...appearance*
hair color Brown. He's aware it's long and curly and flippy. Thank you.
eye color Blue-green.
build we'll let this explain it
height 178cm! (5'10" in America. He really doesn't understand the system.)
clothing style A little outdated because he gets all of his clothes from Goodwill, though he likes Hollister and things like that, and he does have some of their older things that he's found along the way. Mainly he'll just stick to jeans and a t-shirt, and his old Chuck Taylors that are oretty much his only shoes. If anyone paid attention, they would notice that sometimes he wears the same thing twice in a week, though he tries not to.
distinctive traits He always tries to smile, no matter what, though it's not easy. His smile can brighten a room if given a chance.
...personal*
personality On the outside, Jackson is just an average teenage boy. He's very cheeky, and will often say things aloud in a classroom that really shouldn't be said. He could very well be considered a class clown, and would like the recognition of one, please and thank you. There are only two people he won't be so obnoxious in front of, and those would be Kayla Hirsch and Grace Holladay. Yeah, his mother and his best friend in the whole world. He just kind of tones it down in front of them because he doesn't need to impress them. But when not around them, he's good for a laugh, or a prank, or a dare, or a lot of things. He'll do a lot to make friends, except probably try any hardcore drugs or you know, murder somebody. Those are pretty much his boundaries. He accepts Jew jokes and even makes a few of his own. Honestly, he's not really all that religious, and finds most of the jokes funny. Most of them. That's another thing. He always tries to laugh and smile no matter what happens, because he thinks those things will make whatever bad thing better. A good hug or pretty much any of Grace's cooking can solve any problem, if only for a little while. Speaking of which, he also does inhale food like a vaccuum and is hungry almost constantly. And no, it is NOT funny if you give him something and don't tell him it has bacon in it until he's done eating. That's just not cool, bro.
Anyways, that's pretty much all a lie, apart from the bacon thing and a few others.
Honestly, Jackson really isn't all that happy. All his jokes, his pranks, his general self- it's all to hide the fact that his mother is alone on a poor little farm right now with no one to comfort her but a useless cow since his father died. He's actually pretty poor, and got into Baum Academy on an athletic scholarship and good essay-writing skills. No one's seen the side of him that only comes out when literally no one is around, and that's the side of Jack that's really hurt by some of the things people say and doesn't actually know what he's doing when he's joking around. Thing is, he's just really good at improvisation in any case. He often doesn't think things through, they just happen. Jack bottles up emotions a lot of the time and lets them out all at once, so sometimes he gets into fights and/or randomly leaves to go be alone for a while.
Enough of that, though. One thing Jackson really tends to be is protective, if only because he doesn't want to destroy what he has going for him so far. While he doesn't mind much what happens to himself, he does care a great deal about what happens to the ones he loves. So he can get a little protective overGracethe people he thinks need itGraceor are easily manipulated and around manipulators.
past Kayla and Ezra never asked for much. Having been high school sweethearts, and married soon after graduating, they just wanted to own a small farm in America and grow old together. Which didn't happen for a few years, because an early arrival of a planned event made them stay in Birmingham for a few years. That stop sign was named Jackson Ezra, and his parents didn't mind staying in England for a few more years at all.
They stayed there until he was seven, then moved to America, purchasing a small farm in Iowa. While Jackson missed Birmingham, he liked the farm much better and the animals they eventually got. They had three cows, a bull, six chickens, two roosters, two pigs, and a horse. The farm was actually pretty successful there for a while. They weren't exactly rich, but they had all they wanted and they never wanted all that much anyways. Family was the most important thing.
So it was easy to see why they failed when they lost it.
It was a horrible storm, and they were all huddled in the cellar. The storm had come on quickly, and they hadn't had time to bring the animals down to the cellar or tie them up to be safe. Caring about those animals, Ezra Hirsch rushed outside to save them, with a promise to return. Needless to say, he broke his promise.
He hadn't come back by the time the storm subsided. When Kayla and her son went up to investigate, the whole barn was gone. All that was left was one cow, tied up to a big oak nearby. The house was also damaged, but not as much. Eventually he was found and buried and everything, but it was going to be hard without him. Thirteen-year-old Jackson took on a lot of his responsibilities, and almost single-handly rebuilt the part of the house that was damaged in the storm. He grew up then.
The farm suffered after that, now only having one cow that hardly ever produced milk in the first place, but they stayed with it, living off the bit of insurance they recieved. Jackson realized he had to do something more, had to get a proper job and education (he was homeschooled since they lived in America). So he applied for Baum Academy in New York City and was accepted.
present Jackson didn't want to be the dead-beat guy he kind of turned into when he went to this school, so he started to put on a mask of jokes and pranks and just overall cheeky positivity to hide the sadness. It worked, and instead of being labeled as an emo kid, he made a lot of friends in a lot of different social circles, includingthe beautiful, lovely, wonderful, amazing perfectGrace Holladay. They're just friends, of course, very close friends, and he would do anything for her and protect her against all harm. He plays soccer for Baum and lives in the dorms there with an asshole roommate.
For extra money, he works at a florist's shop and as a busboy at a resturant. His work and school does take up a lot of time, but he always tries to find some to do social things. He hasn't been to the mall yet, and would like to do that one of these days. Or Coney Island. Jackson has never been on a roller coaster. Overall, though, he likes New York City, and writes his mom often about it.

book title Jack and the Beanstalk
backstory Jack and his widowed mom were poor and living on a farm with one cow. One day, when the cow ran out of milk, Jack's mom told him to go into town to sell it. While there, a mysterious man came up to him and offered him some magic beans for the cow. Because magic is cool, Jack said yes and went home with the beans. Now, his mom was pretty angry that he had beans and not cash, so she threw them out the window, and Jack stormed off to bed. While sleeping, the beans grew into a beanstalk leading up past the clouds and to a giant castle. Jack climbed up this and realized some rich giants lived there. While the dude was a jerk, the wife was very nice and hid Jack so he could eventually steal a bag of gold, a gold-egg-laying goose, and a magic harp. When the giant finally caught him and started following him down the beanstalk, Jack cut it down and killed the giant, and Jack and his mother lived happily ever after with their newfound riches.
