personality
One thing you should know about Ozzie is that the boy is never serious. He personally loves it, but others find it extremely annoying at times. Ozzie fails to see the severity of situations, partly because he doesn't want to. When his mom died, he used humor to cope, and it stuck. Now he sees everything with a humorous twist, whether it be crude, dark or punny. Teachers bug him all the time that he needs to pay more attention in class and put more effort into his work because they "know he's a really smart kid". Ozzie scoffs at the idea of putting effort into school work--when's he ever going to use that stuff? His lack of seriousness and slight immaturity is probably also one of the reasons he's never had a legit girlfriend. Oh, Ozzie's had his little flings, but when the girl is ready to take the next step emotionally, he's all "I'm out, bro!".
Ozzie also adores being the center of attention. Luckily, his outgoing, exuberant and charismatic nature makes sure he's never a wallflower. As long as he's in the spotlight (even if he has to, sigh, share it), Ozzie is a happy camper. Ozzie is also a bit conceited, if you couldn't tell. While not a tool, Ozzie still thinks he's a total hotshot. You get to go on a date with the Oz-man? You're one lucky chick, in his brain. Needless to say, Ozzie is generally friendly and silly, but can come off a little...strong, at times.
One wouldn't think it, but Ozzie is actually pretty laid back. Emotionally, anyways. On the outside, he's all energy, but his feelings typically stay pretty chillax. Ozzie has a long fuse and he can't recall the last time he got really, really mad at someone. Yeah, he'll find himself in petty arguments every once and a while, but he's usually the one to just walk away when it gets heated. He doesn't like confrontation and would much rather be friends with everyone.
past
Little Oswald Wagers was a plump kid. His first few years of life were spent mostly eating, as Siobhan wanted nothing more than to spoil her little boy. Unfortunately, eating all those Cheerios carried into the elementary years, where kids are brutal. The baby fat stayed and soon Oswald was coming home every day crying because someone called him fat and made fun of him. It was awful, and his name just made the torment worse. He ate lunch alone, and the other kids liked to throw food at him and moo. Oswald hated it and cried everyday to be able to stay home and not go to school, but Siobhan would tell her son to be strong and that he was better than all of them.
When Oswald turned thirteen, his mother died in a car accident. The death rocked the Wagers, especially Oswald. He loved his father dearly, but his mother had been his rock, the one person he could tell everything. For days he sat in his room, not wanting to come out, not even for food. Finally, two weeks later, Liam announced to Oswald that they were moving to America. He had a better job there and he couldn't stand to be in the house that carried so many memories of Siobhan. Oswald was more than thrilled to leave, it wasn't like he had friends in Dublin. A month later, they sold the house and hopped a flight to New York.
They settled in right when summer began and Oswald was ecstatic. With is dad's more than willing help, Oswald (who now demanded to be called Ozzie) had a makeover. He still ate like a pig, but worked out constantly. It was a bit frightening to Liam; Ozzie visited the nearest gym twice a day every day and ran his chubby butt off. Literally. When his eighth grade year began, Ozzie had lost all the extra weight and had revealed himself to be a pretty cool guy. Working out had provided a great distraction from his grief, but now that he was in school and couldn't do it everyday, the weight of his mother's death came crashing back down. Ozzie found himself speaking out in class, making a joke out of everything. His classmate's laughter lifted him up, made him feel better. Finally Ozzie could bear his mother's death in a much healthier way.
present
To make sure he didn't put any weight back on, Ozzie joined the Baum soccer team his freshman year. He's still playing as a forward and has found he's actually good at it. It's the only thing he takes seriously; Ozzie's classes are on grade level and while he could pass them easily if he paid attention, he doesn't, so he's behind on his grades. His mother's death has become a lot easier to deal with, and Ozzie has found that he can go through all the old photo albums without getting choked up.
Ozzie's made it to his senior year, and he's starting to freak out a bit. With his grades, there isn't a guarantee that he'll graduate and go to college. He actually does some homework every once and a while and, gasp, has gone a few classes without cracking a joke. Unfortunately, Ozzie is relying on soccer to get him a scholarship (he doesn't realize he needs the grades as well). Ozzie's popular with the ladies, even though they all know he can't hold down a serious relationship to save his life. He definitely plans to leave his mark on Baum and is planning the best senior prank in existence.
