Nevada, she learned to protect her skin from the sun. After all, the desert is no place for a ginger. But after slow introduction to the sun, and lots of sunscreen, she had built up a tolerance, and didn’t burn to a crisp quite so much. However, when she moved to New York—it was a completely different story. She had gotten use to the stuffy heat of the city, who’s tall buildings prevented much of a breeze. She was use to air conditioning indoors, and rarely spent too much time in the sun, so she had hints of that porcelain skin that was so sensitive.
So while she was walking down the beach from the bus stop, she was slathering sunblock on herself. Over one shoulder, she carried her totebag. Which contained two sandwiches—one for her, one for Jamie. A few bottles of water, SP45, cigarettes, and a towel. Under her other arm, she was carrying a battery operated CD player with a vintage style to it. She kicked up the sand as she walked, before walking along the hard packed muddy sand closer to the water. It was much easier to walk on the wet sand, than the loose, soft sand that she almost had to climb through.
Joey tucked her hand just above her brows, and kept her hand stiff, shielding from the sun while she glanced around. Trying to see Jamie. She didn’t see him. Either he wasn’t there yet, was in the water, or she couldn’t see him because of the blinding sun. But she was almost certain he’d find her. She practically reflected sunlight, and her hair was the color of fresh apples. She wrinkled her nose in that was someone does when it’s far too bright out, while she set her things down. Joey spread her Gir towel on the sand, and weighed down one corner with her radio (which she turned on immediately, so she’d have some background noise while she waited), and the other with her bag.
She had her back to the ocean, but she sighed happily. She liked the beach, the breeze that was whipping her red hair around her face. The girl squirmed, while she pulled off the white beach dress. She wasn’t a dress girl, in the slightest. But it was short, sleeveless, and extremely comfortable. It was a lot less hot than walking in a shirt and shorts to get to her destination—that was her reasoning. Not because Mackenzie was finally—gulp—making her a girl.
Joey shoved her dress into her bag, and slathered sunblock across the top of her chest, and her stomach. She twisted awkwardly, trying to get her shoulders, and back the best she could, before dropping it onto her towel, and rubbing the remainder into her face. Joey was not a curvaceous girl, at all. Her chest was on the small side, but the bikini top had padding—for whatever reason, and made her look a little more voluptuous than she was. Her bikini bottoms fit snug and right, slung straight across her hips. Her body wasn’t soft, or squishy—no. She was much too athletic for that. But she wasn’t too muscular, just a small, wiry definition that thin people had.
Carefully, she lowered onto her towel, before leaning back on it. She reached over to her pack of cigarettes, and lit one up, while draping her other arm over her eyes. It was hot, and bright. But she didn’t want to go in the water and risk losing Jamie if he didn’t catch sight of her in the ocean. She hoped he’d recognize her—after all. Bathing suits were pretty gender specific. And Joey tended to wear neutral clothing. She moved the cigarette to her mouth, debating whether or not to call Jamie.

Why was sand so hard to walk through? Jamie felt like he was walking through a vat of quick sand and any second the earth was going to gobble him up like a anteater or something. He had long since took off his shoes and braved the hot sand. It was that or have sand spray everywhere. That was not fun. Sand was fun for two things, building sand castles and burying yourself in it. Walking on it, not some much.
But besides the sand, he was hanging out with Joey! Yay! He’d originally invited J but she had other plans. But that’s okay! Joey saved the awesome trip to the beach by saying yes! He finally got to the harder sand and search for his orange haired friend. It took him a second to realize she had bright red hair now and the very good looking red-head on the beach was Joey.
She was wearing a bikini! Well, duh. That’s what girls wear on the beach, Jamie thought laughing to himself. He didn’t really think about that when he asked Joey to come. He guessed he’d thought she’d wear swimming trunks and a shirt or something. This was definitely different. It was good different in that she was smoking hot but bad different in that she was smoking hot and he really didn’t want to think that way. Jamie shielded his eyes from the sun and ran up to Joey.
“You’re here! Yay!” he said holding his hands up in the air. He sat down in the sand and leaned so that his head was inches from Joey’s. He really had to try hard not to think about her in the bikini. Of course, he’d seen her in other states but this was too surprising for his teenage hormones. He put the thought of that night out of his mind for the moment and grinned. “You wanna make a sand castle?”

