personality
GOOFY--- Ever since he was a kid, Jason has almost always been a goofy, fun-loving guy. He prefers to joke around rather than be serious, but when you're the youngest brother, that tends to happen. All the serious matters are handled by the older siblings, and the youngest are always left to be goofing off and making sure that everyone else has enough chaos to deal with. Right? Right.
Besides, everyone loves to have fun.
OPTIMISTIC--- Jason has always seen the bright side of things, even if everyone else knew it was all going wrong. He doesn't dwell on the bad stuff, but instead focuses on the good options that are there to be chosen. When his sister decided she was going to find her biological mother, Jason was the first one to tell her that she'd do it, that the other woman had to be out there. Maybe she was even looking herself.
SUPPORTIVE--- Where would society be without the supporting cast? Probably running around like chickens with their heads cut off. At least, that's what Jason likes to think. Which is why he normally does his best to make sure that no matter what decision his friends and family make, he's one-hundred-percent behind them. Even if he disagrees with the decision they're making. Want to run for class president? You'll have Jason's vote (as long as he doesn't promise someone else his vote, that is). Think this color looks better on you for your prom dress? Jason will most likely agree, and congratulate you on your findings. He's a good guy, and just wants to make sure everyone around him knows that they have someone on their side.
PROTECTIVE--- Now, Jason is an older brother to a girl who, needless to say, has her fair share of admirers. And said girl can be completely oblivious to how guys act, and how they work. Which is why Jason takes it upon himself - just as his older brothers did as well - to make sure his sister is safe. She doesn't go on a date with a guy without Jason and the others meeting him first, and approving of him. If they don't approve, then there's no date.
Let's just say Alpha hasn't dated too many guys.
past
Jason can remember the day they brought Alpha home. How his mother made his two-year-old self sit on the couch between her and his father, and gently put his new baby sister in his arms for the first time. Possibly one of his first memories ever. Luke, five, and Philip Jr., seven, were there, too, but Jason had been the first to hold her. She'd been so tiny, so pale in the pink blanket swaddled around her. Bright blue eyes had peeked out at him, before gently closing again as she went back to sleep.
Over the years, Jason would maintain a close relationship with his sister, as they were the closest in age. He knew before she did that Alpha was adopted. But then again, everyone had. It hadn't been a secret to the boys as it had with Alpha, but as it was, they'd been sworn to secrecy. Hillary hadn't wanted her daughter to know until it was the right time, and Jason had known enough to respect that promise. Besides, the news probably would have devastated Alpha. What big brother would purposely break his sister's heart that way?
He and Alpha have always been tight, which was why he felt responsible when she found out the truth. He was a senior in high school, ready to graduate, when Alpha was told the reality of it all. To say the least, she'd lashed out at him in her own way, possibly blaming Jason for being lied to. And what could he say? He'd helped the lie, but only because it'd been a promise given to his parents never to let Alpha know.
present
Barrie University had seemed like a good choice for schooling, even though Jason hadn't exactly been sure what he wanted to do with his life yet. There have always been times when Jason feels he doesn't want to grow up -- ever -- and deciding on a major seems like the ultimate seal when it comes to leaving behind his childhood. Which is probably why Jason is still going undeclared, figuring that he'll find the right career path for himself one day. He just intends on waiting.
Jason was actually the one who suggested Alpha come to New York City to start her search, if only because he knew his mother wanted her baby girl to be safe. Knowing that Baum was a good school, and close enough to the university, Hillary had agreed and sent Alpha to the city. Now, Jason not only attends his classes - a mix of basically everything as he looks for something to catch his eye - he also watches out for Alpha. Just like he always has. And he always will.

"Adam Henry. Devoted friend, loving son, selfless hero."
That was the epitaph written on the gravemarker in the town's sole cementary, as the funeral for the late police officer took place. Four friends were gathered around the partially empty grave, the coffin already lowered down into the ground, waiting for the final good-byes. Each held a handful of dirt that they were to toss into the hole, one by one, as they were the closest with Adam during his life.
An all-American boy-next-door kind of guy, Adam had died tragically at a young age of twenty-two. Killed by a fatal bullet to the heart in the line of duty during an open fire, a hostage situation in the next town over that had called for back-up. He'd just gotten his badge only six months before, and the town was devestated for Adam that he'd never be able to live his life to the fullest. At least his friends had shown up for the funeral, many had murmured.
Alexandria Ophelia Jenkins, not just a friend but family to Adam, was one of the four surrounding the open grave. Dressed simply in a black dress, her hair pulled up, stared down at the casket in the ground with a blank expression. She'd returned to the town two days before in time for Adam's funeral, after hearing a week beforehand that her cousin had been shot and passed away. The blonde hadn't actually been back in five years, ever since she'd left the day after graduation. Never looked back, even once, to see if she'd miss anything. Or anyone.
The now twenty-one-year-old had gone to New York on full scholarship to NYU, studying photography and film production. She was graduating in a couple months, with honors, and was planning on attending graduate school in the same field of study. Everyone at NYU had seemed to accept her, unlike the people back here in Green Valley, South Dakota. Back when she had moved there, just before ninth grade, everyone had whispered.
Back then, her platinum hair had streaks of purple and pink. Her make-up usually consisted of heavy black eyeliner, her nails were often painted black, and she was known as the rebellious teen who didn't follow the rules. Granted, no one had really known Allie's history, and she hadn't cared enough about them to tell all. Adam had been the only person she knew in the entire school, besides her twin brother Thomas, and even then he'd been the only nice one there at first. She had joined his group of friends at the beginning of high school, making their quartet a band of five.
Kade Nathaniel Harris stood at the graveside as well, a solemn look on his face as he stared at the ground below his feet rather than what lay inside the ground. He'd known Adam since they were in grade school, as well as the others except for Allie. Fifteen years of friendship, now lying in the ground. The twenty-three-year-old gave a sigh as he carefully dropped his handful of dirt into the hole, pausing momentarily to gather his wits and words.
"Adam was like my brother, and my best friend. The day I never think about him again will be the day after I die myself."
Kade had gone to the University of Arizona, going on to be a competitive swimming champion as he studied English literature. As a teen, he'd been the jock of their group, the one who always had practices and swim meets. Adam had never missed a single meet during their high school years, always saying that if one of his best friends was going to be competing, he wanted to be there to say he saw them win.
Now, Kade turned away from the grave, running his clean hand through his light brown hair and giving another deep sigh. It was bad enough that Adam had died in the line of duty and they'd had to see his body. But now, he felt like they were being made into spectacles, all because they had known him best growing up. Adam wouldn't have wanted his friends to be embarrassed.
And yet there they stood.
