So you are here because you don't understand what the admins and other members mean when they throw around the questions " OMG, GUYS, HOW AM I GONNA GET (insert character here) TO WAKE UP? IT IS KILLING MEEEE!!" or "So is he awake yet?" Fear not, this question is designated JUST for you.
So first off, when a character is "dormant" it means that they have absolutely NO clue that they are the storybook character they represent. Not. An. Inkling. Sure, they could have an affinity for the little mermaid or whatever book they're from, but there's no immediate connection between themselves and the character, and no omnicient character voice echoes through their heads at any given time.
This means that when a character is "awake" they KNOW that they are the character, and either have visions of that character or hear their (most likely annoying) voice in their heads all the time. Yeah, it's a bundle of fun.
This mans that "Awakening" is the transition point between the two. Basically, when the character gets to a point so stressful in his or her life that they just. can't. HANDLE it anymore, the personification breaks loose, and most likely brings with it some magical explosion of power/magic. Yeah, you come up with it on your own, and it's usually something fun and over the top and a call-back to the novel or book or character and it's just lovely.
other notes: ALL CHARACTER MUST WAKE UP. You don't have eternally blissfully naive characters. Nuh-uh. Sure, you can take your sweet time and let it play itself out, but by the end there WILL be an army of awakened characters on the site :P
Q. The story I want isn't on the canon! What do I do??
Well, all ya have to do is pop in the cbox, hunt down one of admins andbegpleadkindly and patiently ask us if the story you'd like would fit on the canon. Chances are we'll okay it, but there might be some rare instances where it just...won't. Please try to understand and pick something else on the canon.