Joey slid her arm away from her face when she heard a voice, and squinted in the bright light, looking into Jamie's face. She grinned at him, and reached upwards to squeeze him around his neck for a minute, before sitting up abruptly. "Make a sand castle?! Do you really even have to ask?!" She twisted around to stare at Jamie like he was some foriegn person, come to steal her virtue. Joey scrambled to her feet, and put her hands on her hips, and looked out at the ocean. "We need the wet sand, and the dry sand. The best castles are made of both. Oh! And we'll need sticks and seashells." She turned around, her feet digging into the sand while she twisted to face him, her face all about serious business.
"First Mate Jamie!" She said, in a mock commanding voice. She straightened her spine, and puffed out her chest while saluting Jamie with her left hand--as her right held the cigarette. "Your lovely ginger Captain Joey requires an important task." She put the cigarette in the corner of her mouth, and turned again, pacing back and forth in the sand with her arms crossed over her lower back. She took only a few seconds to place, and pretend th think, before her hand whipped the cigarette out of her mouth, and she pointed at him. "You need to find a clever, magnificent way to get the wet sand and the dry sand together, so we don't have to run back and forth between the two. As well as picking up any fine, and interesting shells that you find on the way. Your Captain will gather sticks, and also shells that she finds. Are you up to this mission, First Mate Jamie?" She put her left hand on her hip, and stared at him with a completely serious expression.
Despite the role she was pretending to be in, she was excited. And that could be seen in the wiggling of her toes, or the way her shoulders were slightly bouncing. Like she couldn't hold still at all. "If you complete this mission, you will be greatly rewarded." Joey moved her hand from her hip, and stroked her imaginary beard in thought, before taking another puff off her cigarette. She gestured at her bag, her voice going back to it's normal pitch, "Cigarettes in the bag if you want one, water too. And there's a sandwich in there if you get hungry."

Jamie looked up at Joey and wondered how he became the first mate. Well, he was more first mate material. Jamie had never been the leader of anything. He thought for a second and a lightbulb went off in his head. “Why don’t we just move to higher ground and get the dry sand wet, my lady captain?” he suggested. Jamie loved looking for shells. He took off his shirt and nodded. “I’m on it. The best ones are in the water.” Then he took of running into the water. It was cold but that’s how Jamie liked it. He was used to the water because that’s what he swam in as a kid. It was rough and unforgiving if you didn’t swim it right. The waves could knock you over. Jamie dived down when his feet hit something hard. He pulled up a big purplish calm shell. “Hey! Look!” Jamie shouted. “It’s a whole shell. Sweet!” He brought it up to the shore and put it on Joey’s towel. "Cigarettes in the bag if you want one, water too. And there's a sandwich in there if you get hungry." “Oh yay! Sandwich!” Jamie squeaked. He rummaged through the bag and took out the sandwich holding it up like a trophy. “I found the booty!” he said in a pirate voice. He took a big bite of the sandwich and smiled. “Dis is good,” he said a mouth full of food. After he ate the rest of his sandwich his face got an evil expression. “ Time for Captain Joey to go overboard!” he shouted. He scooped Joey up and ran in the ocean before he dropped her into the water and giggled. A wicked smile crossed his face as he flopped in the water himself.

If there was one thing Jemima did not like feeling, it was guilt. Oh, how she had wanted to go to the beach with Jamie! But she had plannd something else beforehand and there was no way she would bail on a job interview, even if it was for Starbucks. So she told him she couldn't go, which started the whole guiltfest. And then what happened? The manager called and rescheduled the interview to the next day. Now she really had nothing ele to do excpet go to the beack, since her other friends were busy and there was absolutely no way that she would ever stay are her wrongly given JUNIOR dorm and hang out with Melody. So off to the beach it was, after she called and texted Jamie with no answer. Oh well, it could be a surprise that, oh look, she was going after all!
While on the way, she pondered about it and realized that Jamie might not have even gone to the beach, and if he had, he likely invited someone else. So either way she would lose, because it would eitherbe a lonly trip to the beach or she would be intruding. After all, she really didn't have to be around Jamie all the time like her something inside her wanted her to be. Jemima didn't know what it was. It wasn't hormones because that was creepy. And 'heart' was too mushy and irrational. It was confusing and she hated it. Well, she loved Jamie. Just hated the feeling because it was inconvienent.
When she got there, the first thing she really noticed was bright red hair. Whoa. Then she saw who looked to be Jamie talking to this girl. Could that be Joey? As she got closer, she realized that yes, it was Joey and Jamie. Jemima felt that pain of something that wasn't guilt; it was one of those unwated stabs that she had known since that emotional day at Sacred Heart was jealousy. Annoyed, she suppressed it. No, there was no reason for her to be jealous. One, her and Jamie weren't together; and two, she didn't even know what was going on between Jamie and Joey (partially because she wouldn' allow herself to find out, because that jealousy would probably get worse).
This was such a dilemma. Should she turn around and leave, ot intrude on whatever they were doing? She stood there for a few good minutes, just thinking, then decided to lay her towel about 2-3 feet away from where they were set up. She sat down, hiding her face between her bent knees, though it really wasn't working. And if they noticed her, she could be all "SURPRISE!" and if not..... who knew?
Yeah, so this wasn't the best idea, but oh well. This was how it was gonna go down.
notes; THIS IS SO AWFUL I'M SORRY. i handwrote this and it was a page and a half front and back. ;_; If you want me to change anything, tell me. OUTFIT
