Eliza genuinely wants everybody to be happy. She tries to please each and every person her path comes across and won't stop till she succeeds. Ever since the Accident, she's taken it as a responsibility to do nice things. Eliza doesn't understand why there are mean people out there, or war, or sadness. She's painstakingly simple and kind, and perhaps that's why some people hate her so much. They just can't stand that she's a good person.
Everybody depends on Eliza. She's such a trustworthy person that often people put too much on her plate. She tries, she really does, but sometimes it's just overwhelming. And while she has literally no temper, sometimes she'd like to, because people could be so annoying and all she can do is cope with it. Somebody call her films cheap? She'll just ask for some advice.
The fact is, Eliza's not the smartest person you'll pick out of the crowd. Although good in the arts,, she does not do well on her basic academics. Her amazing taste of filmography sort of makes up for it, but if she had any wish her second choice would be being cleverer. She is oblivious to all those rumors that went about school about her occasional idiocy.
past
Eliza's parents, Lauren and Ryan Williams, grew up as good friends. They both went to the same Elementary school, High School, even college. So it wasn't a surprise when Ryan proposed to Lauren and she accepted. They bought a house in Louisiana and started their own small company selling a variety of products. They were lovely people, polite, respectful, and funny. Eliza and her twin Asher were born on August 9, 1989.
Eliza grew up inseparable from her brother. They did everything together. Who needs friends when they have a twin? The two rarely argued and were each other's best friends. That is, until Asher realized he needed from guy friends. In eighth grade he tore apart everything he had built with her. She was horrified of the prospect of making new friends. And that's how it was till junior year; they barely nodded to each other at home, least interact.
On December 24, 2010, The Williams were driving to Eliza's grandparents' house for Christmas. It was 6 in the morning and Eliza and Asher were arguing over something stupid when the car lost control over black ice. It hit the truck in front of it and the impact killed Lauren, Ryan, and Asher. The paramedics found Eliza unconscious, her head seriously injured. She was taken into intensive care and was reported to have permanent memory loss, though some still come back to her now.
The day she woke up from a two day long coma, Bill the Lizard popped in. He was supportive and nice and like a new best friend. Eliza didn't quite believe him at first, but after a while she accepted the fact that she was a reincarnation. It wasn't something huge compared to what had happened just a few days ago, so really, at the time, this was inconvenient.

Once finished with junior year, Eliza packed all her stuff and moved to Los Angeles with her grandmother. She moved to Boulder, and back to Louisiana (which was painful). All in one summer she moved to three different places, and she absolutely hated it. None of these places were what she was looking for; there was always a painful trace of memory in each city, one that she didn't remember, but was told about. So when she moved to New York City it was such a relief for the so-told memories to numb away.
She took all her stuff to Baum University, where they generously accepted her. Her grandmother is staying in Louisiana, but Eliza can't bear going back there. Eliza is happy at Baum, happier than she thought possible because of the past year. Of course, she's not always positive, and sometimes she still thinks about her family and her lost memories. It's a passing thing.

backstory Bill the Lizard is the awesomesauce guy who's pretty much forced to go down the chimney and get Alice out of the Rabbit's house when she's huge. Unfortunately, she kicks him out, but he survives. Later in the story, he is seen in the Queen of Heart's jury, but Alice doubts he is actually writing notes and when she takes his writing utensil away he tries writing with his finger (which fails).
