personality
Everybody on campus (and some off) know about Darcy's sleeping habits. Although she drinks caffeine constantly she cannot seem to subside her sleepiness. In her freshman year she missed five exams due to oversleeping, yet she bombed two of them because she was still drowsy. Because of this there are one too many Starbucks coffee containers in her trash and she never seems to look her best during her classes. Not only that, but she has a reputation for mumbling nonsense in her sleep, which caused one of her dorm mates to request to move.
Darcy is an avid writer. She has endless thoughts spewed onto paper strewn across her bed. Many people describe her as indescribable because she often pulls out a journal at random times and writes down something that seems to interest her in a conversation. Although her stories are thought-provoking they are so strange people sometimes don't understand them, much like herself. In fact, one time her poem was so confusing her professor ordered her to rewrite it.
Darcy never stands out in the crowd too much. Her friends are often the ones who everybody loves and remembers while she is the third wheel. She likes it this way, perhaps because otherwise people would view her as an oddball if she tried to stand out. Sometimes, though, she likes to think that she's somebody important to everybody else. This, of course, is somewhat true, although most call her ridiculous nicknames due to her...difference.
She is unavoidably tolerable of things. Darcy Alice will put up with almost anything and everything, maybe due to her being inevitably gullible. Therefore people take advantage of her all the time, almost always ending up with bad consequences. However, she can be quite impatient and everybody knows to avoid her few pet peeves. Those who don't always get a rude response or ignorance from Darcy.
past
Leanne Davis was an abstract painter who grew up in Poland and moved to London to study the history of artists, hoping to become a teacher. Alastair Robinson was a farm boy from uplands in the United Kingdom. He wasn't content with raising cows and chickens and so moved to London for some adventure. He met Leanne asking for directions for his newly bought apartment and after a year of dating he proposed to her. She eagerly accepted and the outcome was James and Sarah Robinson. Four years later Darcy Alice was born.
Darcy grew up essentially alone in London. Her brother and sister, who were inseparable twins, left her excluded. Her parents were carefree and didn't pay attention to what she did. She enjoyed school but hated numbers and science, things that had logical answers. She made friends in grade school but they weren't lifelong mates, just temporary people to sit with at lunch. People's first impressions were that she was sweet and quiet, but as they got to know her they found out she was strange and full of complicated ideas.
When Sarah and James left for college in the United States (both at some science-based spectacular college whose name Darcy always forgot) her parents slowly fell apart till they filed a 'friendly' (Leanne's quote) divorce. Darcy wasn't heartbroken, which worried her parents. It wasn't something life changing, but she realized she needed to discover herself (cheesy, she knows) and leave behind her family. So, she applied for J. Barrie as well as a few other colleges. She managed to earn a few scholarships for writing at J. Barrie.
Freshman year of college Darcy took an English Major and Creative Writing Minor and managed to pass her Chemistry and Physics classes. It was a totally different experience and she liked it. New York City was exhilarating and exploring the nooks and crannies was her favorite past time. She worked at a restaurant, although the experience wasn't too ensuring because she was absent half the time due to sleeping and none of the customers understood her British accent and habits. She managed decent exam grades (for the most part) and visited her sister and brother over the summer, although she only did this for time's sake.
present
Darcy Alice is now starting her Sophomore year, happy to escape her sister and brother. They spent two months talking about their engineering project over the summer and had too many equations than she could handle. She's thinking about working as an assistant to a Professor to earn some cash as being a waitress didn't work out last year. She's still working on the English Major and is trying to fit in a series of short stories she's been writing. Her goal this year? To finally watch a Broadway show without falling asleep.
Darcy Alice's relationship with her mother and father has been mutual. They all feel obliged to send emails and letters to each other once a couple months, but she never likes visiting their separate flats in London for holidays. Therefore she tries to avoid mentioning the weeks off she has because she likes staying in New York City and catching up on any extra work for her classes. She expects this year to be much different now that she knows the secrets and catches to the city. She also wants to work on losing the Brit accent, but that's not happening anytime soon.

book title Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
backstory The Dormouse is a mouse that hangs out with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. He is found being used as a cushion by the Hatter and the Hare when Alice reaches their tea party. He is constantly at the brink of being awake and asleep, being noted to murmur "You might just as well say, that 'I breathe when I sleep' is the same thing as 'I sleep when I breathe'!" in his sleep. He tells Alice a story that makes no sense whatsoever which causes her to interrupt him constantly with questions, irritating him greatly. Eventually he is pushed into a teapot by the Mad Hatter and the March Hare.

rp sampleThe first thing Darcy noticed was the lit up city. Every alley, every street, every corner had lights shining upon them. She thought she was imagining all of the people rushing past her, all of the tall buildings and amazing details. She couldn't see the stars, but she could see everything else. This was nothing like London, dreary London, where she grew up wary of by passers and dreaded each night. No, she could feel that this was home. This was home and she would not be leaving soon.
As Darcy Alice marveled over the sights, she stiffened. Oh dear. She had no idea where she was going. Gingerly dropping all of her stuff (which was two suitcases and a carry-on) she pulled out a crumpled piece of paper, squinting at the map of New York City. It was so complicated she threw it on the floor and stepped on it. After all, what use was it? She was so tired (jet lag never seemed to affect her) and that paper would get her nowhere. Instead she observed people throw out their hands for taxis and realized that was possibly the most clever thing to do. She followed the others' lead and a yellow-and-black taxi soon pulled over in the busy road.
"Would you like a ride, missy?" Darcy smiled. "Oh yes, thank you." She stepped into the car with her things and he raised his eyebrows. "Where d'you want me to take you exactly?"
"Oh! Er- I'm looking for the dorms of J. Barrie University?" The man nodded and held his hand out for cash. She happily gave him a wad and he took off slowly back into NYC traffic.
"This is amazing," Darcy added, talking to herself as she peeked out the window. She had a sudden feeling of distinct familiarization and emptiness. There were people here she knew that were missing from her life. That's all she could infer from the feeling. Yet she pushed it away, instead grinning ear-to-ear. This was her new home.
