personality Darius is charismatic and outgoing, but selective. At home in Casco Bay, Darius branched out early in his life, having acquired a small group of close friends by his early school years. These “buddies” morphed into “home dawgs” as Darius grew and matured, and even as his gang led him further and further off the beaten path of legitimacy. He isn’t shy, however he often rejects potential allies on the pretense that they “don’t understand him.”
When it comes to girls, however, Darius is much less selective. He has an infamous reputation for skipping from girl to girl, taking what he can from every clique, class, or rung of the social ladder. He takes pride in his ability to run multiple full-on relationships at the same time, as well as little “things” with “flirts,” and “teases.” He flits through hook-ups and break-ups without breaking stride, and always with an enormous smile plastered across his face. He lost his virginity when he was 12, a fact that he doesn’t hesitate to publicize as widely as possible.
The constant alteration of “scenery” has left Darius with rock-hard emotions protected by a bitter outer shell. He has trouble opening up to people who aren’t his twin brother, and though he is able to constantly shift his sexual attractions between girls, he admits privately that he has never truly been in love. Although he puts on a façade of “tough” and “ghetto,” deep inside he feels trapped in a narrow world, with only one person who really knows him.
past Darius was born on April 30th, 1993, in Casco Bay, Maine, and is 10 minutes older than his brother. He and his twin brother , Xerxes were inseparable and identical in both looks and personality from the day of their birth. When Xerxes’s Episodes began around age 4, Darius was naturally designated “interpreter”, delegated the responsibility of “talking for” his brother. With this burden pressing on his shoulders, Darius learned to sense Xerxes’ every thought and feeling through a single glance. He has even developed a sensitivity to his brother’s pain, and can sense when Xerxes is hurt or endangered, even if the two are not in close proximity.
Darius is deathly allergic to bee stings, a fact that he discovered at age twelve, when he narrowly evaded the clutches of death after receiving a sting on his left cheek. From this traumatizing experience has sprung a severe, irrational phobia: Darius cannot so much as glimpse a bee without feeling dizzy.
Darius was a heavy smoker around the preteen years: in response to an entreaty from Xerxes, he decided to quit smoking for his brother’s fourteenth birthday. Although he possessed the willpower to resist the coercing of the nicotine, he found that his mouth felt useless and empty without cigarettes to chew on, a symptom which ended up bringing on an ironic addiction to honey. Smoke-free, Darius spent much of his freshman and sophomore years of high school shoveling mouthful after mouthful of the sticky substance down his throat. He’s also famous for constantly misspelling the word “honey” as “hunny,” though he is very bemused by this fact since he is quite aware of the correct spelling.
present When Xerxes decided to transfer to Frank L. Baum Academy, Darius elected to stay in Casco Bay with his gang. However, with his brother so far away, Darius felt empty and alone, as if he were only half of a person. After about three weeks away from each other, the twins decided that they couldn’t stand being apart for so long. Darius transferred to Baum Academy, which he now attends.
Darius is back on the cigarettes now, though he doesn’t smoke nearly as much since honey is pretty much a permanent resident of his mouth. He claims that he is no longer addicted: as far as he is concerned, he smokes when he’s bored, or when he wants to give off the “G” image. Cigarettes are nothing more than figureheads to him, or so he claims anyways.
family He has two loving, middle-class parents (who he is not close to), and three siblings. One is his identical twin brother, Xerxes. Though the two differ in clothing preference(Darius finds Xerxes’ style revolting), and personality, they consider themselves one person. The two have such an intimate bond that they can can communicate with their minds, experience each other’s pain and sense each other’s every thought. He also has two sisters named Amestris and Atossa, who he is also not close to.
